News:

Use of ePSXe before 2.0 is highly discouraged. Mednafen, RetroArch, and Duckstation are recommended for playing/testing, pSX is recommended for debugging.

Quote from: "red_bird"completely unrelated, but is it currently possible to create multiple job trees?  a tree for each faction (hokuten and nanten, for example).  and how are bard/dancers gender-job availability determined?

I'm pretty sure there is a byte that checks if the character is male or female.  If you know how to do make that apply to several classes, you could make more female/male only classes.  And while you are at it, you could tell us how to remove the Mime status from Mime, etc.

So basically, we don't know how to make multiple job trees yet, as awesome as that would be.

I would assume so.

It's probably the scenario that philsov gave: reminding communities that banned her that she was banned.

If she wanted attention, well she sure got it.  I don't know what other motive someone would have to do that.  It's not like Zodiac would say "oh yeah, you are allowed back on the forum so that you can spam us again."  This behavior is very interesting to me at least.

Quote from: "SentinalBlade"Also, i fell in love with VC's Event Skipper. it makes the game go shitloads faster. i took the liberty of releasing it in a seperate PPF, for those who dont like to go through all teh chapter 1 events while testing a new patch.

motivation for finishing Event Skipper: +5 Motivation

Due to free time, I'm giving this patch another shot.

Quote from: "LastingDawn"Don't need to worry about that Zuka, our New Projects Moderator, purged it when he became a moderator, so it's gone.

Not quite.

Zuka, you have a thread with an actual patch (even if it is partially done or w/e), so it was not purged.

http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1827

But it doesn't really matter too much.  I'm pretty sure you can change the title back to whatever it was and continue posting your patch developments there.  That said, I don't mind your statement anymore so much as I would like to see the New Projects thread not get more cluttered with duplicates.

Welcome back Zuka.  I completely understand the feeling of having all my ideas torn apart, so I know a bit of where you are coming from (or came from rather).  I must say I was disappointed that you had not taken down that statement against our community earlier, but I am pleased to see you apologized for it first thing upon coming back.

Though most of the members of this community ARE knowledgeable of the game forwards and backwards, v1.3 is pretty much a cure-all for all my challenging FFT needs.  Being one of the less skilled FFT members here, I will probably enjoy playing your patch, though I am bored easily...

Common reasons people don't get into FFT?  Probably because of all the variables you have to know about to be able to handle the game well.  My brother is a huge strategy fan, but he never really came to love FFT because there were so many variables he disregarded (brave, faith, Zodiac Compatibility).  For example, there aren't too many things you need to understand to be able to play chess, but it takes lots of strategic skill nonetheless.  Most other things are things you can't really change about the game, such as "being an old style video game"

You reread this thread and realize just how true all this was.  I thought it was all joke until now.

I've got an idea for Kanbabrif.

If you can reduce damage by a certain value, take the natural log of all damage given to Kanbabrif so that the max damage is like 7 or something.  That way, really strong attacks are still worth more than really weak attacks, but it's still really difficult to get his HP down.

I'm betting I'll get 3rd to last in tourny.  Good luck everyone!

And I believe no one cares enough about that to make an ASM hack to "f i x" it.

Your statement is very vague.  Razele's thread is for ASM hacks, and you need knowledge of ASM to be able to make almost any ASM hack.  Melonhead is working on a program called orgASM, which will allow users to make simple formula hacks with little background knowledge.

I hope that answers your question.

Oh no!

Asmo, as much as I like Sir Hoo Kogan, the Worker 8 avatar has been around too long to discard now.

Or maybe it's just the fact that it's too large, but seeing that pic all over the place is a bit unnerving.

Here's what I've done with Elemental in the past:

Pitfall - Normal

Water Ball - AoE: 0,  Strong damage

Hell Ivy - Normal

Sand Storm - AoE: 2, 1 Range

Blizzard - AoE: 2, 1 Range

Lava Ball - AoE: 0, Strong damage

The idea behind it is that Geomancer's role changes depending on what map it is, and Geomancer is inherently better on some maps than others.  I took out all indoor tiles for my purposes, since my game made Geomancer really good in Water/Grass environment, but much worse for the indoor fights (like vs Zodiacs) which made some maps easier than others depending on whether I spent JP on Geomancer or on other classes.  But my version was more for an FE style game, where there is limited opportunity to get experience (JP in FFT).  This depth is destroyed if, for example, every unit had all classes mastered, so know that I already know too much about that argument.

Also, Counter Flood makes Elemental pretty ridiculous on snowy or sandy maps due to large AoE.

Two Swords should be 0.7x damage per slash
Two Hands 1.5x damage per slash?

And Undead can still be healed by skills like Chakra, right?  Which would mean that it is just harder to heal undead, not impossible.

Edit: nevermind about Undead healing thing, you'd just remove all instances of that for the build.
