Spriting / Re: Teta's sprite glitches in water

yeah, this was the first sprite I ever completed so that is definately not right. this looks more like the original incomplete one because i clearly see old frames that dont exist in the full version

Just to inform you, on the custom sprite section the "Sain" sprite has my name on it in the credits, it was 100% made by Smash not me.

i think the main thing on the hair is not the color  choice, but its very pillowshaded. I am notorious for this but you want to make it look like the light is coming from a certain angle

the eyes also, if you are not using brown shades for the eyes, then take a look at cloud's original portrait, that makes blending other colors like blue a little better

And those Altimas seem pretty erotic, Zozma. Many of these I saw on Danbooru.

haha i think in many cases thats hard to avoid given her outfit alone. but i enjoyed seeing the well made fan arts of her and also celia and lede, which i was suprised had as many as i found

Help! / Re: Quick list of changeable sprites?
October 12, 2011, 04:42:13 pm
well there is something else u can do to free up more unit.bin sprites

make all of your guests NEVER appear in the menu, only in the event battles themselves...
example: with Algus, whos almost just a plain old squire anyway, you could then use this for a special RAD job and have a menu sprite for it that isn't algus

this of course is if you have no intention of a character like such joining.

Help! / Re: Condensing Alma

version 13 uses a different EVGRP sprite than version 2F

version 13 is the one used in the final battle, but in the menu it looks like a young male bishop
version 2F is the one you see in any other event and version 2B is specifically for her auto/perma dead job and shouldnt be messed with due to it using special animations.

your best bet is to use version 13 for whatever else you're planning and then changing the character id of her in the last battle to match her 2F version so there arent any event screw ups.

the only real pain is the npc placement/display and changing dialog because they use those 2 letter combos instead of a normal set of text

Help! / Re: Free Spaces?

the information you need for assigning a unit.bin sprite to a job that normally doesn't show up properly is here, start around page 3 or 4 of this topic

http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=1495.100

I know exactly what you are referring to so if you have any questions let me know...

In this example you can see Celia having the dancer sprite in the menu INSTEAD of looking like a garbled mess as it would be by default.
unfortunately she is using ramza's color palette as well, I am not certain where the assigned palettes are, but if you are using a unique sprite slot to assign to your secondary celia/lede slots, for example, the unused priest. then it has its own palette anyway.
(note that you can see i also assigned the dancer sprite to Lede, right next to her, which is using ramza's second palette, again i dont know how to change that)

In the second picture you will see that i did this to ramza as a test as well, indicating that you can do this with any character slot :)
(you can also see that exact same copy of Celia and Lede who look like ramza in the menu before hex editing, this is probably why the palettes are that of ramza as well even when you change the assigned sprite)

I haven't messed with this in a while but i do have knowlege of what to do, its really not that difficult as long as your messing with uniques

Again, i highly recommend you do not use generic jobs to assign to special characters here, but there are free slots that CAN be edited with EVGRP and then assigned wherever you want:
3 Unused priest sprites (similar to simon)
pigtailed girl with blue skirt

thats already 4 right there...
In addition to that there is Simon, Balmafula and Olan who are never used by default, these can be edited in EVGRP and reassigned elsewhere

Another side note between these two screenshots, youll see one of the two versions of dark knight in my menu, and then youll see that in the next screenshot instead it looks like Rad. BOTH versions of dark knight are assigned to the exact same unit.bin sprite, and so i assigned one of them to the unused priest unit.bin sprite and then used EVGRP to change it to look like rad. now both dark knight jobs have their own seperate unit.bin sprite :)

I'm pretty sure you'd have to use those slots for characters that don't join you, but I'm not 100% sure on how it works.

you're wrong. you can reassign a unit.bin sprite to ANY sprite, for example, i assigned the Dancer unit.bin sprite to celia and lede's :)

Help! / Re: Quick list of changeable sprites?

ok so... there is PLENTY of space to add in new sprites, what your biggest challenge will be (IF) they are all supposed to be recruitable in addition to all the characters that are normally available will be the menu sprites/portraits...

now then, about that. there are a few unused menu sprites inlcuding Olan, Simon, and Balmafula who are never used:

Pigtailed girl in blue and gold skirt (Teta is linked to this)
unused priest (Dead Malak is linked to this)
young male priest (the final version of Alma is linked to this)

this is 6 right here but you said one special, and the rest generis, so you really don't need all of this info for generics or are you saying in all your adding 7 new sprites?
