And I need some feedback.
I'm giving Miluda a unique sprite, one that matches her portrait. I know there's one on this site already, but I'm going a different direction with mine.
I'm basing her off of the generic knight, because well, that's what she was in the original game. The goal is that were someone knowledgeable in FFT to see the sprite, but not the portrait, they'd be able to recognize her as Miluda.
Anywho, need your opinion. Right now, on her hair.
A) Most of her hair in back?
B) More in front?
C) They both suck and I should do something different.
Here's her portrait for reference.

Whole thing's a WIP (http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6033/miluda4.png), of course. I plan to change the design on the back of the cape, and of course the hair, and call it "done" except tweaking. Opinions welcome.
I think A is better.
Maybe shade bit her top hair, make it looks like her hair is bit more the her right, like the portrait.
And, maybe shade her hair bit, make it bit layers ^^
Other than that, it's nice.
I know that you already mentioned her hair is not done yet.
Just giving some suggestions ^^
Hmm, that's actually quite exceptional. The hair is both flavorful and the cape is flowing extremely well, I personally like B a bit better, because hair in the front is a rare thing in FFT, though the one you might have might need a little bit of work.
Don't take this the wrong way, because I like it how it is, but her hair looks like someone poured caramel over her head... B especially. I like B though. Do you have more colors to work with because one more shade might break that up some and make it look more like hair and less like goo. ^.^
I say B. I think that also, she should have a different cape color.
Lol. I'm the only one said A. Ahahaha =p
Well, honestly, what LD said is true. B's hair is bit rare. ^^
I don't think all the human sprites in the game have hair like this...Or is there any?
Hehe ^^
B fits her proflie picture more. Nice Job.
I'd say A look best to me.
Vote for A
Quote from: "woodenbandman"I think that also, she should have a different cape color.
What would you suggest? I considered at one point a red cape, for contrast against the green, but couldn't think of a good shade for it. I'd like green to be the dominant color, as it's the color of the Death Corps.
And I've got some ideas for the hair. Some mix of A and B, possibly with another color. If I keep the cape's color as-is, I'll easily be able to free up one for the hair.
EDIT: Don't even need to do that. Found one that's only used for the portrait... and it doesn't use this palette :P
You have 14/16 colors used...
Without a doubt the hair needs an extra color, because currently the shading is horrible; same goes for the boots.
I think you need to make the hair more brownish too, because caramel colored hair is rather unusual and looks weird. :S
And A.

I think this better, but the question is, good enough?
Yeah zodiac, I'm very much a noob at this. I'd post in the "what are you working on" thread if I was confident :X
Thanks all for the feedback so far.
Is her left arm supposed to be behind the cape, or is it just missing?
Behind. More easily seen while animating.
Lol. I just said i'm the only one chosed A, now there's few more.
Hehe ^^
Although B is bit more rare, but i still think A is nicer ^^
Maybe because B's hair looks bit like bending. Lol
i donno the missing arm doesnt look right. is that how the female knights were normally..?
Naww.....female knights shown their arms ^^
But, we should look it as in walking animation to see whether is it suitable or not ^^
there needs to be more shape under the cape showing that arm tho
Yea. Your right ^^
If not, it would be like she lost her arm =p

Tried to outline the gauntlet under the cape a bit. Still look armless?
Erm...bit better
But I still can't actually picture her arm under her cape.
Probably I've poor imagination =p
Maybe show a bit of her hand. Remove a small portion of her cape from her hand.
That way, definitely knows that her arm is under the cape.
Lol. ^^
Hrm, I'll come back to it. Got one more color; will use it for highlighting. Hopefully that'll make it look a bit better. Plus, as I said, it looks better animated (though obviously that's the formation screen sprite... which is unanimated).
And showing the arm would defeat the purpose
Hmm...yea.
Well then, we'll just have to wait and see its animation ^^
Ok, I lied about coming back to it later.

Sorry but...what changes you made?

Special note, jimmyjw88, your avatar makes all of your posts seem slightly surprised.

Added a highlight. Looks more 3d-ish, and I think the bulge of her arm is quite obvious now.
ghost arm now. maybe have a little bit of the hand show, but not the whole arm.

What do you mean darthpaul??
That's what I've suggested Tea ^^
But he said that's the purpose...hiding her arm under the cape.
Secret weapon under her cape...Walk pass people and seconds later, that person is falls down and died.
Ahahaha =p
Completely intended as a stylization. I'm gonna try something different... as I can't stop seeing the "ghost arm" now :P
Since there have been no comments on the hair, and I'm mostly satisfied with it, gonna go ahead and finish that part of the sprite too.
(oh and jimmy's avatar reminds me of Micheal Jackson. Doesn't look surprised to me... but I do get a slight pedo vibe.)
Lol
Ahahaha ^^
Maybe something more like this
Wow...That's nice Tea ^^
Now we can really see her arm under her cape.
Great =)
im noob but i can see the gauntlet, good job dood!
Update (hairstyle).

Yes/no/sucks
I'm liking the general idea. The color needs to be lighter though, more blond. Keep at this.
Side view: The bands need to not be separated like that.
Side-Front view: Bangs look good, that tendral going down the front of her face is too defined near the top I think.
Front view: Pretty much perfect.
Side-Rear view: Needs a lot of work.
Side view: Don't worry too much about this view as it is hardly ever seen.
Side-Front view: I agree with Cheetor.
Front view: Pretty much perfect.
Side-Rear view: Lighten it up colorwise, and then well talk. I don't think it needs the overhaul Cheetah suggested.

Reference.
(http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/6310/miluda10ex.png)Old hair color.
(http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/3898/miluda11ex.png)New hair color, which I personally hate but it matches the portrait.
Thoughts?
Also, I could use some suggestions on the side-back view. This is the first rendition that hasn't made me ill (unless you count a headache), but I still don't like it.
I was aiming for a "messy" look, which the original female knight didn't have. Trying to make strands of hair go different directions made it look more like an octopus, so now I'm trying for a wavy look.
Aaaand, my side project when I get stuck on Miluda.

(portrait only so far)
I think it looks pretty good, but would like to squash any issues that may be left with it.

Looking way better dude, I'm definitely digging the color. Hmm that rear side view is going to be trouble, I don't have any advice yet I will have to think on it.
lol your moogle... cant do without his nose XD
I think making her hair messy is quite good as her portrait hair is quite messy as well.
I think for the moogle portrait, you need to drop the peanut shape for the head and make it more spherical. From the references, it seemed to be caused by puffy cheeks. I think you should do the following: shorten the head, angle it more to the left so that it's easier to mimic the FFT summon reference (and fix the whiskers on the left while you're at it), and take out any odd curves in the head other than where the nose and cheeks would be. Having it face almost straight forward really isn't a good idea at all, in my opinion. That said, keep in mind that I've not done any portrait work... that I'm willing to let others see. My intent is far from "I can do better" as that would be a horrible lie. I just feel there is room for improvement in the areas I mentioned.
I also believe you can do without the nose, especially so the more you angle it to the left. By angling it to the left, you can make the nose the same way the cutscenes show noses in WOTL and the way a nose is easily discernible in the FFT summon reference. (Though unlike the other examples I just mentioned, it does look like the summon has a little bit of color there. It should still turn out easier with more of an angle.)
