Lol idk I usually get good answers when I ask. It helps to look back a page to see if someone else didn't ask 2 weeks prior to you asking.

LOL

It's going well. Not sure what else I could spoil without hurting the experience.

Lijj is working on some new Time Mage sprites to replace the weird hat bros (new version concepts by Twinees)

Nyzer is still knocking out Marks and such for Ch2 and i think may be into Ch3 marks by now.

I resigned from the position I was working, and am taking a few months off work, and in that time i plan to catch up on mod stuff. My resignation was in effect as of last friday.

@ Elric and Lijj No worries, just figured I would ask  ;) I wouldn't mind talking about the concept for the new time mage if you guys want, or if there is a drawing or whatever I'm sure most of us would enjoy seeing it. If you want to of course. Glad to hear everyone is doing good and that progress is still going good.

I like the song too, the upload quality was pretty shit, but I'm also listening on laptop speakers so it's not really helping lol. Good shit though man, I really like the "beat" (my music terms are pretty limited). I don't know about the rest of your songs though, but I don't think #pop fits your genre really well. Definitely more grungeish to me, which is definitely my kind of music. Feel free to post more and let us know how things went at your show, if ya want.

Oh and...

Suicide version? So glad you are back!   (even though I wasn't around when you went mia)

Well... It just helps if you actually look around a bit. Help yourself before asking others to help you kinda thing. You made it to the spriting section, which means at some point you were on the main section of the forum. You actually skipped past a help section in order to get to a spriting section.

So no, you do not need to know the exact tools you need in order to ask what exact tools you need, you just need to post in a relevant section. I'll be honest, I doubt anybody is going to answer this question, since it can easily be found if you look around. Try the tutorials section, there is a sticky post called "tutorial link index" and has plenty of tutorials, with step by step instructions on how to sprite. I would check out the FFT spriting video tutorial, and conman's frankensprite tutorial, they are a great place to start.

If you are really interested in learning, you have to do the research yourself and ask questions you have about the research. There is also a good chance your question has been asked and answered already, possibly 100s of times. So try looking around in the relevant sections, the help section, and use the search bar above too. It's the most useful way to find answers to questions on this site, and you don't have to wait for a reply!  ;) Good luck, everyone on here is very helpful, but they only help those who help themselves.

How has life for the team been, and how has progress on JOT5 been going lately? It's been a while, could we get another spoiler maybe?

Help! / Re: why wont fftastic open?
April 06, 2017, 05:54:35 pm
With the amount of detail provided, all I can say is something is wrong.

What operating system do you have and is there any error messages is a good place to start.

Try right clicking and see if it is marked as executable, make sure you have the access rights to run it(try running it as admin), etc. Re-download it, maybe it got corrupted.

*edit* and how about a list of what kind of troubleshooting you have tried so far.

Assuming you make sure you are using the right tool...

QuoteOKAY! We are pretty much ready to start copy/pasting!  A few notes on tools: You will find the options to copy and paste on the command bar under the "Edit" button, also on this edit bar- "undo/redo" will be very handy, On the tool bar you will see a yellow magnifying glass-you are going to need this a lot (alternatively, the view button on the command bar has magnifying options), on the tool bar you will see a dotted square (rectangular selection) which selects what we want to copy/paste, finally a little pencil we will need to either add/remove singular bits. Alternatively, you can turn transparency off for some off your copy pasting for say the top of the head/hair.

Just gotta keep at it, you'll get it.

Holy shit, he's alive. Thanks, for everything really, but I'm definitely glad to see this got an official update.

*edit* same with EasyVent, figured I'd save a post.

Help! / Re: How to Change battle formation sprite
April 01, 2017, 05:45:56 pm
Also http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=9412.msg184042#msg184042

I'm sure there is a ton more information if you do some searches. What xif is saying, is there are multiple custom ramza sprites (for each chapter), besides the main sprite. You changed the main sprite, now you would have to change the other custom chapter 1 sprites too, or remove them from the events. I'm not sure where the battle sprite is located, but if you follow the link Xif posted below it shows you the location and chapter of all the custom EVTCHR sprites.

**EDIT Here check "Importing Custom Formation Sprites and Portraits [Warning! Image Heavy Post!] by Celdia" it's in the tutorials section

Cool, thanks for the update! Sounds like you are nearing the end at least, that is very exciting to hear!

Late reply I know  RL has been real lately lol.

I could definitely see chrono trigger making a cameo, maybe shining force and suikoden. All good rpgs and I think they could be pretty easily put into the FFT world. Ryu would be a fucking awesome character, since he is an absolute badass. Frog would be pretty cool too, he is a perfect stereotypical knight, and probably my second favorite character next to magus. Magus would also be a badass character, that goes without saying  :P. Quite a few shining force characters would be an awesome addition, Oddeye would definitely be a good choice.  Obviously we know luigi is the CS, so no need to guess on that.

Definitely hyped to see what made the cut!

Help! / Re: PsxFin problem
March 15, 2017, 02:06:56 pm
First off though, if it says you need a cue file, then you need a cue file. A cue file isn't actually required for FFT, but I guess psx at least needs it to be there. For simplicity's sake, like Elric said there are programs out there to create cue files.

Otherwise, if you don't want to download anything, just make a copy of the JOT5 cue file or any FFT cue file, which I'm assuming you have since you are able to play JOT5 on psx. Put it in the same folder as the iso you are trying to play, rename the cue file to the name of that iso and make sure you keep the cue extension. Bam done.

I think on here at least, most people use the same program to make patches, but that doesn't mean the iso they made the patch for is the same. I dont think I've ever had a problem with FFT, but sometimes when patching Fire Emblem mods I have to use a specific version of an iso. Usually it won't even patch when this happens, for me at least. It's at least worth trying to use a different iso.

