LionEditor and custom firmware version question

I'm looking to buy a PSP with a custom firmware installed so that I can use LionEditor. Will custom firmware version 5.50 Gen-D3 work with LionEditor? I read that it has to be firmware 3.71 M33 or higher but I don't know if this Gen-D3 is a different type of firmware altogether.

I'm looking online, and I'm only seeing complaints when it comes to that firmware, and FFT.

Complaints include:
"FFT worked fine on 5.50 GEN-D2, it all went bad on 5.50-D3"

"game save issues on 5.50 gen D3, final fantasy tactics"

"...patched with ppf-o-matic 3.0 but when I start the game, black screen appears, freezes and shut down my PSP... have CF 5.50 GEN-D3."

Hope I helped. I am no master with the psp version, but I don't want this to go unanswered and you buy something that won't work.
