Title: A question about text-editing (Cure2->Cura ec.)

Hi guys,
i am totally new to FFT-hacking. I tried some text and sprite-hacking with pokemon games, snes n such before, but i didnt become a "pro".
Now i simply want to change all those lame "Cure2" "Fire3" ability-names to "Cura" "Firga" and such.
What do i have to do? (I also searched the forum quite alot and have to admit i am lost)
Is there already such a patch?
Would i have to start a new game after applying a patch?

No new game required
and while its been suggested, no one actually went through with the project
simple text edits, like renaming or fixing spelling erors, are not worth the HUGE amount of bugs an disadvantages teh current editor offers..
melonhead is quick at work with his new text editor, and i have witnessed great progress on it.
Best thing to do is wait, and then do your patch. im sure alot of people would actually use it, cause alot are a fan of the newer spell names...although i personally am not, because Graviara is absolutly impossible to pronounce, or even spell correctly. (and its not gravara, or gravira. it may be spelt like that, but it definatly doesnt come out of your mouth like that)

I just found out how to edit the names within fftactext... so i can just let it be cause it wont work properly ingame? ^^

itl work, but alot of text will be offset(even with fixes) and ability descriptions wont work at times or at all...
its just a heap right now unless you have around 400+ hours to spend on it

haha, you have a point, randomly shouting Ice 4 dosent sound nearly as devestating as Blizzaja. which still does not sound threatening, but its better than throwing numbers.

yeap, any text editing. which can only be done in PSX right now... i think there is only one thing in PSP that you can edit...and it doesnt make a lick of difference :/
