Title: Story Battles Update
Post by: Argg0 on October 27, 2007, 11:31:14 pm
So, I've been playing with the Event stuff and changed the story battles a bit.

I did not change levels (only in two battles >_>)

I changed almost every single battle a bit (some will go unnoticed probably). I have not tested everything, Just got to chapter 2.

I'm not going to spoil what I did, I want you guys to be surprised! :D

Note that I did not change any skill set or AI Flag, only the battle setups.

The entd4.ent file can be find here:
http://www.zshare.net/download/44979267bc4132/ (http://www.zshare.net/download/44979267bc4132/)

To update, do the same as the phil patch, but, instead of scus, you'll change entd4.ent

It can be found inside the Battle folder.

I hope you guys enjoy.

Will it impress me thew? :O

I don't know what it takes to impress you...

Well, things that I changed are like...

Job levels
Jobs (we'll be seeing Dancers, Mimes, Bards, Samurais, Geomancers, Ninjas more often)
Equipments
Setups

Some battles that were a joke are going to be quite hard. Biggest changes were done on Chapter 4, but there are some interesting things pretty early on, also in chapter 2.

Chapter 3 is ok, I think that most battles there are nice and not need changes. I tried to fix rooftop to be descent, but it was quite hard... ended almost not touching it.

I need to rebuild a new Image, I completely broke my current Image because of mindless editing and now even the first event of the game won't load. ;o

Doesn't look like it but editing battles is long right?

It took me so much time just for 4 special battles, So I assume your customization is rather minimal.
Though it covers all special battles.

There is a difference between creating a new battle completely set and altering one...

It's not like I'm going to go around throwing random Vormavs equipped with full rare gears with specific skill sets... <_<

Are you playing with the phil patch as well or just your entd4?

Depending on how well of a job you did, I might forgo editing entd4 altogether. I did jazz up the intro battle...

Nope, I'm playing Vanilla.

I had a hard time on some battles, so if I add phils pat... <_<

I really don't know how to handle so many units, gotta stop playing SSCC...

Or go level up... <_<

Oh wow, that much harder? I'll have to try it.

Post by: Argg0 on October 29, 2007, 09:56:03 am
So, did anyone try it?

When's the first chance I get of seeing if I patched it right? What should I look out for

Edit: Nevermind, found it. Looks pretty fun thus far, going to try this along with 1.2 for the first time. Didn't have time to before so meh =p

With dash? That's worse than me. :P

Did you ever add units to a battle or even move the move a unit on the field? I was expecting that. :?

Post by: Argg0 on October 30, 2007, 01:24:59 am
I wasn't sure if that was possible, it is?

And no, it won't get much harder, just a bit harder than normal.

So, if I mess with X and Y I can change units place and if I add someone on a blank spot I it will add?

Good to know. Might start over doing the update...

A unit on an obstacle will not create however. Ah, and I'll point out Z is automatically set.

If the party is ALLOWED 5 units, there is no way there can be 12 different units (you can still put them at the same spot for randomization) without getting things glitchy.

1 Ramza vs 12 Delita on rofl battle ended up in CT freezing after everyone's turn completed. What? I wanted to try a 1vs15 battle. :(

Well in that case I never saw a Death Corps Geomancer XD

Some plans for the next version...
- Maybe, Making all enemies based on our level, or higher (explained later).
- All units on their most effective Gender.
- Smarter setups.
- Maybe mess with random battles... addind stuff like Germinas' Rare battle, so that people get access to rare items.
- Add units to some maps and change place of some units.

My main concern is making that too hard. On Chapter 4 I feel free to make hard stuff (you'll understand when you get there on this one... hehe), but before that I kinda feel that it's wrong to make stuff hard.

Another concern about is about making enemies on our level. That would hurt powerlevels, but would help people who play mainly the story battle, since the enemies would be wearing low level based gear and so...

And, this time, I'll be open to suggestions.

New classes? Argg0, did you plan on adding this to my patch or were you making new classes to go with your update?
Title:
Post by: Argg0 on November 14, 2007, 12:50:53 pm
I'm making new classes? That's news to me!

I thought you weren't too. Karsten, I think you were misinformed. At this point, the one who is changing the story battles for Sigma is me. It sounds like you are fusing the two.

Hmm...I wouldn't mind seeing some more monsters in story battles. Whatever happened to Chocobo-Knights? I think it'd be interesting to have to fight enemies who had to be on Chocobos. Is there any possible way you can do that, with the coding of the game as it is, without messing with too much junk?

I'm really interested in all this coding business, but I don't know much, I admit. Could someone link me to Zodiac's Workbook? I've heard tale of it before, but can't find it.

DarkOmega: Your avatar is sweet. Where did you get it? With that note, now on to your post.

I am looking into the Chocobo-Knights myself, but as of now I do not know how to make them. If you can figure out how to do it, let me know.

All Zodiac's workbooks are at http://auritech.eu/
Just click on the Downloads tab when you get there. You will be able to tell which one you want by the descriptions.

Karsten: Most of the good ones will be in chapters 3 and 4, but the entire game is getting a overhaul, to the fullest extend of my ability. Random battles will be looked at after I get all the new stuff corrected; however, story battles are one of my top priorities.

... but it moves... you don't like stuff that moves. ¬¬

Sorry Omega, but we don't know how to make AI hop on chocobos or start on them.

I could work with sigma, but only after it's done.

I've gotten used to your bouncy thing, otherwise I would have acted on it by now. I suppose just because it was Sephiroth...

Well,  getting used to my bouncy thing is kinda bad, you know?

<_<
Title:

Okay, what I meant to say was the following:

I have grown accustomed to your moving avatar, and for that reason I no longer have a problem with moving avatar. Not only that, but also DarkOmega's avatar is smaller and doesn't seem to move as much. The fact that my favorite villain is Sephiroth caused me to disregard the motion, and I felt compelled to comment on his avatar.

Furthermore, assuming that I understand your innuendo, I have no way of viewing your bouncy thing and thus you should assume that I am talking about your avatar. Nevertheless, my lack of clear statements was the cause of this, and I shall make more clear comments in the future.

"... her loss..." - Snake (I know it should be your/his, but then I wouldn't be quotting...).
