Kagebunji's sprites- Moving on...

Yeah, but it's your fault for not fixing it.

Zidane's critical frame looks really good, in my opinion. I don't see any flaws--the tail takes some getting used to, but it's a solid frame.

Oh and see my attachment for the green on Vivi's hat.

Yes, we know that you know the concept of copy/paste the parts from existing sprites, Kage but sometimes, copy/paste don't work out perfectly. You have to smoothen them out, adjust them a little bit and etc. For example, those red colours from Female Ninja. Also, in my opinion, I think her arms are a little to big, especially her left arm. Maybe try use Alma's arms? Just a thought.

I think I will fix the arms, on walking and other hand-like animation everything looks fine. I never work with arms cause it's a big time-eater, and when I work too long on one sprite, I just got bored with it, please understand me.


About how long her arms are, look at this pic, it's the same length as my sprite

I'm talking about the width, not length. The length is fine, I can see that but its abit big/wide, in my opinion though.
Well, if you don't work the arms, I'm afraid that this sprite isn't going to turn out well. The means of custom sprite is you get a base, copy/paste parts from existing sprites, fix/adjust/smoothen them out to/till they fit. If you want to make a custom sprite but don't fix the custom parts to fit the sprite, the custom sprite won't work out.

No, we didn't understand each other. I will work with arms, I'm just not too eager to do so. I will fix it soon.

EDIT: tried to fix the shading of arms(and also did fifth frame), and I even finished the first set of arms! It took me 3 minutes, lol

Well, if you want to show the five basic frames and get comments, then you'll have to fix it. Otherwise, we can't say anything other than the arms. People's eyes tend to focus more on bigger details, like arms, legs, heads and etc and if you have problems with those details, people tend missed out other errors like mispixeled and etc. So, this becomes a problem for us to help you perfect the sprite. Also, if you look at the reference picture, you see that her sleeves have a curve down shape at the shoulder there. So, if possible, try Alma's arms and see if they works ^^

Those arms look good to me. The shading seems better as well--this sprite definitely looks very close to her in-game form from FFIX. You're doing great.

For the back of her hair maybe you should consider using the archer. She has a similar pony tail thing.



Also I don't mean this as an insult, but are you color blind Kage? You just keep on using these really strange colors like the maroon and the green which aren't anywhere else in the sprite and I don't know where they are coming from. I know we had someone doing spriting at one point that was color blind.

I will add this ponytail for sure Cheetah, thanks. About colors, it's really hard to balance it, it is supposed to be dark brown but it resembless green for some reason, quick fix soon. Is orange good, or "maroon" as well?

I already tried Alma's arms, it just doesn't look right, they are way too small.

EDIT: To all peoples who see green on my sprites: go and look on the palette! It's brown! It isn't my fault that it is so close to green and resembless it!

Um... no.  That's definitely green on Vivi's hat.  Sort of an evergreen color.

I did one frame for Steiner, it doesn't resemble him too much IMO, I need your ideas suggestions people. His arms are from Zalbag, belt is custom-made as well as feather, legs are from Squire with a bit of custom. I thought about using Cavalier/Sain's armor (Smash's sprites), but it doesn't look any different plus it is not cooperating with belt. I think Agrias/Lancer Male armor might give better results. Oh, and I think he doesn't look enough bulky.

Hmm, Steiner is gonna be tough. His body shape has completely different proportions than what we see in FFT. I think you're going to need to give him a very large chest and stubby legs. The arms look pretty good, but the helmet/hat needs work. Make the rim smaller...the base of it needs to be a little smaller than Vivi's, but the top needs to be pretty much be like the male Oracle's, I think.

Vivi is looking great. Are you already maxed out on the palette?

Maybe base Steiner's proportions on that guy who assraped Rafa? Like mav said, it'll need a larger chest and stubby legs.. if possible. Overall the body looks good. The biggest change you'll have to make is the head. It looks like you pasted a cowboy hat onto him. You gotta keep the same silver and shades as the armor he's wearing. Mav gave some useful tips also.

Good idea about using Barinten or Rudovich as base, but they don't have full sprites, Zozma was working on it but didn't completed it, I will search for it and see. About his hat, I know it's completely off, but I'm not good at doing custom hats :/, I have idea though.

About Vivi, I'm at 28 colors (I dunno how I did this), I tried to reduce colors but It is loosing too much with quality, I wonder how Jimmy did his Vivi.
