Title: Probably been asked before, but how do I play FFT on PC?
Post by: Xiphos on March 05, 2016, 02:33:00 am
As the title says. I own Final Fantasy Tactics and both a PS1 and PS2, but have no idea how to go about playing it on PC so that I can use mods.

I haven't extensively tested ePSXe 2.0 to say if the rule has been changed, but the general rule is to use anything other than ePSXe. If you just want to play FFT without much hassle, pSX 1.13 (http://ffhacktics.com/w/images/f/f7/PSX_1_13.rar) is the friendliest, easiest option. I personally prefer to use PCSX-R with either its default GPU plugin with GTE accuracy enabled, or edgbla's gpuBladeSoft. RetroArch is another good option, if you can get it to work without immediately crashing - I can't.

To patch your FFT Image, obviously you will need and Image. I recommend ImgBurn outputting as .BIN/.CUE (mode 2/2352; I think this is automatic) as it never failed me. http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=10119.0 for more information.

Then you can go ahead and download mods and patch away!

Thank you, I'm gonna try out pSX 1.13 and see how it works out for me.

So I just put FFT in my PC and use that program to extract the data?

Edit: I just unzipped the emulator and it says it requires a BIOS, does that mean I need to somehow copy my PSX BIOS over to my PC?

That would be a tricky thing to do. Best to just search google for SCPH1001.BIN (or SCPH1001.BIN.bin), which will be 512 kilobytes when uncompressed. We can't provide the file, but it's pretty easy to find on the internet.

My antivirus (Avira) blocked Imgburn, I'm probably gonna use something else.

Wow, Avira is worse than I thought. ImgBurn is perfectly safe.

I temporarily disabled Avira and solved the problem. FFT seems to work now, so now I just need to get a mod for it. c:
