Title: Possible to use psp as emulator?
Post by: phrygian on December 13, 2008, 02:31:21 am
Hey all! I was wondering if you can use the psp's psx emulator to run FFT with the fftv1.3 patch. Can I just follow the directions for applying the patch for the psx version normally and then run it on the psp? Or is incompatible? Thanks for any replies   :D

It is compatible, but to run it you need to have a Custom Firmware installed on your PSP instead of the Official firmware issued Sony. If you need a Pandora battery and you are in the US you can go to your nearest Game Stop and ask one of the employees if they have one you can borrow for a few minutes. When I first went to Game Stop to ask after one even the store manager had one. He even let me trade my non-Sony battery for an official one so I could make my own Pandora battery.

Thanks man! I already have custom firmware so that isn't a problem. One thing though, after using ppf-o-matic to apply the patch to my fft.iso, it says "patch applied now burn image to cd!" After that was done I compressed it to .cso and put it in my ISO folder. I loaded the game up but there were no changes to the game. Clearly I did something wrong....but I'm not sure what. I did use a clean ISO by the way.

yeah, you don't convert to cso. That only works for PSP games. You have to use a program called PSX2PSP to convert the file to an EBOOT.PBP file. Then the folder it generates goes into the GAMES folder on your memory stick. You see, PSX games don't come with the code for the menu stuff and images so you have to add them even if you only use the blank default ones. You can also add your own if you want & custom music for the menu, too.

Ok I've patched another clean ISO and converted it into an EBOOT.pbp file using PSX2PSP and then put it in the GAMES folder, but there still were no changes to the game.......I don't think ppf-o-matic is applying the patch properly.

Odd. I've never tried it with PPF-o-matic, so i don't know. I usually just do direct patching and that works fine. All I can think of is o double check that you're converting the patched game and not a clean one by mistake. ^_^

Have you renamed the ISO your patching cause that make a difference with multiple ISOs. Also I use ppf-o-matic and have no problems whatsoever and I just started using the psp to play 1.3 a few days ago with no problems.

I use AutoPopstation4 to convert it to an eboot file to play on the PSP.

o_o

it works for me!  try it for yourself.

Vanya: Yeah checked and made sure I was trying to convert the patched game.

darthpaul: Ok I tried renaming it and I still had no luck lol. I've been looking around the net for people having trouble getting ppf-o-matic to apply a patch and it seems like I may not be the only one.

Yes. I downloaded it from here http://fftdev.istaken.org/patches/Voldemort/ (http://fftdev.istaken.org/patches/Voldemort/)

That should be the most recent version right?
