Title: Suikoden patcher
Post by: MasterGrand on September 26, 2011, 05:45:04 pm
Hello guys

Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 04:06:29 pm
but can you get Ted or Odessa back with it?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 05:16:45 pm
i never had a problem with them in events, it normally just removes them and forces you to have certain party members, but at these points you always permenantly lose those two
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: MasterGrand on September 27, 2011, 06:35:54 pm
What is the solution then ?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 06:59:25 pm
well i am not sure, does this game erase Ted and Odessa's data after they are removed from the party or are they stored like everyone else?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: MasterGrand on September 27, 2011, 08:02:40 pm
I don't think so removed, because I restore odessa body sprite and i replace it to other sprite character in castle also i change digit other character to oddesa by hex edit  but only somethhing not work, portrait not show in message, only body is changed .
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 08:20:16 pm
oh, well since they are only intentionally added into the active party once each, perhaps their original data is not stored. the way I did it before with gameshark was to trick the game into thinking they were another character so they didnt get removed, then changing them back with joker code. but because a certain spot in the story forces you to have a specific 5 characters, you can only take one to the end of a game
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: MasterGrand on September 27, 2011, 08:53:46 pm
because the system specific  in party members changed to 5 but also you can change once more to  specific 6 .
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 09:13:15 pm
its almost too complicated to mess with, kind of like how its too messy to get Teepo back in breath of fire 3,(if anyone has ever tried)
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher

you want Teepo back after missing ? you mean that or what ?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on September 27, 2011, 10:55:23 pm
huh, thats a totally different game, but im describing how complicated it was to get him back in your party, suikoden is almost as difficult process

Title: Re: Suikoden patcher

this code did not actually "add" members, it changed the ones that were in your party (not their stats only appearance)

and to be honest there was a trick to it, which i forgot how to do... and unfortunately i havent played in so long i dont remember the code

While it would be fun hacking Suikoden, I took a look at the files on the game disc and it looks like there is no way, short of opening them up in a hex editor and searching for shit, to find anything.

You need to work on your English a bit.  What are enable characters and status?

I mean STR AGI DEF INT HP Status & about enable characters i mean all characters join us

You mean starting stats, equipment, and abilities?  Over in the SaGa Frontier community, we call that the Initial Character Data, or Starting Character Data.

You don't need a team.  If I can find ability and item data for SaGa Frontier, SaGa Frontier 2, Saiyuki, and Tactics Ogre - The Knight Of Lodis, then you can find it for Suikoden.  I can offer some  pointers, but I don't promise that they'll make much sense.

how i can make program open sprites for import & export ?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Pickle Girl Fanboy on January 26, 2012, 03:56:09 pm
First of all, if you want to do anything, you need to improve your communication skills.  This means improving your written English.  The easiest way to do that is to read books written in English.  Find something that you like, which entertains you, and which offers a reasonably easy entry into the language.

I recommend Stephen King.  'Salem's Lot is a good choice.  It's an easy read and a decent story.

If you want to import and export sprites, you need something which will let you look at a game file and easily see if there are any images in it.  Try Tile Molester.

I use it but nothing, i want program like ffh spriter
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Pickle Girl Fanboy on January 27, 2012, 07:20:41 pm
But nothing happens?  You have to adjust the settings.  Try 4bb, planar, reverse-order.

There is nothing like ShiShi for Suikoden, and it's likely that there won't be anything for a long time, because programming a sprite editor is not a trivial task.

I found the code that lets me keep Ted or Odessa in my party. Ill post it tonight.

the trick with this code is simple, it changes character in slot 4 into the character in slot 1 so, if you put Ted in
slot 4 and activate this code just before an event that removes them, or party members in general, you can trick the game into not removing him.

then after that event simply change the value from slot 1 to slot 4 to change it backto ted (do NOT enter any battles while ted is changed into the other character or it will be permenant lol)

Note: I've attempted to keep both Ted and Odessa till the end of the game and that proved rather difficult. the best thing to do is use the code on slot's 2 and 3 instead so that if theres an event that removes all party members they do not shift slots. inevitably you will probably have to choose which of the two you want to keep if you attempt to take both. Odessa is one of the fastest characters in the game and ted is also a top tier caster type. these two are great just change their equipped runes with code lol

Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on May 07, 2012, 01:09:22 am
here it is: 301B8011 0002

as is this code changes character in slot 4 into a fake copy of character number 3, i assume the 02 value is for the 3rd character and that 00 would be the first slot, im also assuming that the 11 changed to 0F would be to alter slot 2...

well thats how u keep ted or odessa
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher

what happens to them at time when you are forced out of having a party? Is there a way to make them selectable just like any other character when talking to Mathiu?
Title: Re: Suikoden patcher
Post by: Zozma on May 14, 2012, 12:00:06 am
Ok so the below codes will replace characters 5 and 6 with Ted and Odessa and are activated by going into the menu and switching the first character with the second one and then switching them back. [Note that you will NOT notice any change in characters 5 and 6 at this time] after that, turn off the codes, save your game and reset.

