I know how to rename stuff! What should Ramza's class be called? After Chapter1, he really shouldn't be called a squire. Also, what other names should be changed? I know Arc Knight is a popular title, but it's too prevalent.
And what about Malak's set. Rafa's is Truth, so maybe... Lies!
No one really likes seeing numbers after their skills right? Why use Teleport2 when you can use Warp? The English language is more diverse than that!

I disagree. Numbers are far better than -ra, -ga, -ja (or anything people can come up with).

If I made a game from scratch, I'd probably name the fire skills Fire, Blaze, Flare, and Eruption or Pyroclasm. Of course, Flare is already well established in this game as the ultimate black magic, and a drastic change of name could confuse people who are very used to Final Fantasy names.
Of course, if I made my own game from scratch, it would be based off the elements Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth. Zodiac compatibility? That's just ridiculous for any game not based off Zodiac stones. But, alas, this game already has a base.

Flare should probably remain on its own if only to avoid confusion. I agree, it would work with the set though. Eruption is nice and functional; "Pyroclasm" is trying to be a super-serious badass word and looks silly in the process (this is pretty much how Square come up with all of their spell names). Unless you thought "Pyroclasm" was a word based on "Pyroclastic Cloud". It's not though. Some more super-hot things:

i can do it with a hex editor but its a pain for me if i try to make the name longer than the origional text.

Well, I stopped because I also have to do it with a hex editor. I had to delete names like 'Duke' for the long ones and stuff.
Apparently, someone is working on a text editor at this time. I think that someone is melonhead, but I'd wait until that comes out. Took me about 10minutes just to rename Ramza's squire class and his description. >.>

Perhaps Heretic for Chapter 4? Been a while since I've played, so I don't remember exactly when he was branded.
Still, if you go from Squire to Mercenary it sets a precedent for storyline related job names, and he's a heretic at the end.

Chapter 4 is when everything truly becomes established and the whole plot line of the game filled out, I personally think "Heretic" would work well... he's no Hero in the eyes of the people, nor is he a grand General (15 people doesn't count as an "army"). "Puppet" would be an interesting one, but is too one sided, so to speak. Ah, would "Saviour" work? Inadvertently, unbenknownst to most, he was the one saving the world from the Lucavi. As far as I understood it.

Though I like the idea of heretic, doesn't he get branded as a heretic near the beginning of chapter 3? Ah well.
By chapter 3, Mercenary doesn't really suit him either, does it? I guess 'Heretic' will do then. He certainly is no squire.

Why not Fencer? He's described as one in his Chapter 2 Brave Story entry, and it does fit the bill rather nicely.

if you rename deleta's 3rd job from "Arc Knight"
to "Lord" you have enough text space to change ramza's second squire job "Mercenary" and one letter short of the third ramza's "Heretic" after putting mercenary in place that is.. i did rename algus's job to "Fencer" but its the same amount of letters as Squire so....

Sure, any name changing (up to a point) is pretty easy.
Zozma, do you use the two "Duke" classes as a spare letter bank? I just got the impression that you are a bit too careful with your name changing. There is also at least one class called "None" which I changed for extra letter space.

i do use the two dukes, ive created skillsets for them and so on... besides four letters isnt significant enough, id rather dummy one of the many "divine knights" actually i used one of them to create "Mystic Knight" which will be my alicia makeover.
i also actually do prefer to use the fencer name once so i chose algus as the one, and ramza as chapter 2 and 3 merc and then 4 heretic sounds perfect.
