Oh, they go back in fine... as long as you use a color that is already in the file. I think I had a problem when I added new colors. Just remember that the pics must flow too (animation).

Yeah, I'd have to say I like the Knight cape a bit better too.
I changed jobs and that has made all the difference.

For info sharing purposes, what softwares and OS's are everyone using?
I am using a pixel editor called "Pixel Editor" on Win XP.

http://www.kanzelsberger.com/pixel/

It's pretty good, even for a novice like me.
I thought about looking for a Macintosh program since macs do graphics very well.

Windows XP SP2 with GraphicsGale
  • Modding version: PSX
Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)
<R999> My target market is not FFT mod players
<Raijinili> remember that? it was awful

yeah, I think I'll add in some white trim or something, along with the signature white feather. If I have a color in the palette leftover, I might add in another emblem on his robe or something.

Zodiac, VincentCraven mentioned you had a near complete Blue Mage sprite he was intending on using.  Would you be so kind as to give us a lokksee? Please, please, please!

Okay, so I have started my red mage sprite and I will have a starter pic up sometime soon.  The frontside is nearly done, but I need to work on his cape a little.  I running into the same problem VincentCraven is colorwise, except is mainly just red and black.  It needs more white or gold somewhere.  Maybe my cape should be white?

Anyways, I should have a preview up before the week is up.  I could have it done but that stupid hat is going to kill me.  I might just slap a thief hat on'em, stick a feather in the hat and call it mage-aroni.  I just can't get the angle done correctly.

I get a File Not Found error when I try to see it, but if Chrona can see it, I must be doing something wrong.

It's a .rar, you need WinRar to see it. I'll do a quick ImageShack

Thanks for the new link Chrona.  I have winrar, but I think the problem was a browser error.  404 and all that crap.

I see he went for the FFV style.  It's good, but a little too royal blue for my tastes.  When I make my sprite, it is going to be a mixture of the blue mages from FFXI and FFTA, and it will be a little more along thier color scheme as well.

Here is a preview of my red mage workings:

Once I get the hat and the backside done, it should be pretty easy from there until I'm done.  For the female, I'm probably going to just palette swap a Balmfula sprite and then add a red mage hat.

Yeah at the size that Blue Mage will appear on the screen, it will look very flat. Theres too much contrast between the outfit and the bright trim and it hasn't been shaded with the same depth as the normal sprites.

I like the FFV theme though. The idea for the design is good, it just needs a tweak in execution. Its a bitch to just say that though. It probably took fucking ages.

Wow. I like that Red Mage

Ooh, you likes mai red mage?  Or were you talking about the other one?

Anyway, my red mage is now about 45% done.  I might be done by friday.  I still need to work out some details on the hat and the cape, mainly the shot from behind.  I'll post another progress report with a picture tomorrow night sometime after I get off of work.

I'd have to say that Red Mage looks like it's going to turn out better than mine. I'm not sure what you plan to do with the colors, but I'd say at least the cape has to be red. But then again, it doesn't really matter as long as we can tell he's a Red Mage and he isn't too red. Most of the more detailed Red Mages don't have Red gloves or boots. Anyway, good luck with your pics!
