Title: Find a new host for FFH contest!
Post by: Xifanie on September 19, 2009, 03:29:50 pm
Gain awesomeness, and maybe something else.

If you feel you didn't contribute enough, now is your chance. We need to find a new host and move before October 1st because our current host is discontinuing its services.

To your browsers everyone!

By preference:
Unlimited Mysql databases (min 4), e-mail accounts(min 10), subdomains (min 10), FTP accounts (min 10).
We need a BARE minimum of 50gb bandwidth per month, and 2gb of space. The forum database likely requires 200mb uncompressed.

Oh and a high uptime too. iipanel had a 99.9% guarantee that it completely failed to respect.

Justhost.com maybe?

EDIT: Or bravehost.com I used them for a while.

Justhost.com has a fake price ($4 until you pay again at $7 full price)
I'm adding bravenet to the checklist; the price seems a bit high though.

Oh snap. I'll get on YouTube and see if my viewers know anything.

Wow, slightly more expensive than the fake price of justhost.com (referring to the first package), and it seems to meet all the needs and then some.  As long as they deliver what they advertise, that sounds great to me.

looks like Skip Sandwich wins!
I've done a lot of research and they seem to be a very reliable host. I'm current working to get crucial information about the domain name ffhacktics.com so that I can transfer it or whatever. After that I'm getting a sharkspace account and moving everything there. They'll even go get my stuff on iipanel and transfer the whole thing.

BlueHost is one of the worst hosts you can find on the entire www.

When do you expect we'll have to move?

I can't say. If my current host doesn't give me the information I need before October 1st, I'll probably need to purchase a new domain: ffhacktics.net or ffhacktics.org.
Of course I wouldn't want this to happen but now all I can do is wait.

Well you could try out iphouse, there not 100% a webhost, because there also my isp, but they rather responsive to problems.
http://www.iphouse.com/web-hosting-packages.html (http://www.iphouse.com/web-hosting-packages.html)

There are some things there that dont match up quite with what you have there, but it may be worth a look if its not too late

I'll pass... just in terms of bandwidth it would cost $45/m and we're gonna break the 50gb in about 2-3 months.