I find that it works best if you do this one character at a time, provided that you want both of them in your party.

(Ted slot 5)
D01B800E 0001
301B800C 006C

(Odessa slot 6)
D01B800E 0001
301B800D 006D

In my current playthrough I just completed neclord's castle and I must say both of them are extraordinary characters. Get Odessa a Rage rune and breeze through most dungeons effortlessly as she will ALWAYS make the first move. Ted is great too, one of the highest magic attackers in the game, I like to give him back his soul eater rune. If you think Cleo is a strong character to have hes like a faster version of her and always at least about 20+ above her in magic stat.

If you want only one or the other and based solely on performance, it's Odessa hands down. Her speed in combination with slightly above average stats in most everything else makes her nearly broken. (unless you have a problem with gamesharking a better rune over her fixed wind rune that is)

yeah I couldnt find anything like that either but fortunately this is always a solution to at least getting them back.
the only sad thing about the end of this game is that you're forced to have 4 specific characters in your party if i recall. leaving the customization very limited.

Did you? I didn't think so, since I always had the main char, Viktor, Flik, Crowley, Pesmerga and Gremio (sometimes)

I know you have to level Pahn early or he can die when he fights your father, but i dont remember having to use specific chars, tho i could be wrong

Yeah I know for sure that Victor and Flik are forced into your party for the last dungeon and from that point on you cant ever remove them again. actually I think It may just be those two plus your main character, leaving 3 available slots?

Teo 6E hmmm I wonder if he has a full battle sprite since you duel him and all...

I remember in suikoden 3 Gillaume could actually be added to the battle party with codes even tho he was an npc.

I had tested it out because you have to duel him once, and sure enough fully useable in battles. thats what makes me wonder about Teo

(I thought I wrote this already O.o, oh well)

If you watch the video that MasterGrand made here:

It does show him running around both Gregminster and Rockland, as well as a few battles, in all of which he is Odessa.

MasterGrand, I wanted to ask you before, did you actually replace Tir McDohl with Odessa? Or is it a Odessa sprite over the Tir McDohl sprite?

MasterGrand. I was finally able to download. Altho the notes you have ARE small enough to post here.
they are also from what I can tell, hex locations. but i dont know how to use those. When I asked if you make a editer i was hoping for something with a GUI interface.

I would like to help you make a suikoden mod but more tools would need to be made first.

I can understand that MG, problem is, I'm not a coder. I'm a eventer. I only use the tools other people build to achieve my end result. And even with doing that, I didn't have a team until I had ALOT of work to show for it.

The other problem is that this is a FFT site, so people interested in modding here (which there really aren't more then a handful)
will be wanting to mod that. :3

I wish i could offer you more since I absolutely love Suikoden, and I would love to make events for it, but, I would need a way to do so first :/

Same here, I will try to find some sites that might have people interested in hacking Suikoden. I would love to make a custom story for either of the first 2 games.

Pokeytax might have some input on tool making, as well, since I know he's been hacking through some of the other Suikoden
games.

I translated Card Stories and am doing the ASM for Suikogaiden Vol. 1 & 2, but the overlap between those and Suikoden I & II is 0%.  They don't even use the same compression format.

The most knowledgeable Suikoden II hacker I know of is Pyriel, who's fixed most of the bugs and worked out some of the scripting, IIRC: http://suikodenbugfixes.wikispaces.com/ (http://suikodenbugfixes.wikispaces.com/)

I do love Suikoden more than is healthy.  I would love to see a Suikoden III/IV demake or a fan Suikoden VI; the main thing keeping me from hacking it is the lack of gameplay depth.  FFT has a really robust engine with untapped potential that you can leverage with a bit of ASM and hex editing into something fantastic.  Suikoden II is always going to be 90% about autoattack, because the draw is the spriting/characters/storyline.  You would need multiple dedicated spriters and someone who can really write to really get anywhere.  But that said, I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if there's anything I can help out with.

