don't know why, but i tried to do my version, like yours, changing to be more challenging...and i saw many completed mods but yours called my attention, i was just hopping that ramza could be a holy knight (mine i tried to do that as each chapter with new skills) but thanks for your work (and your videos explaining, so nice)

i think this is the chosen one to play!

the thing is: you added A LOT of text to entries that shouldn't have any text on them.

I deleted all of the text you introduced in those blank entries and, guess what! It patched properly.
I don't know how you managed to patch that before without any issues. (Are you certain you did?)

You can even grab vanilla text file. Add something random to each of those blank entries and it will give you that same error.
It seems the ammount of text you can introduce in that sector is very limited.

I happened to try it further. Yes i am pretty sure i patched the world.bin04 after i finished edditing (and i always count the width to be fewer than vanilla, but of course i am human, i may have made a mistake)

I did exactly that, compared vanilla as mine. Found on "World.bin04", "World.lzw", "Battle.bin" and "Card.out2" there are same/similar texts "Error/Confirmation messages" as "Shop/Save text", with almost the same lines

Making this comparison i could spot one or another additional lines (as i am usually changes the "Quick edit" section"), on the blank spots, i think usually "Kanji input" and "input name" and some others...and it patched!!

When i came to post, you had post =D! But thanks for reading and helping!
Now double/triple check before edditing anything and avoid quick edit at all
Also comparing to vanilla before/after

I am sorry but i still have a doubt on these, maybe my english is poor, i am sorry in advance for that. I believe they are similar

1) The 2nd Skillset with Monsters Skills for Blue Mage Enemies from ENTD: The game comes with all monsters skills as (Jp Cost = 0, Learn With Jp Player flag, Chance to learn 100%, Learn on hit unflagged), assuming what i read, i should just leave like this for this 2nd Skillset i assign, right?

I opened my currently tactext patch on 0.457, tried to patch my ISO and still the same issue happened, do you have an idea what should i do?

Hi good afternoon all!

I had already some errors in the past, on other Tactext issue, i followed instructions correctly and it was solved in the past, as "Same version of tactext", "Saving on a patch", "Never changing already on the iso", "Erasing some japanese text" and others...but this persists

Background
World.bin 04 has "Shop/Save Text" it follows on "Quick Edit" the "Confirmation messages", which i translated almost a week ago, tested, patched ok good to go

Now i am edditing on "WORLD.LZW" the "17 Tutorial Menu" + "25 Tutorial menu" it follows "Quick Edit" the "Tutorial Menu"

Could someone take a liiitle look what might going on? (i did not editted any other events, only uses tactext, shishi battle sprites and patcher

Yes, "Learn on hit".  I have set the JP to 0 and disabled "Learn with JP".  It's been quite a while, but if memory serves, this did the trick.

Hi everybody! I am a bit new and don't want to mess up too much, just minor changes for fun, no advanced hacks!
This section is awesome, unfortunatelly i am almost giving up the blue mage, can i ask my question here?

I don't know much about hacks/spreadsheets but what i wanted on my Blue Mage:
:v/: Ok the weird things the characters does as performing the skills
:v/: Ok Weak human + weak skills, will put some gear to enhance only the blue mage maybe, still thinking
:v/: Ok MP usage, if monsters have MP they will perform and won't spend their MP that's OK
:v/: OK to rebalance all monsters MP, but MA/PA is gonna get confused for a newbie like me
:v/: Created no magic/skills, only using monsters skills available (including ulmaguest, nano/giga flare)

This is what i tested:

[Blue mage 1]
JP = each Monster skill has a amount of points needed (Ex: Choco Cure = 200, Self Destruct = 500)
LEARN ON HIT = NO
LEARN WITH JP = YES
Result: monsters were never using their skills, it seemed like they "couldn't buy the skill"

[Blue mage 2]
JP = 0
LEARN ON HIT = NO
LEARN WITH JP = YES
Result: all characters that changed job to Blue mage, had almost all skills learned, since lvl 1

[Blue Mage 3]
JP = 0
LEARN ON HIT = YES
LEARN WITH JP = NO
Result: too long to have a result, i put many skills but the monsters takes to long to show up

So...do you guys have any ideas to help?
Also, if i may, on [BM 3] how would an enemy Blue Mage come? It would have the skills assigned?

