I've been stuck here for like a whole damn month. My reactionsa never go off and there's to god damn many of those fucking red chocobos and gay ass Uribo and the RNG hates me. 71 Br gets attaked 11 times in a row and never activated Dragon Spirit. Fuck this battle

if you have saved boco in chapter 1 and he has gained enough jp to evolve into a rainbow chocobo then this battle is much simpler.

Hmm, could always try the Chocokin quest its not that tricky to do and its really worthwhile:
CHOCOKIN QUEST:
->Quest available at start of Chapter 3
->Must have Boco, Lavian and Alicia in your party
->Must make two empty slots in your formation screen
STEPS:
1. Go to Dorter Trade City and read the Rumor 'The Secret of the Chocobo'.
2. Next go to Igros Castle and read the Rumor 'The Call of the Wild'.
3. Next go to Araguay Woods and there will be a cut scene wherein
Lavian, Alicia and Boco will hide behind one of the huge trees in Araguay woods and there will be moaning and groaning sounds. This will last for about a few minutes so might as well grab a bite to eat first while waiting for the scene to finish. Remember to continuously press 'X' to browse through the 'Ohhhs' and 'Ahhhs'.
4. Next go to the formation screen and you will notice a little bump in Lavian and Alicia's tummy (its a little vague at first but it grows after 3 days)
5. After a week, check your Formation screen again and you will notice two new characters in your party one generic male chocokin and one generic female chocokin. They look like lancers except their helmets are chocobo beak-like. The male has color purple armor similar to the black chocobo and the female has red armor similar to the red chocobo.

SKILLSET NAME: Choco
INNATE: Swim, Counter, Fly and Ignore Elevation
ACTION ABILITIES:
Choco Charm \
Choco Gift \ Similar to Reis Skillset but for Chocobos

Choco Speed /
Choco Cure \
Choco Esuna \ Skillsets of the Chocobo race
Choco Pellets /
Choco Meteor/
REACTION / MOVEMENT ABILITIES:
Counter
Equip Axe
Beastmaster
Defend
JP Boost
Move +1
Once you unlock this the Finnath River battle will be a breeze. Hope this helps man.

Dude, if you're having trouble with Finath River, you are gonna be screwed when you fight Onyx Weapon. He lives under Midgar and you have to use a silver chocobo to find him.

He's not kidding. I used gameshark to get a female chocokin and the next day, my uncle was killed by a burglar. I'm sure the two events were related. With the great power of a chocokin comes great responsibility.
