I know there's some unused slots in the WLDFACE list. It's posible to add some portraits there? Or they're hardcoded?

Yeah, you should be able to use them. You can remap them with this tool. (http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=7833.msg156723#msg156723)