Briefing of my patch:
I'm just doing a Simple translation and modification using: Shishi/Tactext/Patcher/FFTEVGRP (i think):v/:
I am too afraid of editting events so i might not do, unless i need for follow question  :?

Uploaded: my tactext file (no problem going public at all) and an image to simplify my question

Question: how can i change those names of the cities/locations inside the yellow rectangle and red rectangle?
I changed everything i could on tactext, checking option by option there, and testing but those "events" after i set my team and shows the name of the place, and on the main world they didn't changed at all

Hi, i used those 3 programs plus gimp to edit most of all sprites in my project, i exported the files with cd mage,
editted "unit" and "walace" with graphic gale and imported again to the iso, and the others with shishi...Ok

1) My iso got really big, is there way to patch the "Shishi Sprite editor" files?
2) And the Graphic gale's, is there way?
To sum up i wanted all patches so nobody should download my iso

FFTactext and FFTPatcher got patches Ok, i need to upload to have people testing, my folder got 1.04gb...

3) Will everybody have to download my iso, if there are no way of patching? All those files are needed for anyone
wanting to test (or play the final project) my iso with shishi, gale, files (and FFTorgasm also)? (one of them is the same size of the iso)

4) What is the best (or easier xD) program to edit in-game conversations (The history, the text i know it's the FFtactext xD)? It generates a patch?

sorry for this, but i read, but as i said i'm horrible in it, and didn't used a lot the forum...so i'm not familiarized with it...and yes i read the very first topic, and again i'm horrible with that, that's why my questions...ok i posted in the wrong section but i read yours, but for a huge noob maybe small things to everybody are a bit complicated to some others

Hi...i'm sorry for ultra-mega-highly noob question...i'm edditing with the programs in the download section (Shishi, FFTEVRG, FFt text, torgasm) of the site...but my brain melts when a command line appears...this program seems to be huge awesome, but i just want to edit the texts (and i know it does) but....i really don't know why

I know many here are advanced players and programmers but...could u please teach me how to edit the texts?

I downloaded v1.9, started, openned "EVT_002_002 Orbonne Prayer" in the "Final Fantasy Tactics Event Directory", erased the Text(0x....), changed a single word "God...please forgive" to "Bla...please forgive" to test it, then i saved the event in the "Custom Event Directory"...and compiled "Just the Event" then "Event Compiled successfully to Offset x00002000!"...then i closed, openned CDmage, my iso raw image, imported the TEST.evt that is in the "EasyVent Editor" folder, import ok, save .cue ok, closed, started emulator, iso, new game = nothing, "God...please..."

What is wrong?Am i saving the wrong folder?Using the event of the wrong folder?Compiling the event is not enough?The TEST.evt that comes with the EasyVent is not to be imported to the iso? Eorry again but i'm really noob in this stuff and don't want to create events, just want to edit a bit the texts  :oops:

I'm working for a long period in my iso, and i'm certainly not an expert...i changed everything i could in shishi prite editor, tactext, torgasm, fftevgrp, and it's ok until i found Event Decompiler and Compiler, i'm stuck, i'm horrible in command lines and so on...

i was looking this topic: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=4067.msg117552#msg117552 but it's locked since 2010, so it said to post a new one.

My intention is: Only change the texts a bit, only that, not creating new events, new this, new that, only change the texts.
I got PSX Events.txt, event.txt, TEST.evt (those i used CDmage, but my iso only opens in the option RAW MATERIAL, is it correct?)

Questions: 1) Do i have to copy everything in the PSX events.txt to event.txt?
               2) The topic says to erase the line "Text(x000008F9)" in the beggining of the event, do i have to erase all of them of all events?
               3) This line is of the first event "//| Event Script x002 | Event Offset: x004000 | Text offset: x0048F9 |", in the example the text offset of him is different of mine, and i didn't changed nothing yet, what is that suppose to mean? (the topic is: Text offset: x0041C5)
               4) When i run the Compiler (without changing anything, only paste the psx events.txt into the event.txt) it gives me an error after compiling: http://imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img842/1300/errorhs.jpg, i import ATTACK.out and test.evt back in the iso, nothing happens, changing or not the texts inside the event.txt
               5) Do i need the ATTACK.OUT and attack out editor if i just want to change a bit the texts?
