sure sb, ill pm it to you when i get home tonight. theres one big problem with it tho

it defaults any objects that are on those maps.

remember the trouble i had with a table being in one of my cutscenes? well that wasnt all, also at the back gate of lesalia , the door was still set as an obstacle so ramza and alma couldn't walk thru it. and when the battle started your characters cant walk thru it either. and i did NOTHING to the section pertaining to that event at all.

hmm.. i dont think im even using that map in SoR...there are better...smaller castle gate maps to use for events :3

i appreaciate it zozma :D

thats not the problem SB its not those maps specifically it seems to be anything that defaults as an obstacle.... one way or another youll run into a problem somewhere.

uhh nevermind i guess it just loaded slowly. but i only get an error message that says "object reference not set to an object" or something and it doesnt save..

I told you in chat, you gotta start over most likely :P

you get that error when patching an iso that has already had text edits done... my SoR ISO got loaded with the text edits i had already done....wouldnt let me save it..

Its no big deal, thanks to the quick edit feature Melonhead added.

quick edit, does it change all occurances?
Title:
Post by: SentinalBlade on February 18, 2009, 12:37:34 am
yeap. if you change it there you change it in battle.bin, attack.out and world.bin and other combonations where the entry is used.

well it doesnt seem to work, same error after i changed all the text back to default.

dont tell me this program is going to be totally useless if i have the expanded iso patch...

Edit: Okay so I opened an unedited ISO, made the text changes and saved it into my ffhacked iso and it saves. but if i open my own it cant patch changes directly.. well i guess that works

Edit Again: lol, okay so i edit alot of shit right? and then i patch. everything looks great! the world menus arent screwed up at all etc etc... then i go into battle and open basic skill and wtf?? "Dash" is called "Gusty Wind"... which file is that one? attack.out? battle.bin? Just to be clear, i used the "quick" feature to change some job names, ability names, and spell quotes adding a few quotes where there were blanks as well.

Same here.  Counter Tackle = Magma Surge, Bolt = Protect 2, Move +1 = Two Hands, Cure = one of my character's names.

Damn.  Do we still need to worry about things like word length or what?

Otherwise I'm extremely happy.  I just can't really play the game with the edits as is.

Its easy to fix. just use the old tactext editor to edit battle.bin. when your done making your text changes, save to battle.bin manually, instead of patching the iso directly. just use cdmage to import it over the messed up one and your good to go.

Melonhead has been made aware of the bug, and is working a fix. i provided him wiht my messed up battle.bin, my clean one, and a save that i have no real understanding of why he needed it ;P

rest assured itl be fixed. just keep quick editing and patching your iso with the new one and use the old one to edit your battle.bin

It is exactly as you think, I'm sure.

Being able to comfortably and easily adjust the text like that...it's just that amazing to me.

O!  The miracles of modern technology!
