Final Fantasy Hacktics

If there's a similar topic to this one, feel free to direct me to it. Due to the nature of it, I was a little unsure what to search in the Search box, so I could have easily missed an already made topic about this.

Anyway. So, I finished playing through the Call of Power patches (or mods, I'm unsure as to what to call them), and of course, being a new member, I'm obligated to aspire towards projects that are probably well beyond my skill level 

So my question is, what are the basic steps to be able to create an entirely new story in the game? To my knowledge, most of it is event editing, correct? Can it be done mostly in Easy Vent? If not, what other programs are needed (aside from the Patcher, orgASM, TacText, etc), Is there coding involved? Obviously projects like that take a long time and a lot of effort, but I just sort of want to to know what it entails to create something along those lines.

So, this is the first sprite that I've done. It's pretty simple, I just replaced a blue oracles head. I had to use 2 different heads, so there are a few inconsistencies... But, I don't think it's that noticeable.. What does every one else think? Appreciate any feed back

Edit: I had to alter a few colors pertaining to the belt of the sprite, because it went over 16 colors. It's no longer orange, it is now grey.

Searching the site, I've found no tutorials on this matter, so I figured I'd ask. How do you create custom spells within the game? I know that changing the looks of the spells and what not requires a Hex Editor, which I'm not going to delve into at the moment. But, I just want a new spell, for the sake of simplicity let's call it 'Magic Missile', that has all it's own damage and status properties (aside from visuals), to be added to a certain class. Is there a tutorial for this on the site that I missed?

Apologies for my plethora of poorly worded questions lately. I'm rather helpless.

Anyways, I'm trying to patch my ISO through FFTPatcher, and it's asking me for a cd-tool.exe. I scoured the forums, and from what I gathered this was previously available on the download section of the site, but it is no longer. And the exe didn't come with the Patcher Suite or anything of that nature, so perhaps I'm missing something?

And, if you want to know what version I'm using... I'm unsure, what ever this site supplied me with in the Downloads section.

So, I was attempting to follow a tutorial on how to Create New Custom Characters (this one, to be exact: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=5868.0)

I ran into this problem, and this is more than likely going to be a stupid question. However, I couldn't really find a sufficient answer on the forums, but pardon me if this has been answered before.

When I try to import my .bmp into FFTEVGRP, I get the error "Bitmap has wrong resolution". It wasn't explained in the tutorial, and I'm pretty much useless on my own, so I've no idea how to get this error to stop popping up. Any advice?

So, I'm new to all this, and trying to get the hang of all the information on this site.

Though, the download link to CD Mage on the site links me to some abandoned Portuguese site. I've tried google, and they all link to equally broken sites as well, or the exact same one.

So I'm stuck. Does any one know of another place to download CD Mage at? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

So, I've been having troubles with my emulators trying to play Tactics, and I really don't know where else to turn.

When I load my iso on epsxe, it doesn't show anything and stays on a black screen. No sound or anything. I assumed it was something with my video plug ins, which are

P.E.Op.S OpenGL Driver 1.78
P.E.Op.S Soft Driver 1.78
Pete's D3D Driver 1.77
Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.77
Pete's OpenGL Driver1.77
Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9

I've tried and tested all of them. The tests say the plug ins are okay, but I still get the black screen.

So I tried it on the PSX 1.13 emulator, and on that, the screen loads the Sony Presents and Squaresoft logo screens, but everything after that is a black screen.

The log says this:
cuebin: No .cue file found! Will attempt to guess format assuming single track.
cuebin: Seems to be MODE1/2048
play_xa: unhandled xa mode 000000ff
play_xa: unhandled xa mode 000000ec
play_xa: unhandled xa mode 00000002

and continues like that.

I pretty much have 0 clue what the problem is. I don't think it's my graphics card, cause I have a pretty decent one. Any ideas? And thanks a ton for any help you can give me.

Alright, so, Tactics is one of my favorite games of all time. Back in the day, I used to enter obnoxiously complex Gameshark codes to edit my characters on the game, or get Zalbag in my party, or you know, things like that. So I stumbled upon this site, and all the things you people do to the game is just fascinating to me. And I'd like to download some things and try things out for myself but...I don't know one thing about hacking.

Not a single thing. I don't know how to "patch" the game, I don't know how to implement any of the hacks, absolute 0. You all don't have to tell me how to do any of that (unless you want to, of course) but, if you could direct me to maybe another website, or another topic on this board that explains the bare basics of things like this, that'd be greatly appreciated. And it'd be nice if you didn't boo me off the website. And yeah I know hacking and modding and doing all of this is really difficult and probably hard to learn, but, still, I consider myself a good learner... I guess..
