Post by: bamseyboy on October 16, 2008, 07:30:40 am
Could someone provide a step by step example about how, after recieving my pandora battery I would use that to hack my PSP, create a copy of WotL and patch it using FFTPatcher, then making it playable.

I have absolutely no idea.

I'm not sure about the hacking the PSP part,

but you need custom firmware,

pandora battery

and be able to access your WOTL .cso

extract it's ISO, patch it wth FFTPatcher, and save it as a separate copy of WOTL

then run that on the PSP

First question.  Do you also have the Magic Memory Stick?

Its relativly simple on how to hack your psp...

There are magic memory stick creator programs out there, google it, i cant remeber the one i used...

After that you will need Dax(Dark Alex) Dumper... i believe you need the 1.5 kernel addon, and im using firmware 3.90(4.01 has some issues with my psp D:)

Run the dumper, insert your ISO, and you  can either dump it to your  computer through usb, wirelessly, or straight to your memory stick in ISO format.

That is just a quick rundown, im a little busy, or id give you the whole step-by-step. but all of these things are on www.pspbrew.com (http://www.pspbrew.com) or on google :)

so you got your battery ready? basically, take your old battery out, put your magic memory stick in(google on hwo to create one) and put your pandora battery in, it will boot your psp into service mode, and then select X, (depending on what magic memory stick you use) and it will revert you to 1.5 firmware... than just download the CFW you want onto your psp and update it :P

Does it have to be a Magic Memory Stick? Couldn't it be a Max Memory Card?

Magic Memory Stick is a generic term, mine was just a 1gig memory stick. Basicaly a magic memory stick is a memory stick with the files needed to reload your psp into 1.5 firmware. it can be anything :)

Do those files include a folder called kd with a ton of other files inside, another folder called registry and UPDATE.PBP?

I honestly dont know, i had a program due it all for me, there is no harm in putting in your pandora battery and "possibly" your magic memory stick and giving it a try

If it doesnt work, it will "look" like it bricked, just a black screen... but no worries, just plug in your old battery and it should work fine after a reboot

and if it does brick thats what the panbattery and magic mem stick are for anyways

I'm having a go and when I put the pandora in the PSP booted up automatically but... the screen was blank... I pressed X and it's still blank. I'm waiting now, how long should it take?

And was the program Newbie somethingorother because I've got that, I copied and pasted the files from FatPand into the memory stick...

Turns out I've been using the totally wrong memory stick, only 64MB... well I'm giving up now. I'll try again when I've cooled off.

I totally cannot understand any of this. I need at least 256MB right?

you might want to get something bigger than a 256mb memory stick if you plan on storing games on it

For hacking your psp

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=94439

ok i actually brought you the page you need, it wasnt hard to find. please dont expect to get many reponses when you practically demand that someone help you, this isnt a psp hacking site. this section was put up because ppl (like me at one point) wanted to use the newer version of the game to play hacks on, even though most still use psx. the link above is all you need to hack your psp and any questions regarding the actual hacking of the psp should be asked there (provided it isnt already answered).

moving on.......

for hacking the iso

http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=932

follow the steps as stated, no shortcuts, and be sure to never replace any files withing the iso with a file of a different size and dont compress the iso either. make sure to always patch a fresh iso and change the properties of the iso so it isnt "read only". folder structure is case sensitive.
