Heya everybody!
This site is awesome!
Final fantasy tactics is my favorite game of all time, and has been since I first played it when I was a wee lad.
I was looking for a specific tactics scene (can't remember which) on youtube one day when I stumbled upon some of Voldemort7's 1.3 videos. Needless to say I found it amazing that people were editing the game.
Making it more difficult? more balanced? hallelujah!
Then I saw some of the FFT Mercenaries stuff! 0_o totally sweet!
I've been lurking around the site ever since then, mostly in the spriters section checking out the wicked sprites people have been making.
I finally decided to try my hand at messing with sprites yesterday and made myself my avatar.
My hope is to eventually create my own patch, with a completely unique story, if that's even possible, and if i learn enough from here. I don't have any hacking know-how, other then having messed with gameshark xP (woot arc knight ramza!) and putting cfw on my psp. but ill see what i can do.
If all else fails maybe i can make some cool frankensprites
!

For spriting I use gimp and ms paint. Gimp is for pallet issues obviously.

For pallet issues I have used Gimp, Photoshop CS1 and 2, Photo Elf, and Photoscape. Gimp is just the easiest to use but I do all edit in MS Paint.

Graphics Gale with Photoshop is a good combo. I would recommend downloading some game sprites (front page), doing some edits in graphics gale, and then also downloading FFTPatcher (front page downloads section) and seeing if you can import it into the game using the tools in FFTPatcher.

There is nothing wrong with using Photo-shop for pixel art however it's akin to trying to kill a fly with a gun. It has more features than you need to get the job done, with only layers, about 30 undos, and a powerful color tool being really truly helpful.

Killing a fly with a gun man she just keeps getting better cause that is an excellent metaphor. And go for simplicity uless you have a mac (r even if you do) use MS paint it's the equivalent of killing that fly with your bare hands.

Yeah photoshop definitely has way more features then you really need.
I'm liking graphics gale atm, and I'm surprised how many people just use MSpaint.

I like the simplicity of MS paint, yes you can use others but why would you have to. Though your reason for GG has merits.
