I found the list of values presented at the beginning of the UNIT.BIN thread, but they were not in the same spot. These started at 0x17186 for ch1 ramza. I am beginning to get frustrated and hope someone can help.


anyone know why it wont worked? or there's something else we need to change?
been a long time since the original FFT im trying to give special classes like Elmdor, Delita or the other templars their own formation sprite
and everywhere i look seems like dead end and just like RandMuadDib it starting to frustrate me..
any kind soul care know or care to help..?

Elmdor's entry, for instance, is base job 1B, between Malak and Teta.

Then you should be able to use FFTEVGRP, available in Downloads > Miscellaneous from the main page, to edit the sprites themselves. There are a few unused sprites (e.g. 08) which can be overwritten.

Pre-battle is still wrong, probably, but that's life.


my question now, is the value changed on WOTL? if it changed, anyone know which part now assign formation screen sprite?

nah.. that also could lead us to another new sprite from meliadoul base..
for example : The Lord of The Ring Ringwraith maybe? (evil laugh..)

@Elric : thanks..Elric but im only patching up other spriters work  :o
and i still have a problem with the samurai armor too..
(especially the portrait armor still feels weird >.< anyone can give me a direction?)

@Lijj : thanks a lot for the permission. i really like your works a lot. :)
(i also using your f_ronin/parivir to replace f_summoner sprite.. somehow the original summoner robe is just like my aunt dress.. i guess) :?

@Jumza : yeah Jumza dunno somehow the original hooded version is just tickles our intuition to wonder how she gonna be without her hood.. the unseen enrich imagination i think..  ;)

yeah.. few event sprites are stored separately from the usual sprites location that shishi edit. i too realize that when i try put a cape on ramza chapter4, in the event he meet delita on zeltennia, when ramza and delita handshakes the cape just got *poof* a frame..
just like Elric said i used a JP EVTCHR to look for those events.. but editing one by one is another matter.. sigh.. just to give ramza a slick cape means a lot of trouble..

first time trying to edit sprite.. i hope i did not offend anyone/ do anything wrong with the copyrights
(the credits of the original works goes to Lijj, Tojoe, Twinees & Theultrawolf as the original creator, im only patch up their works a little)
1. Often i wonder how meliadoul looks without her hood, so the meliadoul unveiled really take my attention, especially her potrait look.. i edited it a little, give her hair color similar to izlude (kinda regretted it. I really like the original red hair color), patch up the hair on Theultrawolf meliadoul portrait and the last i put the original gold armor back.

2. Im trying to give onimusha look on Lijj male samurai, (i hope u do not mind im using your works Lijj..)
i put back the original red color, cleaned a bit on portrait cheek to give a younger impression.. but i got trouble here and there, especially fixing the armor.. here it is.. its still looks weird on the armor portrait though..

any comments is welcomed..or anyone can help fix it?

just want to add something i found on WOTL ISO
UNIT.BIN sprite 08 linked with WLDFACE.BIN potrait 08 and have in battle sprite of malak titled MARA (if im not mistaken) on shishi editor
UNIT.BIN sprite 0B linked with WLDFACE.BIN potrait 0B and in battle sprite of alma titled GYUMU on shishi editor

i only want to assign ID 05 (holy knight Delita chapter 2) to slot 08 sprite & picture on

could do the work but it needed FFT orgASM to apply the patch to WORLD.BIN & ATTACK_OUT
and as far as i know at the moment FFT orgASM cant patch WOTL iso yet..
so is there's any other way to patch .xml files to WOTL?

for example, anyone know which hex should be edited on WORLD.BIN & ATTACK OUT?

first of all.. thanks a lot for your attention bro.. it means a lot for me
i already can import the sprite to PSP via replacing other party member sprite like Celdia's tutorial, basically here's what i do

to import the custom formation i need the UNIT.BIN dan WLDFACE.BIN inside the EVENT folder
INSIDE fftpack.bin, how i extract it is :
i open my clean WOTL iso using UMD GEN 4.00 and extract the fftpack.bin under PSP_GAME, USRDIR directory.
- then i open FFT patcher and choose PSP utilities to extract fftpack.bin.
- with fftpack.bin extracted
the rest is like Celdia's tutorial here: ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=6702.0
with that i can have delita (chapter1, base job squire) with formation, pre battle and in battle sprite of holy knight delita (chapter 2-3)
but with that, everytime i start a new game, i wont see chapter1 delita anymore as his sprite is now delita2, also i need to change his job back to holy knight with lioneditor everytime after i changed his job..

