Another glitch, I think.

Nobody can equip the Thunder Blade and I have all the sword using characters.

Also, Cait Sith targets enemies and does nothing.

Also, a question: I notice in the patch notes it mentions the Angel Brush, Relms ultimate brush from FFVI Advance, did you add in those weapons? If so, how are they gotten.

Updated the first post with a version that fixes Blitz. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Actually it was slightly more convenient because it made the boss of Zozo easier.  :P

I think I found a glitch.

Unless Suplex never hitting, ever, is intentional.
4
Did you change Flash back so that it only hit enemies again? Because I could have sworn it was hit-all in the previous version

Bioblaster needed nerfing?

I mean, it was still useful. But in this hack, I find that powerful single target damage is more useful then the weaker group damage. So Drill is by far the more useful Tool so far. And before that Bio Blaster to inflict Sap, followed by just attacking seemed better.

Updated the main post with a fairly large update. Enjoy!

Are saves from the previous version compatible?

Also, what exactly are the changes?

Game falls into the similar pattern after you do the negotiation grind. Get Cinqueda, do Wanted! (Giza Plains) to pick up Steal Weapon and Steal Armor, and then start making loots. However, the loot tables here are royally fucked. I'm still running into Leather Garb on quest enemies at level 15+. Once I grinded Montblanc from 1 to 11 (took about 10 minutes of a mission), he became useful again, although waaay outshadowed in damage by my Nu Mou and Ramza. A large problem is how shops open -they don't. I'm just past Cheetahs and the fucking store is selling one greatbow (without sniper skills) and that's it. At level 15+, that's not good at all. Fix that up.

Have... have you tried not doing the "negotiation grind"?

I mean, I tried doing it once, I quit five minutes in because it was so boring.

If all you're there for is the gameplay, a new narrative and different set dressings aren't going to qualify for a "worthy" sequel. In essence, you're doing the same thing, just prettied up. That's more indicative of an expansion pack or DLC than a sequel.

Except you're not. A new game has new stages, new challenges, etc.

I play for the gameplay and I can tell you for a fact that Disgaea 3 and 4, let alone the earlier games, are quite different.

In Disgaea's case, they do change up both in the various games... just not very much. Story is different, but the setting is the same and characters have obvious counterparts in other games made by Nippon Ichi. Gameplay is tweaked, but you're still doing much the same you did before.

Settings of the 4 Disgaea games

Disgaea 1: A netherworld in chaos after the Overlord dies, leaving no ruler

Disgaea 2:A human world cursed by an evil overlord.

Disgaea 3: A massive demon school where they teach how to be "evil"

Disgaea 4: A world with a corrupt government that the protagonist desires to overthrow.

Seem like pretty different settings to me.

So what, a several hour storymode with dozens of new maps isn't enough to be a sequel?

You have only one law in each fight, and it's fixed...it will never change for that fight
At the beginning of the match you select a "Bonus" (Slightly hit % bonus, regen on all units, etc etc..)
If you break the law, you lose the bonus
Also, if you break the law, you cannot resurrect units.
That's all, no prison, no gil/stats penalities

Also, if you go the entire fight without breaking the law, you get extra rewards.

The best part, naturally, was that every fight had a law tailored for it. Usually making it that you obeying it gave a slight disadvantage.

I... I reach the overworld, save (thankfully) and get into a random encounter.

I run into a single Leaf Bunny, try and Steal from it...

It casts freaking Holy on me.

That is the most amazing dick move I have ever seen.

I will admit that FFTA2 did the laws a million times better in every way.

Care to elaborate why? Darth and I were considering a version with and without laws anyways.

Mainly because the laws are part of what made FFT:A Unique. Plus, in theory they helped encourage a balanced team. (Since you might have one character's skillset or entire RACE banned)

I agree that the main problem was that walking around removed a big part of it. Are there stages in FFT:A that have exact set laws (I can't remember if there are) if so, I think a good idea might be to make it so that each mission stage has it's own law made for that stage, while the random battles follow the law calendar.

Law cards were really fun to mess with too.

*sigh* The pain of being someone who liked the laws...

Removing Laws is a terrible idea.

From what I have planned, Concentrate will be nerfed to hell. Maybe increasing accuracy by 5%, max.

Fairly sure that's what FFTA 2 did. :P Though, it they also added a spell Tranq that boosts accuracy as well.

I think a 10% boost over all would be good, actually.

Quote from: Kill_Bones on October 15, 2010, 06:40:50 pmI mean who actually talks like WOtL Characters?

Who actually talks like the people in the original FFT?

In real life, people hardly ever talk like you hear in fiction. The text in WoTL is poetic, and feels like something written to be performed on stage. It has style.

It's not realistic speech, but it was never meant to be.

Sorry, made a typo.

What I meant is that, with Concentrate, the Assassin's abilities would be as accurate as they currently are without it.

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / Re: FFTA: Rebalanced

I love FFTA and would love to see a rebalancing hack that makes things better. But you know what?

Removing things strikes me as pretty lame.

Assassins:. They're powerful because they're fast, and their instant kill abilities are too accurate. Rather then remove the class, balance it out. Reduce the class's speed, reduce the accuracy of their skills. Im think that, a good baseline might want to make it that any rebalancing done would make it that with Concentrate they would be as accurate (if not slightly less) as they are in the current game with concentrate.

Turbo MP: This can be balanced out simply by increasing the amount of MP used. So if double MP is too little for the boost given, then triple MP, etc.

Reflex, Strikeback: both these skills are effected by magic and special attacks still. Increase the presence of these enemies.

Doublecast/Dualweild/Ultima: You know what? Some abilities should be powerful. Each of these are gotten from rare equipment, with 999 AP cost. What should be done is that there should be battles that need abilities this powerful. In the game normally these are overkill. Basically, the post game should have challenges that throw this sort of crazy stuff at you.
