My friend just got me into Edenbridge recently. At first, I thought it was painfully generic female-fronted "symphonic" uhh metal. But the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate their musicianship. And, as far as symphonic goes, they certainly went the right direction in "Paramount" (second link)

Best of Bootie 2009 is now out!  Best mashups of the year.

http://www.bootiemashup.com/bestofbootie2009/

My favorite tracks so far are "Call Me Uprising" (Blondie v. Muse) and Voodoo Sabatoge (Progidy v. Beasties Boys).  And of course the song I like more for its ironics but it's still so damn good and I've probably talked about this song like 3 times prior, but

I'm currently listening to and loving Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Night Castle" that they released this past October.  For those unfamiliar with the band, they do "rock operas," albums that tell stories, and their music is most often blends of classical and rock.

<JoZ> I'm not Wiz. Even if I were, I wouldn't be narcissistic enough to go under an alt and comment on my own team.

This guys does awesome remixes from the NES-SNES era. Vocals are (almost) always done by him.

EDIT: Fine, don't allow the &fmt=18 label in the youtube embedding links :(

Quote from: "Redux"The Protomen. Nuff said.
Oh My St. Ajora, fucking finally. If you haven't heard the Protomen, do your self a favor and check them out:

Three words: MegaMan. Rock. Opera.

Playlists of their two albums:
The Protomen - Hard Rock/Metal
Act II: The Father of Death - mostly Pop Rock, but more hot jams. (Protip: After "Hounds" skip to "Breaking Out")

Also, in their live shows, they put on costumes and full make-up, complete with modded helmets for Protoman and MegaMan.

On the subject, I really like the covers out of the Advantages (think their old name was Minibosses?)

  • Modding version: Other/Unknown
As the puppeteer pulls His strings,
The fragile doll spreads Her wings.
To dance a ballet as He directs
That is the Curse of the Marionette.

Controlled by a hand far, far above,
Forbidden to care, forbidden to love.
Forever shall She mime what She cannot know,
Until the day She loses her illusory glow.

Propped up on a stilt where wine once stood,
The Marionette is, once more, only wood.
Her glossy eyes have lost their shine,
Her silken hair, turned to twine.

What a fate awaits the poor little doll,
Who dances and runs but cannot stand at all.
And the puppeteer is applauded at the end of every show,
But the audience's joyous response the doll can never know.

I am but a doll on an endless stage,
Dancing for others whilst I slowly age.
My puppeteer sits far above,
Hiding His face behind a white glove.

And when I have aged to nothing but wood,
I will be tucked away in a closet where a doll once stood.
Then, as I gather dust and the world passes by,
I will be forgotten by the vast, blue sky.
