Title: What's the cracka, lacka?
Post by: Disco_Peach on October 21, 2008, 04:52:23 pm
Hey, you guys. I'm completely new to hacking FFT and it totally blows my mind that you can hack it. I never get much done because I work on too  many things all at once. For instance, I'm working on two games with ASCII's RPGMaker2000, working on a Zelda (SNES) hack, and helping out with a Pkmn Fire/Red hack. Whew! Quite a lot of work!

I guess my question (as well as many other newbs' main question) is where to start? what are all the tools i need exactly? I've been browsing the forum and I see that everyone is skilled to a degree that appears to have arisen since birth. In many cases I have no clue and there doesn't seem to be any in-depth tutorials.

I guess I'd like to know where do I start looking for what I want? I want to totally trip it out. 20+ job classes, new skills, monsters, etc. I don't think you can edit the maps (from what I can tell), but if that were possible, then I'd like to really completely edit the game (eventually). Maybe even start a crew of pros to make an in-depth hack (new events, scenes, and battle maps).

Oh well, pretty long introduction but I don't want to drown in here with all the knowledge! Thanks, y'all! And nice ta meetcha!

welcome, all of the super seckret tutorials are here (http://www.ffhacktics.com/psx/tutorials.php), and our top programs developed by russian intelligence are located here (http://www.ffhacktics.com/psx/downloads.php), looking around the boards can also help answer questions that you may have that someone else has asked

Thanks, bro! Are there any tutorials to help out with job customization? Like, how to change the skills or JP requirements, Job Class requirements, etc?

Welcome, most of the changed you might want to try are located in the FFTPatcher program. most of the things you'll find in the program are pretty straightforward.

You can edit the Job Class requirements, Job Skill Sets, Item drop when battle is done, allegiance of a certain units in battle, status immunities, etc...

Anyways, Enjoy your stay here! :)

Obviously. That game really struck a chord in me when I played the original gameboy game on my "portable refridgerator" (as I referred to the original monochrome yellow gameboy) when I was wee boy. When DX came out in color and had new features they totally upped the ante. Those games were so important in my life, that the Zelda SNES hack I'm creating is a "sequel" to Link's Awakening assuming that Link's Awakening was a sequel to A Link to the Past. That's one of my main goals so far in the world of haxoring.

Anywho, memories aside, I seem to need an ISO of FFT. Can I use an NTSC as well or is it exclusively an ISO?

P.S.: I own the actual game, both as an original and as a greatest hits. Where can I obtain an ISO of FFT? I'm tired of coming up empty-handed over the net.  :x
