Final Fantasy Hacktics

Okay, so as my first ever attempt at spriting (with NeoPaint, thanks Van), I decided to do FFIV's Hero Cecil Harvey. I was gonna try Paladin, but first, I'll attempt Dark Knight him. I based it slightly (okay mostly) off FFIV DS's version of him. I filled him completely with pretty much some basic colours (Just to create some a basic shape, added basic horns (could someone tell me how to get shading+ horns right?) and used a Dark Knight sprite (Not Gaff) simply for the fact that we never get to see Cecils face in that armour. At least.. not that I remember..

Help and comments on where to go from here? Oh, and how do I edit his portrait? It seems to be in a different type of colour...

you know what you should do, just use Gafgarions sprite and remove the fur around the top. you can fix the helmet by basing it loosely off of the dragoon helmet. his sprite seems to be based loosely off of that dark knight armor. also you could uses the colors from ramza's chp2 armor for the color... tho you might want to soften it a bit.

Kay. What would you suggest in terms of remembering the colours? After all, I wish NeoPait would assign some colour numbers or something..

Oh.Okay. I't just that NeoPaint has a mouse cam which is really helpful.

hehe, i can't really suggest anything because im oldschool, i use mspaint and snespal for all of that even tho i have gimp too which is good for rearranging color palettes easily

Honestly I'd rather see the Paladin version. We have enough Dark knights.

there are more holy knights actually, plus i don't count the psp generic dark knight since it looks like crap IMO if you make it have the right helmet and get rid of the fur, gaffy's armor looks pretty cool, it would in a steel blueish color for a dark knight too.

If you do the dueled Horn helm he wears then it would be cool

use the male lancer helm as a base then?

Much better attempt. The colours need to be a little more gradual though I think. You jumped from a dark blue to quite a light one and I think this might be the reason for the ice-looking effect that zozma is talking about. Anyway, once you've got all that sorted out, you can, carefully mind you, start to phase out those gray fur areas on the armour (since I don't think Cecil has them?). Also, did Cecil have bare hands or gauntlets? And if you wanted, you could try and bring the helm down over the eyes.

Cool. I actually thought the shoulder fur was pauldrons originally.

Here's my rough attempt at him. The helmet's a little flat.

yesss, just give more depth to the helmet and horns.

there are only 2 colors on the horns so there shoudl be slightly more of a contrast in shades of white.

and the helmet, just give a little more sheen and it looks awesome.
