Title: so which emulator would you guys suggest?
Post by: akwikone on December 11, 2008, 12:59:01 pm
I am running on vista if that matters, I have run epsxe before but that took awile to get all the plugins

also I was thinking either psxeven(for the game shark plugin) or pSX(for ease of setting up)

opinions?

note: I did look around the site and could not find a thread that answerd this, if I just missed it link it and I'll try to stop asking stupid questions

also note: has anyone bought/used winrar?, is it nessesary for my computer to run emulators?

...no. All Winrar does is open .rar files. You could use 7-zip to open .rar files instead. 7-Zip is free.

I have the demo of winrar as it never actually stops working even though it says it will.  Also I have epsx working too I just don't prefer it psxfin = much better.

Go to the config in the mem card tab hit the ... and name the memory card.  Thats how to make a memcard.bin anyways/

.gme

There are programs out there that can convert save games from .mc to .gme and back, use those, and rename memorycard.bin to memorycard.mc in order to use the .bin files in the conversion programs. This also means when you download a .gme and convert it to .mc, you have to change .mc to .bin for it to load into the emulator.

Basically, the memory card files exported with PSX are the same as .mc files, just different extensions.

I have a zip file named memtools.zip that has all the conversion programs, try googling it.

i notice a number of people seem to have a problem with epsxe and i can't understand why... maybe it's like snes7x and zsnes: snes7x* is great, that is, until you used zsnes.

*or is it snes9x? i haven't used them in ages!

It's snes9x.  I've used both(snex9x and zsnes).  I *always* found snes9x to work better for me, but that's just my experience.

As far as playstation emulators go, I use pSX, although I've used ePSXe before without any serious issues, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I use ePSXe. Its best you can change its speed but you have to go plugin options to do that.

have both just in case, both work, usually stick with ePSXe because I have more experience using it, the only reason I was speculitive of getting the ePSXe was because of tracking down all the plugins, but I found a site that had all the plugins I needed so no worries

I also use epsxe. You will need to find the plugins, but there is a program that lets you easily input lots of gameshark codes at once. Since it works, I have not felt the need to change or try others.
