So, I started working on a Siegfried sprite a bit ago. I used Gafgarion's body and a female knight's head, and I think it turned out pretty well. I'm still working on the armour a bit, but it's coming along nicely.
He looks pretty
good concept. i like it.
It is a pretty decent idea. But who is Siegfried?

A character from the Soul Edge/Soul Calibur video game series.
Here's (http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-03/sc3-siegfried-01.html) the art of him from Soul Calibur III, for those of you who were wondering. This sprite looks pretty damn good, though the hair looks a tad bit too light, and doesn't look messy enough. The armor, however, is damn near perfect.
His shoulders pads should be more horizontal, and maybe gold trimmings?
I was thinking about doing the trimmings. As for the hair, I fail at doing anything with hair except recoloring it. D:
Hah! Gafgarion! You know this works out great for a thought I had on the Memoir's of a Cadet part of Mercenaries... Gafgarion is displayed as a young man with flowing blonde hair. Haha! This works out great for this! Now how to include it...
soften the blue and then do continue

Oddly enough, this idea was flowing through my head earlier today. I was thinking of replacing Agrias' sprite with a Siegfried and Gafgarrion's with Nightmare. That said, Nightmare was styled completely different in 2 as he is in 3 and...the bad one. (I don't honour it with the name Soul Calibur IV)

I haven't gotten to play IV yet. D: I'm too poor to afford a PS3 or Xbox 360. Is it really that bad?
Also, I had the same idea about replacing Agrias and Gafgarion... weird. I was gonna monkey with the weapons and make Ragnarok into Soul Calibur and the Chaos Sword into Soul Edge, too.
I'll finish the sprite sometime this week. I've been lazy. D: It's like 92 degrees in my house and we don't have A/C, so I've been kind of "ehhhh... I'll finish it later."
When I saw this topic, I thought Sigfried from FF6 was finally getting a sprite.
lol thats exactly what i was thinking... I wish someone would try that one.
gaffy's body might actually be a good template anyway
@ Clementine:
- Very little to do offline
- Character creation gives with one hand and takes with the other
- Online practically unplayable unless you have a brilliant connection, otherwise you will come up against the new undefeatable enemy, Namco's pathetic lag management, exploited by spammers, and you can't guard impact to stop them courtesy of lag.
- ZOMG VADER N YODA N STARKILLR R LIEK SOOOOOO CANON 2 TEH PLOT
- A plot that aside from King Algol and Sophitia had very little effort thrown in
- Rip-off DLC
- Pathetic music
- Stupid hard levels where spamming is the only way forward
- Cool-looking custom characters can be broken due to bad stats
Good things about SC4:
- Lovely graphics
- Custom characters CAN look awesome, although there's quite a limited choice, it's mainly all heavy armour.
I can rant about SC4 as much as I can about PSP Go. And Broken Destiny? An SC4 remake with one new guy and Kratos? Come on Bamco, stop with the guest characters. EVERY SC except for Soul Blade has one.

Well, I was trying to make a more FFT style portrait for that genesis sprite that Seushiro made, but I started straying from that and noticed the hair was the same color as this so I wouldn't have to change any colors so... well, this is what I've been working on two versions. One w/, one w/o the scar.
Its still in the works, I'm just looking for some criticism.

(They're based off the "female blue mage portrait" thats on another topic that I had been attempting to fix up a while ago that I thought would be a good base. The female blue mage portrait itself looks to be based off the female monk portrait)
Swap out those eyebrows with the male archer's, give him more of a scowl, work on the color for the scar (use a pinkish medium to dark color). This is definitely a good start. Just make him look more manly and you'll have something quite nice.
You are correct in your assumptions about the blue mage portrait. Looks pretty decent, though the hair screams of pillow shading. I would use a bit more female monk for the long flowing hair.
I'll work on it, and I'm a horrible hair shader xD I'll try to work on my shading.
welcome to the pillow shaders club
Small update, I tried messing with the eyebrows and mouth. Its looking okay in my opinion, but adding the scar just makes it look stupid... Anyone else want to try their hand at making a scar that looks good? (I'm gunna try practicing my shading for a little bit >.<)

The mouth looks kinda warped, try giving him the same mouth as the guy in my avatar. The eyes look more fierce...though not fierce enough! I dunno, I always have a tough time with eyes and eyebrows--try Algus's, since I believe he has the most ornery look outta everyone.
The scar is gonna be a problem...it really sucks that it has to be on his left eye, since that's pretty much the one we can barely see...
Agreed on the mouth - smiling just doesn't fit Siegfried.
Try the scar on the right. I know, inaccurate, but on the left it just looks...awful.
Mental_Gear is right on the scar, I don't think many people would mind if you moved the scar: this is just for fun anyway, so do whatever will make the portrait look better.
Actually, are you sure the scar's by his eye? I keep getting the impression it's supposed to be on his cheek, maybe I'm confusing him with the scar available in the character creation mode.
Speaking of which... the portraits change which way they're facing anyway, it would end up being on the wrong side anyway...
EDIT: Anyway, here are two updates.
I know I shouldn't keep posting the one I make without the scar, but its there if anyone else wants to try and take up making the scar, and I'm giving them a scarless one to make it easier.

The top part without the scar is fine. . . great editing
Yes, MUCH more stern now, but the down-turned part of the mouth on the right (as you look at him) is a little too light and hard to see.
