my first spriting attempt didnt go so well, after 3 hours of sitting in front of my computer, switching back and forth from psp7 and microsoft paint, this is what i have
(http://i37.tinypic.com/xbkdqq.jpg)
as you can see, it looks like some kind of deformed power ranger carrying an oversized glow stick, this is what i was trying to go from

Looks like he needs another shade of black on the pants it's not bad...
Post in a higher quality too, like .png
Jacob, I think you are putting your own work down a bit too much...
i deleted my old version, im going to be starting from scratch some time soon
well as a self proclaimed master of the BN series i would have to say it is damn near perfect some things could be better but ive seen much worse
after 2 more hours in ms paint i have this, sword is grey by request of Voldemort
(http://i37.tinypic.com/312irec.png)
needs a few adjustments but meh, its better than my first
hmmm looks nice it would be great if you could put more detail into the "proto" emblem on his chest but as thats not possible with something so small its a great rendition of one of the best megaman BN characters
i dont like how the flare on his shades is so im going to be changing that, but after another hour in paint i have this

next post will have all 5 directions
Looking good, though you will definitely have to remove the sword if you ever want him to actually work in game. Though doing two versions would be cool.

im hoping to make a new weapon that has no picture so it will just show him swinging his arm, we can make new weapons right?
there isn't room in the area around the arms to fit a sword. Take a look at how the arms are arranged and I think you will understand.
the flair is a bit awkward and you might be at an advantage to just remove it

ya i guess your right, but i can change how one of the weapons looks (i can right?)and make it only equipable by his class so it will work out in the end
Yes that is definitely the course of action I would recommend.
finished directions

last one took awhile because i couldnt figure out if i wanted the legs touching or not
i removed the flare and i still want to mess with the swords and feet some more, im going to start the rest of the pallet next week
for those who dont know, this is protoman from the megaman battlenetwork series
Very nice! =)
applause
And you said you weren't good at making sprites.

This is Grade-A stuff man!

He's good
now because he was able to self-criticise. There is no such thing as putting your work down too much when it's constructive.
Looking good, though that back side view is a little off. He appears too short and skinny or something. The hair is awesome though.
you know how the bodies for movement dont have arms attached? well if i were to draw them on the body so the sword would show while he walks, and black over the movement arms, would that work? i would do the attack arms like normal so when he goes to attack the sword on his arm disappears and the one from inventory that will look like the sword arm will show, think it will work?
edit: just learned that by clicking the black boxes in shishi, it tells you what part of the sprite sheet its using

, if im able, this sprite definitely wont strike overhand like everyone else
The problem with doing the attached arm thing is that a lot of the none attacking animations are messed up, like casting spells and defending. Take a good long look at how shishi shows how each piece of animation is done and it will all make more sense.
it wouldnt be a big deal if the sword wasnt on the casting arms, that would acctualy look better, i just want it to be on the moving arms
But you would have the spell casting arms, but under that you would have the walking arms all on one sprite. Because the spell casting position uses one of the walking animations, take a look at ShiShi's preview and it will make sense. I don't think you want your sprite with four arms when he is guarding or casting a spell.
i just hatched an idea :D

excuse the double post, but i started doing the directions so the first thing i did was take the facing sprite, remove the arm and sword and draw what they where over, does this look good if it does than the next picture i post will hopefully have all of the moving sprites, if not than give me your suggestions, and i wasnt sure what to do with the hair so i just left it in
(http://i36.tinypic.com/o04bi9.png)
Keep the hair, and maybe fill in where the arms were so that when his arms swing there isn't a black abyss behind his arms.