Journey of the Five Ch.1 / Re: Chapter 2 Progress Log

Yeah, I hope we get a few female characters too, but hopefully we get more after ch1. Our party is pretty empty atm, and it's a good possibility that we will get at least a few more characters. At the very least we get agrias as a non guest eventually ( I believe this was confirmed by the crew? ). Alma is up in the air, not really sure what will happen when Alma's story collides with the 5, but who knows we may get her as a member too. Plus we run into at least 1 other female, when we get 2 guests for a bit, I can't seem to remember what happened with them. I'm also wondering about....
Zelda

SO there is still hope  ;)

I vote we push cloud off a cliff and bring in Tifa

I have so much love for that series that I pretended to enjoy Phantasy Star Online for around 400 hours of gameplay.

Haha I know I did the same same exact thing. I'm glad to hear that somebody else around here loves the series too!

I'm not a huge fan of the RPG Maker engine, for a myriad of reasons, but I can dig this. Thanks for posting this here. I need to give it a more thorough look when I'm not so inundated.

Me neither, I was actually really impressed on the quality, since I have not seen many good quality RPG Maker games. I'm just really glad somebody finally made a fan game, since it is not a real big mod community. There were quite a few differences, but they managed to make them fit in well, to me nothing seemed out of place for the series.

The playthrough videos aren't great, and I can't understand a word of Russian, but I definitely enjoyed watching them. There are actually 4 videos that showcase the entire game, but it's like 10+ hours, so I did a lot of skipping.

I wanted to share this because I am such a big fan of phantasy star and this is the first fan sequel to the classic series that has ever been finished. Actually, Phantasy Star IV is still my favorite game even after 18 years since I first played it. I

Unfortunately the game is in Russian, until they are able to find somebody willing to translate. So if anybody is interested in translating, feel free to PM Di.H at pscave. I'll definitely update this when it does get translated

Anyways, the game was created on RPG maker (RMXP) and the creators are Lokator & Di.H Prod. They did an excellent job at preserving the integrety and feel of the classic PS series, everything about it brought back a lot of nostalgia. I'm not sure if anybody here is a fan (phan hoho), but I don't have a terribly large social network online, so I don't have many places to share =P.

Here is the original OP on pscave, I'll include some images and post the download link below this.
http://www.pscave.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3153

A friend of theirs also did playthrough videos, the rest can be found on his channel but here is part 1

Game need special fonts, that u can find in game folder (PhantasyStar4.TFF and PhantasyStar4Men.TFF)

the main vanilla habits that need to be broken are approaching the game too much as if it's vanilla instead of as its own game.

That's probably the best advice there is, for any mod really. Might as well develop some new bad habits  ;)

One thing I always appreciate with mods, the devs are fans who spent a lot of time playing the vanilla game and are usually able to come up with much more balanced mechanics.

Well for just changing to defeat all, you shouldn't need asm. Are you trying to learn more extensive hacking, or just still having issues with the battle conditions?

Journey of the Five Ch.1 / Re: Chapter 2 Progress Log
January 21, 2017, 12:46:16 pm
I don't think any ill will was intended, I think he was trying to show his support and inquiring about progress of CH2. I assume he meant to say you guys are fucking awesome, unless he walked in on some kind of JOT5 sex party...

From a fan point of view, we are all anxious to see progress and us inquiring just means we are looking forward to seeing more. Granted some people are selfish and ungrateful and just want everything now, in which case they usually get called out by everyone including the real fans who support not only the game but also the devs. Devs are just people ( and wizard goddesses?), and everybody here busts their asses to make JOT5 the best it can be, and unfortunately that takes a lot of time and effort. They have real lives, plus they need breaks and shit too, otherwise they get all burnt out and frustrated. Which hurts both motivation and quality.

I get frustrated when people ask me how something is going when I am the middle of a small project that last only several hours ( especially when they are standing there, can clearly see my progress and are disturbing my progress  ), so I can only imagine what it's like for a project of this magnitude. Which is why I try not to ask about projects. For anyone who doesn't hang out at ffhacktics, they probably have no clue whats going on though, epecially since we tend to get off topic and progress updates get buried.

I think one of these days when I have a bit more time, I might make a "progress compilation" thread, if everybody is alright with that. Or I could just gather up all the posts, if you would rather update the existing OPs or something. Might be easier for a fan to keep up with the thread than the devs spending valuable time updating threads when they post something relevant.

(Damn this post got long...TL;DR )

(PS sorry elric not a fan of fallout, not even sure why but I just never got into it. Although I never tried 3  or 4 )

Well, you should be editiing the battle conditions in the spreadsheet and then producing a xml file and applying it with fftorgasm. I'm not sure if this is the best method anymore or not, but this is the way I learned to do it from the raven tutorial. There is actually a xml tab somewhere on there and you then just copy and paste and upload via fftorgasm.

*edit* I used the spreadsheet from ravens tutorial

QuoteI can't help but have some giant and therefore time consuming plans for the final chapter.  Intend to make at least 3 sprites: A new lucavi, a monster sprite Apocalypse,  and complete my man/dragon "phantom beast".  I want to have some sort of "mini battle arena" side scenario- for things like: chrono crew vs Magus, or Thor vs Marvel baddies...

These all sound awesome  I've always been a fan of SoD, I jumped in around ch 2.5 but I've definitely enjoyed everything you have come up with so far. Can't wait to see how you wrap up the story!

If you ever need a tester or anything feel free to hit me up. My next semester is going to be a nightmare so not sure how much free time I will have until it's over, but I'm still willing to do what I can.
