I heard from SentinalBlade it's possible to increase the amount of Soldiers you have from the basic 14/16 (Vague).. to at leat 34 without glitching. If so, how do you go about this?
First off, its in the japanese version, and the structure of that is a bit different from hte US. All i did thoush was debug it.... searched for my party amount(11 at the time) and searched for a changed difference to 12, when i went and bought a squire. i kept doing so till all the differences were gone and i hit max party. i quickly looked at the segment of code in my disassembler, and within a few seconds and searching i raised the limit.
Yow. So it's impossible in the US/European version?
But the code should be the same in the us version. All we'd need to do is search for the original code in the US files, no?
that much is true. i was confusing myself with the UNIT.bin...which now has a completly different structure in the japanese due ot the edits and things...
Basically its the same process. unfortunatly, i dont know the specific file that its linked to, so if i released it, id have to release an edited ISO... >.>
Ah.. still, every bit helps. Thanks Sentinal! Soon... my army of 34 will RISE! I hope.
this will be nice for being able to keep more special units and still have some generics.
If you release it as a patch would it clash, as it were, with FFTpatcher?
just release the PPF then patch with FFT patcher for said patch, then release a new ppf for more units, and the patch.
hmm, this will be a great feature, but I was wondering is it possible to increase the max amount of chars per battle? I mean if you have 34 chars available and can only send in only 4 of them max(during events) it kinda sucks, but at the same time it's only fair as most of the time one's own units are a lot stronger then the AI. So anyone know if this is possible?
Theoretically you could but you'd have to write a custom emulator and asm hack the hell out FFT to make it happen.
the whole reason theres such a character per battle limit is because of the limit of different sprites per battle.......... what was it? 9 or 12 or something?
And that is because of the PS1's limited video RAM compared to other systems.
