Title: Damn PSP-3000!!!
Post by: Miroshi Beshima on December 28, 2008, 08:21:57 pm
After being PSP-less for over 8 months i finally got my new PSP for Hristmas (lol, Valkyrie Profile inside joke). I tried getting it custom firmware but no luck. I wodered why because i have a perfect pandora battery and magic memory stick but nothing worked. My dad said (trying to be smart) maybe that new psp cant use that custom thing you were talking about. Maybe you shoud check the internet. Iwas like hmmm that IS a great idea so i checked and it turned out so far that the PSP-3000 is unhackable. But i saw Dark-Alex say he could figure it out someday. I was like oh good. But i soon found out that Dark Alex quit custom firmware and i was like NOOOOOOO!!!. Then my Dad said I told you so....

Is it just me or do i have the worst luck ever....

Dark Alex hasn't quit (Not yet anyway). He and the folks working with him are still making CFW.

Anyways, that sucks though. It'll probably be cracked in the future, but there's certainly no solution ATM.

I have a PSP slim and it pwns too. Also your dads attitude irks me but that's probably cause it sounds like how my dad would act and he's a prick.

Since when did you have a slim? The psp I hacked for you was a phat, so when did you get this new psp?

That's a Phat wow I though the Phats where worse than that lols.  Sorry for not having a firm basis with the hardware but little indiscretions don't matter anyway.

The PSP slim is a little thinner and weighs a bit less, it's back side is completely flat, not having the curves the phat does. I'm not sure of the differences between a 2000 and a 3000 though, but that's what the internet is for!

I figured the Phat would be much bulkier than that it's kinda weird actually considering all in all it's slim as hell.

Something thicker than the phat would be an annoyance in someones pocket, if it isn't already. Sony knows this and made the psp as thin as they could at the time, while also trying to make sure it was easy and nice to hold. After all, they didn't want to repeat the same mistakes as sega with their handheld.

Oh god I hated that bulky hunk of junk.  The gameboy may have been thick but at least it wasn't ridiculous.

I brought mine to school one day two years ago, with a master system adapter attached to it! That thing was twice as big then, and I couldn't resist pulling it out and playing it durring class. The original Phantasy star was fun in math.

I hope so and even if i purposely try to break it i still have a one-year warranty on it, but i wouldnt break it though even if it didn't have warranty.

Do you have a game stop near you? You could always trade in the 3000 and get a 2000 instead. And you won't get a higher price for a 3000 than right now. ^_^

Wow your parents sound exactly like mine.

Indeed the trading in Christmas present idea is bad on so many levels.

I don't want to get your hopes up Miroshi, but you may find these developments interesting:

GripShift Hello World + Sparta SDK: 1.50 - 5.02 exploit for ALL PSP models (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=134760)

Video on QJ.net with the program running on a PSP-3000 (http://pspupdates.qj.net/GripShift-Hello-World-and-Sparta-SDK-v1/pg/49/aid/127683)

Basically, they found an exploit that allowed them to run unsigned code on all PSPs up the the latest firmware (a relatively old way of finding an exploit).

In other words, they're one step closer to custom firmware on the TA-088v3 PSP-2000 and the PSP-3000.

As an aside, always take DAX's retirement claims with a grain of salt - he's 'retired' from PSP hacking half a dozen times, now.
