how would you go about doing this

i'm experimenting to create a hack where all the job classes are just monster types (squire = goblin, knight = panther, etc) and having trouble with sprites.
i want the ability menus to work like human classes so i tried editing the knight abilities to be panther abilities and used the panther sprite for ENDT editing, but that looked jacked up. then i tried replacing the knight sprite with the panther sprite in shishi AND CDmage and that had the same result

...so in short, how do i change a human sprite to a monster sprite while not making it into a monster class (to keep human ability menus in battle)
