Yeah, I'm currently playing Life as well.  This boss I'm at is kicking my ass, but I suspect the way to beat it is a simple war of attrition...  Not that it helps.  My resources are getting used up faster than I can get them mined.  I suspect I may be in need of some more pylons too.

Actually I think FFTA2 has the most potential to be awesome with player hacks.  It seems to have the most fleshed out system of them all.  (Well... for the tactical RPGs.  I'm pretty sure Vagrant Story tops it in how huge the system is.)  Its most grievous balance issues are also ones that *should* be easy to resolve, such as how absurd the Parivir abilities are in damage (damn, tone them down to 1.5, PLEASE) and how much Seeq suck (beef up Lanista, PLEASE).

But... I think what I'd most like to see hacked is The Knight of Lodis.  Awesome little game, and I wish the end was actually difficult enough to challenge.  It sucks that it runs out of any potency on the part of the villains just when you start getting a Lich or two and some Angel Knights.  Hell, just finding some way to make their generated equipment smarter would be a huge contribution.  I mean... Leather Armor?  On the last chapter?  Are you kidding me?!  That's lame, especially on the default job it spawned on!  If nothing else, the non-canon adventures could at LEAST scale up to level 50, maybe actually make that last fight interesting.  And make the rewards suck a bit less so it is worth doing instead of the other super fast ones.

Which Kain?  Normal dragoon or the dragoon/paladin hybrid?

I suspect if they use any FFT character, it will either be Luso or Adelle.  Or however you spell their names.  I mainly think this due to just how iconic Magic Frenzy wound up being.  I don't think they will ever use the FFT characters though.  The FFT games didn't have an ultimate job (at least not intentionally... except for Dark Knight), so unlike the other job-based games, there isn't a good choice on what to make the character fight as.  Unless they use a unique job like Holy Swordsman or Heritor...  Or Judge.  Wow, that would suck.  Using Judgemaster Cid to represent the "series"...

I think I'd most want to see Vivi.  Seeing a little kid blast the hell out of everyone else with magic would amuse me.

I like the green.

Additionally FFTA2 uses an overall brighter look for the game than FFT, so that palette just wouldn't look right.

If that IS using Alma's shading (... are you sure you didn't lower the amount of colors it originally had?), then what you lost in transition was the lower amount of contrast.  Your shades are drastically different from each other in comparison.

(Fricking dangit, I've lost that link to the site that had a copy of each palette of each sprite, and I'm not currently where I can access the game data, so I can't check for sure.)

I never could get into the Metroid series.  I was completely and utterly stuck on the second Ridley fight in Super Metroid, and the only time I tried Metroid Prime, I sucked at it.  While I can play FPS games, I'm better at the more "frantic" ones like the Halo and especially the Timesplitters series.

So... that wouldn't be a good game for a lightweight in FPS games, would it...?  Eh, I'll probably save my money for Starcraft 2 instead anyways...

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.

Sounds like a Fire Emblem kind of system.  I hope the combat has more depth to it than Fire Emblem.  Sure, that series has traditionally been considered challenging, but I can't say I've ever cared for its rock-paper-scissors weapon system, its magic system, or that there is absolutely no way to reverse or avoid permanent death.

How's the combat?
How varied are the jobs?  Particularly the ones that branch away from the same source?

The shading still looks poor, especially that back let.  Your current avy looks better than the one you have in that image.  Way better.

That Cid looks too good to be true.  Is it finished?

Outline around the knife and lamp suck.
The collar is too high on its face.
The sleeve on our right kind of sucks.

The Lounge / Re: Your Favorite FF music

If we're going to include the Chrono Trigger series, then ALL of the Chrono Cross music and Memories of Green, Singing Mountain, and Schala's Theme from Chrono Trigger.

Sad that this was one of the most uncommon songs to hear for very long depending on how much you relied on the Epoch's flight and how much of the side-quests you played.  World map music from the Present.

Tragically never used until the PSP remake/re-release.

Appropriately, if you listen for it, certain sections of notes sound straight from Magus' Theme.

For the creatures that only use a Lore in response to "a very specific action," are any of these monsters rare or have any sort of limited availability?  Because that I personally would find that infuriating.  I'm hoping you mean things no more specific than simply having a party member with the Protect status.  If you mean things like having Edgar use a specific tool, then I would hate you with a passion if I tried playing this.

What kind of job system are we talking about?  FFIII?  FFV?  FFT/FFTA/FFTA2?  Blue Dragon/Wild ARMs XF?
[Interestingly enough, the chronological order also happens to go from my least favorite to my most favorite systems... (note, I'm counting the three FFTs as the same job system, even if the latter two sucked)]

As I said in the other Link thread, I recommend using this Link as a reference as it is the most detailed and awesome version I've seen yet.  Note they actually show some chainmail:
