Title: Wind element balancing issue.
Post by: Zaen on May 25, 2009, 01:51:54 pm
Ok, I'm trying to add wind elemental damage to Silf.

Problem is, all humans are extremely weak against wind, while most monsters are neutral to it. This is a problem since I can't figure out how to balance Silf so that it's normally as strong as Shiva or Ifrit, but doesn't 1HKO all human chars. I mean, it deals around 150 with 8MA*20..

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Give all classes the ability to equip heavy armor and buff it's HP gains.

Already did that. Heavy armor on everyone would have drawbacks.. I gave some of them attributes that help out heavy classes.

I thought about leaving the ability with it's current strength, but heightening it's MP and JP costs.

what about making silf more like titan?

i never noticed monsters taking less damage than humans for wind tho

It's strange, I know. They take about twice as much damage. Every human Silf targets with the same power as Shiva/Ifrit/Ramuh takes over 100 damage, instead of the 60/70 on those 3.

Figured it out.. didn't have faith in the formula. it was 4E (MA*Y), not F(MA*Y).

I'm stupid.

i was going to say, for me wind seemed almost like a non elemental untill i started giving certain things weakness that included wind.

which is weird that it affected humans and monsters differently though.
