They don't ruin any message boards as long as there aren't too many of them. And if they get too plentiful, you can count on them "jousting" and taking each other out. It shouldn't make you sad, since this is just a stage of these guys' development. They'll eventually get over the attention seeking and magically gain self respect. Eventually.
It really just requires a certain amount of balls for someone to break rank and call them out on it. Everyone else always has the same feelings but they're just too scared to say something about it. There's always a bunch of people that will sympathize with the Knight since he's typically a really nice guy, but that's the biggest part of the problem.

The people they're talking about are the ones who defend women on the internet, regardless of how stupid or idiotic they might be. Being "chivalric" to someone who doesn't deserve it in the slightest.
I've no problem with people being nice or defending the underdog (I do that all the time in other communities I've been in), just when people do so blindly for stupid reasons.