Vol. 1 should be out in a couple months.  Vol. 2... December 2013?  It really depends on how burned out the translation team is.  It runs on the exact same engine, so my contribution is trivial compared to the hard work of translation/revision/checking.

Feel free to sign up for the beta test (http://suikogaidentranslation.freeforums.org/beta-test-round-2-sign-up-t303.html) if you're really raring to go.  I can affirm that the game is in good shape and you will not be playing a buggy mess.

I spearheaded a failed suikoden fangame that failed miserably before it got started. That didn't stop me and a lot of people from wasting a lot of time working on it though. It took place during the War of Succession and ended with Kalekka Incident. Most people thought it failed because it had too many people working on it. The truth is that key members of the group were bullshitting us.

While I wouldn't want to actually write anything formally. I would make a great plot and continuity consultant. I know a buttload about the Suikoden Universe and I'd be willing to help anyone aspiring to make such a game.

Omg, and to think this all started when I was looking for a way to have Odessa stay with me the entire game! :o

Hi guys, I was reading this thread, and I know it's been a couple years since we talked about it, but reading MasterGrand's posts as well as you guys made me feel REALLY excited! >.<
I uh...I wanna be able to try to fan make Suikoden >.< I'm actually a very good writer and I think that if its possible to change character names as well as rewrite the script, that would be AWESOME! If I could have some help on how to do it all, i would dearly, DEARLY appreciate it!!!
please reply back as soon as any of you can! >.< I'm really really stoked about this

Poor fella, I hate to be the one to tell you, but MasterGrand was more like MasterTroll. He used his language barrier to intentionally troll people. The only thing he ever figured out was 1 offset for 1 event, as well as throwing some gameshark codes into a GUI

omg :( man i'm sorry...I had no idea this was a TROLL! >.<

It really sucks!!!! for a game like this it would've been AMAZING if I could've revamped it with my version you know? Although, if there's a way to have Odessa that would be really nice >.<
Thank you so much for telling me this though, just goes to show that I'm gonna have to learn how to make such games like Suikoden, such a fantastic series...

Just found this topic and wanted to give a huge thank you to pokeytax for the great work on translating the Suikogaiden games which add a lot of richness to the Suikoden universe. I am a massive fan of the Suikoden games and happy that you and your team took the time to bring me these games.

Suikoden 1 & 2 are my absolute favorite games of all time, didn't care much for Suikoden 3 or 4 but 5 was pretty good and brought the series back to its roots. Suikoden 3 kind of bored me for the most part with having to experience the same storyline 3 times over despite being from different viewpoints before moving on to the next events and the major battles were a let down for me. I am going to leave a link to a freeware game called Exit Fate which was inspired and borrows heavily from Suikoden 2.

Check it out if your a Suikoden fan and check out another game on the same site called Last Scenario. They are worth the time.

Sorry to necro this thread,

but i feel the need to share some thing. i'm a huge lover of suikodens, (i did every iterations at least 10 times, 1&2 20 times)

i post this as a last try to a botched effort.

2 years ago a friend who was a begginner unity programer tried to make a basic suikoden but with an implemented multiplayer interface
(think pokémmo, but with people as viktor, camille etc etc) we shared idea and it begin to grow. (i was doing the spritework and fiding game ressources files)
create your character, choose between base classes who can evolve, play as another mcdohl bodyguard for the main story, but be able to do housing, duels, wars, minigames or coop with other players.

we worked 2 months (i still work on it a little sometimes) but my friend just let the project fall after just making a basic movement interface wich used the sprites.
i did 5 of the 6 basic classes i wanted to do, one evolved class, every class with 3/4 palette swaps, did a chart of the classes with descriptions and skill affecting gameplay ideas, found all the music, all the sound effects; all the sprites exept magic animation, minigames, maps 1:1 size of every location and world map. part of it extracted from the suikoden chinese pc win 95 version.

if someone see this, do we still not have figured anything about sprite modding suikoden? i could settle in peace on atleast modding some secondary characters into other things.

most youtube channels, rpg maker projects are just dead and suiko source is not better. i'll joint some of the work i did. mainly frankensteining vannilla sprites and doing palette work.
it's not pro work but well i still hoped to do something with it.

dont pay attention to the dazz signature, i just worked with the vanilla sprites he nicely extrated on spriter ressource site.
