i have an issue now! i tried doing a test run of my chapter 1 so i started a new game. everything is fine untill in the first battle agrias gets her turn and the game crashes with some error. i was like "oh no my modifications have screwed up the game" so i tried testing it on a backup copy, (crashed on agrias turn).

tried different emulator.. crashed...

what the hell?

it says in a small popup window
error REGIM Op Code 01 UNK PC[000e1400]

just to be more specific....

What files have you manipulated?

thats the problem as i said, i even did e test run with a backup copy of the game that wasnt modded with fft patcher...

and its so odd because i tried it on epsxe on 2 different versions and on psxeven, so more than one emulator and they both crash... only on agrias turn

if you dont keep your backup in a rar or zip than you might of modified it without noticing, if you've already tried redownloading/reripping the disk image than i dont know

XD well i guess ill try one more thing, unzipping...

this is just the strangest thing. and why agrias? i didnt even do anything to her!

i dont think it has to do with my changes, but then again if it does it means i really have to start ALL over again... lol

some games are just weird, i was modding a game called rome: total war, and i added some stuff to the seleucians, started a new game as them and ended my turn but when it got to the julii's turn the game crashed

its funny tho, fft isnt one of those games that usually crashes easily... at least its never happened to me before

EDIT:

awww man, okay well unzipping a clean copy has done the trick...
(thank you for that, why i didnt think of it i donno)

that means i have to re add everything ive done to this copy...

EDIT again:

well so i started a new game with a clean copy, adding one changed file at a time... it seems to have been BATTLE.BIN ......... perhaps i screwed up somewhere when i wrote those new codes in from zodiacs asm hacking reference... sigh i guess ill leave it alone untill im ready

Hmm... did you touch anything in Attack.out dealing with battle events, by chance?

since i replaced battle.bin i havent had any other problems
i just repatched a fresh copy of battle.bin without any hex editor changes and its working fine... thank god, no losses.

i must have made an error when inputting the code for things like "weapon strike fix" or formula fixes

i dont see what else it could be. and i must have accidentally put that same battle.bin in my backup version as well resulting in both of them crashing when tested.

mmm did those problem only happened with the old or the newer version of the weapon strike fix? Because I remember you patched it the first time and a few days later I changed the topic for new offsets which seemed to be a better location.

the only time i talked to you about weapon strike fix is the only time i used it. so probably just whatever you had made first. but perhaps it crashed while trying to calculate agrias holy sword move because of the weapon strike,

but it might not even be directly related to WS because i also had your other fixes applied to the battle.bin like the evade

come to think of it, i also tried to attack agrias since i got a turn before her and the game also crashed when i did that. (attack her from behind)

this might not be a coincidence, up to now all my tests were made with Agrias.

interesting, the version of agrias i had was 1F, however her unit id was still set to 34

and even in the version i tested where the original 34 was used it still crashed on her turn.

on a RARE occasion it would make it past her turn, only to crash when going to alicia (who i was using meliadouls job there)

EDIT: ohhh crap, wait... i think i did have to redo battle.bin and had gone back and noticed that when i was adding the weapon strike it was in a different location where like everything remotely near (if i recall) was 00