then i wonder if can i insert a sprite for ID 05 (the true delita chapter2 ID).
after rummaging the site all day long, i found UW Entries by Glain

that can assign which formation sprite & potrait used by job ID. i tried to change the spreadsheet, prepare the xml file, edited UNIT & WLDFACE bin and even learn to edit ENTD events
just to find that FFTorgASM needed to aply xml file is NOT COMPATIBLE with psp WAR OF THE LION iso..and that left me down..
so if you can help me / give me a direction i'd very grateful..

care to explain how you figure to add custom formation for WOTL Pretzilxtix ?
after rummaging the site i found out 2 ways to put custom sprite on WOTL
one way is to replace existing party member sprite with another (Celdia tutorial).
the other is to assign another ID to unused sprite to save slot for your custom character, & edited their respective events.. that way u dont need to sacrifice any used character slot but alot of editing..
but it needs FFTorgASM to work and it doesnt work for PSP WOTL
i mean if you found a way on how to "point" job id to a different image number on  FFTEVGRP that would work on WOTL..i would be really grateful..

after alot time rummaging on the site.. (really no one help me till now..)
i finally see a turn around way to give a formation sprite to delita and other templar knight (special characters).. by assigning their id to another unused id with formation sprite (like id 14 = sprite 08 or id 20 = sprite 09) by using UWentries by Glain then change that formation sprite & potrait with respective character sprite.
the problem is..
it needed FFTorgASM that didnt seems works for PSP .ISO.
so anyone know how to solve these? maybe on how to manually apply the patch? or probably how to extract the .bin files?
come on.. give me a little help please..

i got the same problem..
let see.. in my case, i've downloaded Lijj female pavinir (type1) sprite on this site..
and i intend to replace my female summoner sprite (type2 by default) with it..
after i applied the patch with shishi, it worked, but few motion like casting & throwing item the sprite is misaligned so i tried fixing it myself..
(trust me its very hard for newbie who didnt get used spriting like me) so i really admired by those spriters here who worked hard making a new sprites
i managed to the casting animation but throwing item sprite is still a mess
i wonder if i could ask Lijj for a help or if there's anything else i could do to fix it?
for example changing the female summoner type to type1 with shishi 0.4xx would fix it, or maybe it will ruin the game system? i run PSP WOTL ISO so only shishi 0.35x working for me >.<; so i had to repeat the step carefully with those two shishi..
(if possible i would like to fix it myself, feel bad if i bothering Lijj)

@ Mobius : hey thats a cool lancer/ dragoon you got there.. i've seen your & Lijj works on 7 portrait in 7 days.. and wow it really aspired me. u guys really got talent on drawing portrait..
@jumza : i kinda like your first lancer portrait.. it gives mysterious aura
PS :is it possible to use those portraits for generic jobs in game? (sorry m still a newbie here and still learning on how import portrait & sprite)

here's the deal.. i mean now im understand how to import sprite and picture in-battle and on the formation screen, but how.. ehm WHERE the directory if i want to import/change the sprite of non party member unit like delita ch2 or templar knights? the FFTEVGRP only listing the party member characters only, so i can only edit ch1 delita to change his sprite to be looks like ch2 delita but where the ch2 delita sprite stored? and can i edit it?

hi all, im new here..and i should say wow, i'm impressed, i did'nt know there's a lot of FFT fans out there that willing to exploring FFT mechanics till this extend..
after browsing and searching and some of the tutorials i have a question about character sprite..i hope that there's someone that could explain/ help me.. i've tried hacking on FFT (PSX) character rooster to add some of officially unplayable character such as alma, ovelia or delita on my character formation rooster, but im left with a disappointment because square that time left some incomplete character design on formation screen such as delita with chapter 1 ramza sprite.
next FFT WOTL came out, after the rumor Delita is now playable and seeing delita zirekille battle, once again they got my hope up that delita sprite fixed already. but after i hack to his character using lioneditor, once again im left disappointed.. even those whose appearance small like Balmafula (Valmafra in PSP) got her own sprite design.. why SE left more major character sprite being incomplete..
now, my question is can the sprite on formation screen be fixed? if it can, can anyone kind enough to help explain on how i fixed those?
