Title: FFT: Parted Ways General Discussion Thread
Post by: Eternal on December 18, 2010, 10:06:27 am
Use this thread to discuss glitches and other issues with the demo (and the final version, eventually). Also, this topic can be used for discussing other Parted Ways suggestions, as well.

Here's some preview videos:

You do realize the demo was only Sand Rats, Sand Rats II, Thieves' Fort, and Igros Castle, right? :P

Preview 3, you got unlucky with Stop. He has a ton of abilities at his disposal. He just didn't feel like using them, apparently.

I was able to load the demos no problem but i didn't fully realize that the new game would be different from the saves you did. but i did enjoy testing it, overall i like your ideas into this new patch :) keep up the good work.

For the sniper- what is the difference between eagle and precision?

On the patch they do the same damage and accuracy.

Aim has Weapon Range. Eagle's Splendor will always hit at 3 panels, but can miss.

I am not a fan of the ability Thor's Wrath as a counter attack. Trying to hit a person on a six panel spread is rare and kind of pointless. I would not use the ability.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently. I've been busy, but I'm still working on skills and such. Nothing really to show off, but things are pressing forward!

OK, so, skills are pretty much done for the most part. I'm now moving on to ENTD's for Chapter 1 and 2's battles for Part 1. After, I'm going to get to work on special jobs. Things are progressing smoothly, and things are (mostly) on schedule!

That is great, once we have final chapter one, I weill do EVTCHRs, since I got all the tools needed and ready to use, hehe.

Is FDC still working on the job editor?

Not a job editor, a formula editor. A tool that can make whatever formula for skills that you will. That's mostly what I'm waiting for. :P

Well, I'd like to say that I like the...new coinance system. Pretty cool to think on it. I also thought interesting having simplified potion to only 1 type (as far as I can see) and input those FFX based items, such as the Curtain family. Also, all the new items look important and situational, which is something I didn't see in the original, where we could perhaps NEVER use something like Maiden's Kiss (and how do you bottle a maiden's kiss, for that matter? oO), for example.

Item effects, cost and descriptions seem really nice so far and I'm also amused by how you rewrote the dialogs in the storyline (of course you seemed still not having changed anything on Bars dialogs, for 'Death Corps' name was visible at Rumors still, and I believe it's not an urgent matter either).

Double Exp seemed too cheap. But, given that much of our capabilities seem to depend on items and skills learned, I'm supposing that Leveling Up might not be that important, is that right?

Random battle can be hard! This is good. :) But killing monsters seemed a bit easier than expected. I think they can use some more defensive statuses, but I'll see on late game how that feels by.

One thing that slightly bothered me. Created the scenario in Rage Comics form to be more expressive.

It means you restore the damage you deal, lol. The comic was funny though. We need more of these. :P

Oh... so that's what it means. Okay

But if you take it literally, it kinda sounds as if it only takes away HP and not get it for himself. No correction needed now I guess.

Thanks for commenting about the comic :) Hehe, done it out of boredom

Something happened to me again while playing... Rage comics will tell you the story

Almagest Rage Comics

I just like to express stuff this way :)

Yeah, when you change monster abilities like that, their menu sometimes lies. Not sure if there's a fix for that at all yet. :(

I'd like to note that monster HP is nerfed in the update I'm working on. :P

That battle against that horde of tonberries was so annoying, mainly because I had to watch all of them cast haste on themselves, not to mention karma having that almighty range. Lucky that my Rafa was so baddass.

I love the atmosphere for the Tonberry fight. It's dark, rainy, the creepy music...

HP nerf?

Sure, why not? Cuz my Behemoth King's HP was already 606 on lvl 28, and that's pretty high.

Just finished your patch today. Man, that 90 minute battle with Altima was intense!!!
The Final Orbonne Battles were so fun! Rofel, Kletian and Balk all died from one Split Punch attack. Done by Agrias. I remember saying "Suck this Foo!" to them while the Split Punch animation was showing.

Finally! Another playthrough that I've finished.

Great patch man. Oh, and I may never look at 1.3 the same way again. Those small differences that add up that make really big ones. Especially in the ability names, like:

Item = Alchemy
Weapon Guard = Parry
Move MP Up = Manastroll
Guts = Fundaments

Really influencial to me.

Do you think Ultima should have less HP? I don't want the battle to be ridiculously long.
Title: Re: FFT: Parted Ways General Discussion Thread
Post by: skiploom188 on April 16, 2012, 11:28:32 am
I think that his first form should have less HP. I think I've spent half the 90 minutes battling the first one. Then the other half on the final form. I don't really know, Cuz the final form keeps hitting those Steel Needle traps over and over. I think 3 times so that's like -3000 on his HP.

On my 1.3 Easytype Altima battle, the entire match only lasted for 1 hour. I guess it needs a little fix.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully you'll do DD as well, which has some very fun battles. :D

I don't know about DD. I'm not really the DD person.

But even if I did...

Can I still access it without Mustadio in my team? During my battles he died and crystallized in Lionel (battle with Gaffy). WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE!?

That's why I used Agrias as the one to fill out his place. I never really liked her, because of her MP demands. But I'm now starting to enjoy using her. Hell, I even ignored Cid cuz Agrias was sooooo ahead of him in terms of opened jobs and learned abilities. She was able to reach Assassin job :)

Whoops, talked too much.

So back to question, No Mustadio, no DD?

DD doesn't require Mustadio at all. :P

I think you're the only person I know to say they had a special unit crystal but not reset and redue the battle =p

Don't misunderstand, it was a first time for me in fact. I wanted to challenge myself to see how far I would go despite the casualties. Well, I've finished the whole patch :), total of 2 casualties. To be honest, I have a spare save file where Mustadio and that generic are still alive and well. So, I can redo the entire game from that point with him still intact. But what I did was save in a different slot(not overwriting the Pre-Lionel Battle) and continue with chapter 3 and so on.

DD doesn't require Mustadio at all. :P

Then, we're off to Deep Dungeon! After I overcome my laziness that is.

If DD's treasures alone aren't worth it to you, if you beat Elidibs in END and rebattle the Lucavi down there, you can recruit them to your party. So DD is worth it for that challenge. :P

EDIT: You can also learn Dark Sword and Night Sword Blue Mage style in DD if that interests you at all.

Good luck! Let me know how each battle goes as you go through DD! :)

EDIT: I should note that only Ramza can learn Dark/Night Swords, and only in his base job.

And here I was lamenting that I couldn't learn that from Gaffgarion.

You can get it from a few different folks in DD, Gaffy included.
