Post questions relating to content of the patch and how to install it here. Make sure to read the "Download the Patch" and "Final Fantasy Tactics: Complete" threads thoroughly first.
NOTE: Do not ask where to find a clean FFT ISO.
sorry for the bother, but is this a patch with just the text of the psp version included or does it have the psp exclusives?

This patch has new cutscenes?
I read in the old topic that you were able to add (or just to remake) the Meliadoul/Cletienne/Ramza scene.
I'm asking because I'm really... well.. Fascinated with this patch and I will use it as a new base to mine, as you advised me. But I've already edited every event in mine to give it a better translation, without been the flourish WotL one. I even changed some names so they could match what I think they were supposed to be (Argus, Wiglaf, Chretien), and I dont want to lose all that work...
Oh, and what you made with the accents in "Cúchulainn", "Sortilége" and "Septième"?
Their work has more weight than that
they've already put the names at the Mission Objectives (Save/Defeat Argath etc.)
as for the cutscenes I think they're not inserted yet
Adding a cutscene or a accented letter is REALLY harder than put the names at the Mission Objectives. ^^
I mean, I was capable to make it in my patch and I'm nothing, really nothing, compared to then.
Putting in the accented letters is easier than the mission objectives. The mission objectives required me to make letters that didn't exist in the font in the right size. The accented letters are just a few pixels over existing letters and then pasted into a few files.
The real work would be the new cut scenes since they are much more complex to edit.
Serious, Vanya?
You could just have searched for the FFT font in the net. Someone made those letters.
That's what I've done, and what the other Brazilian translation project did too.
When you helped me with the fonts, I had already done half the editions in the missions objectives. And I work practically alone.
Didn't know anyone had done that. Didn't even occur to me to look.
Am I... missing something here? When I tried this with Mercenaries, I got a Really ugly looking presentation, how did you stop that from happening?
It was just a mistake with how ShiShi was handling the palette LD. It is fixed now obviusly, but Setzer used a different technique I'm sure since I don't believe he used shishi.
Interesting... guess I should wait for Melonhead to release that version, thanks Cheetah.
Are there any ASM hacks ("bug fixes") that are included with FFT:C?
In the Bug/Glitch Discussion thread the Solved/Implemented bug fixes are the ones that are in the current version of the patch. So the main one in right now is the JP Scroll Glitch and a few other minor ones.
So I can use accented letters to my heart's content in the sound novels? I need them for Pablo's hammy French accent.
Yep, those shouldn't be a problem.
I know for the most part the PSP text was ported straight over, but what about names? Particularly Izlude/Isilud ? That one grinded my gears the most. A friend of mine who knows japanesse agrees that is absurd even from a translation standpoint.
A couple of the names from the new translation are a little questionable ('Folmarv' sounds like something you say when your mouth is full) but the rest of the translation is so good that I can overlook it. But all the names from the new translation remain in this patch, yeah.
I can write volumes about all the name localization in both translations that make me cringe.
In that particular case I believe it should have been "Volmarv", but that isn't part of the scope of this project any more than adding custom jobs. Fortunately, once the the patch is complete you will be free to make any changes you like. I know I will. ^_^
Okay, I tried to download the patch at the front page, but when I clicked the link all I got was this..

I've been looking for an alternative link in the forums, but so far nothing.
Could someone help me out here?
Yeah, I had the same problem. They know of it now. Not sure when something will be done about it. Now that you are a member of the forum, you can download it from this thread:
http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3659 (http://www.ffhacktics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3659)
You have to be signed in to see the file.
So I needed to be logged-in to download. Well, that explains a lot.
Thanks.
Geez, thanks for pointing that out. I never knew about it, and neither was it meant to be that way. I fixed all the forums and now anyone should be able to see/download from any forum.
Very nice. Responsive administrators please me.
I was wondering can I patch this with FFT 1.3?
and if I can which would be the best order to do it in?
not directly, no.
.ppf files only work off CLEAN images. A tainted image that's already been patched with a ppf, subjected to another ppf, is going to have a metric asston of errors.
The best thing you can do is just download the 1.3easytype:complete patch atm -- the advanced text edits this game has makes them rather... untransferrable otherwise unless you have some more advanced tools.
There will still be some sprite flubs and minor graphic glitches, and you miss out on the vormav 1v1, but you keep the PSP script with the 1.3 gameplay
ah I see, thnx man I'll look into that
I think I already asked this before the Great Deleting of 2010 (3-29 Never Forget), but can I use your patch as the base for another patch, which is nothing but gameplay changes?
By can I, I mean two things:
1. Is it possible to do it without bugging it up?
and
2. May I?
And Poco Loco, Dr. Rockzo always stutters on the letter C.
C-c-c-cocaine!
You can totally use FFT:C as a base, that was one of the main reasons it was created. If you just work off of this to begin with there is nothing you could do that would break it that wouldn't break a clean FFT ISO too. You just can't apply other patches on top of it, like 1.3 or Mercs. Make sense?
Could you by chance open an iso of FFT 1.3 with FFTPatcher and then use FFTPatcher to directly patch an iso of FFT:C? It seems like a quick and dirty way to get the skill changes from 1.3. Of course you'd have to change the sprites and text manually as well, but hey...
Would that work?
Thanks. I already opened up an ISO patched with FFT: Complete. FFTPatcher works fine, but I haven't tried fftactext yet. The only problem I can see is fftactext bugging up, because I intend to change the equipment and the equipment descriptions.
when i tried doing the fftactext on the patch. it freezes when it get to WLDHELP.LZW. Could I jus copy and paste most of the stuff from the FFT:C and extract the TEXT.EXT file and import it to another ISO without any problems?
Opening FFT:C with TacText should make it completely editable. The problem is likely that we used a slightly modified version of TacText the fixed some bugs that aren't fixed in the current public version. I will talk to Melonhead about it.
Hey has the fftactext issue been resolved? seeing as one of the reasons this patch exists is to be a new starting point for new patches, a standard fftactext is incredibly important.
