Aaaand because I recently got into Zodiacs, I'll now share about Bad Compats...
I think it's based on the Zodiac QUALITIES, here take a look:
Cardinal Signs - Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn
Fixed Signs - Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus
Mutable Signs - Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo
If you look at, let's say, the Cardinal the signs all form triangles of their respective bad compats leaving one that can either be best or worst (i.e. Virgo bad with Sagittarius and Gemini. But so gooooood with Pisces)
Wow, square really did their research. They really made sure that the bad and good compats would make sense outside the gaming aspect.
Here's brief info about the zodiac qualities if you're curious:
Cardinal Signs - characterized as enterprising and outgoing. They are initiators.
Fixed Signs - are able to hold steady in their goals to achieve something solid. It's hard for them to change, which gives them a reputation for being stubborn. But they are respected for their self-containment and sense of purpose.
Mutable Signs - flexible, adaptable and restless for movement, change. They are able to see life from many perspectives, making them great communicators.
