Hmm, really I think it might be the hair which is the problem, I might be asking too much, but is it even possible to make a male's face from Balmafula's portrait? I see these people as very stoic and always intune with the spirits about them, calm and aloof.
I apologize for the rather bizarre thoughts on this one.

Hmm...I'll try my hand at a Balmafula modification, though I won't make any promises. For now here's my EsperBlade portrait.

EDIT: See the top for the Balmafula edit. I need to work on the chin and make the look a bit more unique...anyone wanna help.

Wow! I like it! That is actually very well done, I can't help but think something is off on the face though... hmm, I'm sure someone will be able to tell if they say it. The Balmafula transition is nearly perfect!

Adjust the hair and the headband's angles, mav!

Alright, I'll try and work on it. The thing about Balmafula's portrait is that it's at a bit of an angle--everything is skewed, in comparison to most portraits. So instead of utilizing existing portraits as bases, I have to kinda figure out how everything would look at a different angle. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna continue working on it, it's just gonna take me a while to get things looking decent.

Another option is to try and mimic Balmafula's look on the other portrait: get those closed eyes without the tilting face...

EDIT: See attachment.

I agree--even with the chin and body replacement, he's still got a somewhat feminine look about his face. This latest attachment features a bit of changes in terms of shading, but nothing too glaringly obvious.

O yeah, his face cant look so narrow to the chin, must be more bulky or... something like that.

Sorry to chime in so late with this but that sprite looks like total ass. Look at the shading on the cape. What on earth is going on with that? It looks messy, and the light source on the cape is conflicting both with itself and where the light reflects on the rest of the body. Why does the right arm look like that? Its not shaded. It looks like tetris blocks shoved together in a shitty, low-scoring way. And what is that other dark green patch under the cape? Is it more cape? Why is it sticking out like that? I don't mean to be rude, but can we get a better spriter up in here? Is Smash still around?

I would but my computer is fucked. This is someone elses. If no one else has made something better within a few days (when my computer is fixed) I'll have a go.

Smash has always been willy-nilly to these projects, I would rather rely on those that I feel comfortable relying on, Smash I fear is simply not dedicated enough (really he has no reason to be dedicated to this project anyhow) his rather aloof attitude towards most things makes him difficult to approach, also I wouldn't want to fill up his plate. So we have to make do with what's available.

All in all I am grateful for any help I receive from the people of this community. There's always room for people to improve, I'd like this to be a testing ground for those people, if possible.

Is Smash still around? I haven't seen many of his posts, as of late.

Anyhow, here's an update to the portrait: wider face, thicker eyebrows.

The far side of the face looks a little strange.. kinda like there's a ridge in his face or something.
