i like it. actually a very fast magic to peel damages is a must have in this game. if we add some wind draining equipment (to be stolen or poached) you might be really useful

by the way, i was thinking over when we should join the game. maybe instead of the first battle, wouldn't it better for us to join in the first chronological battle? i mean the one the cadets fight agaisn ramza and delita in the past? instead of battling those 5 "tortured thieves gang" they and to battle us 3... that way we would be available since chapter 1.

I'd rather start the game fighting us 3, go through chapter 1, and then find that instead of getting Rad, Lavian, Aliciia, I get Karsten, Vincent, Zodiac. But it was your idea, so your call.

Zodiac you are selling yourself short a little as far as abilities. Just an opinion, but since you are special characters, I feel that each of you should have at least one original or rare ability. (Zodiac perhaps???) at least give yourself some magic balls and/or throwing stars.
I love the dirtiness of Karsten. It's just something about breaking battlefield ethics that is very appealing.
Vincent, I love because of the originality and usage of a rare element.I would possibly add a hurricane attack, simply because i would like to add the animation from haste 2, where the whole board turns green and spins around.
^ That sounds like an easy way to deal with Cyclone's animation.
Just don't use the Hurricane animation to make single target spells(like Wizard's Fire,Ice,Bolt,Flare etc.) coz it crashes the game.
By the way, I like the idea of you guys being the replacement for Rad. Lavian and Alicia. Are you going to get gained jp up since you wont be available until ch 2.

From the things Zozma has been doing with Lavian and Alicia, I think I (and probably lots of others) would rather have those. I mean seriously, look at his sprites. ;-;. I don't mean that Zodiac/Karsten/Vincent shouldn't be included in the game, but not as replacements for Rad/Alicia/Lavian. This is also because from the job descriptions given in this thread, their classes would be less useful than the Mystic Knight/Red Mage/something that were being brewed up in the other thread(s).
Please enlighten me, what plans are for Rad, Lavian and Alicia. Realize that in this patch Red mage will be a selectable class and not just a special class for Rad. Also I'm not sure we can currently do the Elemental slash abilities yet. I know Mystic Knight is one of my personal faves along with red mage, but i don't know of their will be room in this patch for that many special characters. But please hip me to the work being done. It's amazing how you can be in one part of the forum and miss something in another part.

Thanks for the links. I saw them not too long after my last post. The problem is that this patch is for the "big three" to insert them into the game. We are kinda at a fork with this patch and sigma. This VK patch I see as a tribute the the three biggest persons responsible for getting this site up and functional especially after Philsov bailed. Zozma has done some great work and I would love to see it included but it may be in Sigma if Vince and others are up to it. Maybe it should be a third patch in the workings.
I was under the impression that this patch was going to be "the big one". That includes all changes thus far discussed and would incorporate the changes to Rad, Alicia and Lavian as well as including Vincent, Karsten and Zodiac.
the plan is to work on from the already existant sigma and developing it into something relly new.

and seeing how Zodiac and Gomtuu are progressing with map editing and Melonheads FFTacText editor is out there are some pretty cool things that can be done!
im wondering now (off the subject of the specific patch,sorry) is there a way to make it so a special character could appear (on 1 specific map) in a random battle then set a flag so it never appears again even if that random battle were to hit you again? see i like the changes ive made for rad, alicia and lavian myself.. but i dont want them to join you at the monestary i want them to all come in seperately.. rad joining at the monestary but alicia and lavian appearing later...
i think you can add them after story battles. have them as guests.
yeah, imagine having the mystic knight (alicia) right at the start of chapter 2,
magic (black magic) sword skills shed shred the enemies before your slow guest agrias could get to them.. not to mention a strong magician character (lavian) i havent determined what shell be but she sure looks like the "flame seer" ... it would be wrong to let 3 specials join at the same time.. XD

Well, I'd say those are clever ways of showing the skills... the spitting is sort of funny though, lol. That's rather big for his mouth.
I really like the idea of a Bribe, it adds uniqueness and depth to the character. As well it shows believability that a person would return to it's normal "allegiance" when struck by the enemy that gave them money, or knocked to their "senses" by an ally.
Btw, how do I link sprites to a class slot?

If you know how to link a sprite to a different class slot please be sure to post that info on the custom sprites section since id love to be able to link things like the mime sprite, to a custom job....
If we don't know how to link a sprite to a class slot (even an empty class slot), then we'll either need to replace classes that we can do without, or we'll have to drop this plan altogether.
I'm not sure how we're going to insert all of these characters, but I believe we may have to fudge the original characters a bit to fit in all of the characters. Who do we have so far?
Zodiac - Majestic
Karsten - Mercenary?
Vincent - Wind Mage
Alicia - Mystic Knight
Lavian - strong magician character ("flame seer"?)
I don't know where exactly where all these special characters are going, but I do know that currently we don't have sprites for Zodiac or Karsten. If you two would like to tell me what exactly you want to look like I'll get started on them. [Nevermind, these apparently are taken care of.]

Still didn't add the portrait, though you can see that off to the left.

Edit2: Finished! My sprite is a type2, so I might replace one of the Lede dupes.

It is a good start for sure. And Karsten has had a sprite for a long time. I think the only one left is Zodiac.
trust me im not abandoning my plans to create a sprite for zodiac but rl issues have forced me to put everything internet related to a complete hold for now. my computer recently crashed for one thing thank god i had the opportunity to back up everything first....
Well then, if you got that taken care of I'll just worry about touching up my own sprite (as far as sprites go).
I may change the arm accessories a bit, but it seems like a lot of work for little reward. Mayhaps later.

Errr... we have a slight problem.
The male Red Mage sprite is a typeI, yet both Calculator and Mediator are typeII sprites.
Also, do we have a good female Blue Mage sprite? I'll look around again, but...

Vincent means the red mage uses the Type1 SHP. You are trying to replace the calculator or mediator which use the Type 2 SHP. As a result, the red mage will have misplaced parts.
You can check the SHP of the sprite types using the latest release of the SpriteEditor. Just scroll thru the animations and check where the arms are placed correctly.
I am working on finalizing my Female Blue Mage. Look under "Female Sprite" topic under custom sprites.
Hmm I didn't know that about the type of the Calculator class. Maybe I can have the redmage work with that type though?
There is this weird glitch now where attachments that were lost during the "one week warp" or whatever are randomly popping up in other posts.

Mostly. I first noticed when I was using typeI for my sprite.
It was going fine until I got to the walking sequence that included two overlapping face sprites, and they were out of line.
Naturally, I was thinking "Man, I got to fix that" and I kept looking at the pics on the side which were fine until I saw the arms. Then it just looked awful. That's when I knew it was something else. The typeI sprites don't seem to have the problem of an unlined face (using typeII) but the arms are always a big problem.
I'm sure I could just modify the arm locations or something, though I'm not sure that's the only problem.
