I like the topknot and getting the dancer studs on the shrine knight. Start using full sprite sheets and these could potentially be submittable with a bit of work.
I really like the Eledia sprite, Would be neat to see it in motion, and the different colors.

Bueno estoy utilizando el traductor de google. Más o menos fijar la BMP a la entrada del foro, que debería decir agregar datos adjuntos en el que hacen su entrada. First off, nice sprites, but the portrait for Sensou needs work; take the eyes from the female Calculator, right now they don't look like eyes or anything else. Consider lightening her hair on the sprite too. As for Eledia, it's a good looking sprite. Check that the head is connecting properly though, cause on a couple angles it looks a little off. And customize her portrait some more, I'm sure you can pull it off.

Glad you changed the portrait's hair colour to brown. Theres a little bit of black on the right side of the portraits face that wasnt there when the portrait had blonde hair, you should probably change it back. The skin colour changes quite frequently, eg. the ear colour is a bit darker than the face colours.
Like Cheetah suggested, try expanding what you have at the moment into a whole spritesheet.

this is a extra custom from a samurai leader, and already know some of them wearing masks, this is symbolic of the mouth of a lion, I try to "improve" the eyes
The portrait is looking decent. Unfortunately it is a very minor change to notice in the very busy samurai sprite.
Indeed, Samurai is one of the most busy sprites, like Cheetah mentioned. As to your current avatar(I dunno if it was already suggested, I didn't read every post), eyes are way off, try something different(just copy/paste some FFT eyes you see fit)And the left bang(our right) is flat, it is just lines of pixels slowly growing darker, not the thing you wish to do.

Portrait ~ Quite some fixes required but the main is the eyes. I did a rough fix on the eyes. It's not perfect or great but the idea that's important here. Use existing portraits as reference. Do not create your own unless you've reached a certain level of skill.
I can see same thing on eyes on the sprite. NEVER try and do your own eyes on FFT sprites, it won't work, no mater what you will do. Let me do a quick fix to show you what I mean.
Ok, I got it done. I am sure you get the idea. Also, few thoughts I had. You changed chest, made a new hair, cool, but the body is still Shrine Knight. I doubt recommending completely new arms is wise, so I think you could make a belt more like Dycedarg has, not the regular Shrine Knight belt you are using now. Though if you feel like messing with arms, change them to something else, it will make the sprite look more original
Nice touchups Jimmy and Kage. Is this sprite supposed to be a female btw?
I am betting it is male. His hair looks much like Disgaea's Ronin.

I like it A LOT, for some reason, hehe. Though you should use the eyes I made, or at least make his left eye visible(on forward side-view). Good job on this.
I'm really liking this new design. My only suggestion is that the lines are looking too straight on the forward diagonal and rear. You might have to have them flow one pixel and then back again to give a more realistic look of following the contour of the body.

Could you put the same design on the sprite's back on the front aswell (just for curiosity sake)? I think that has the possibility to look very nice.

I still like the general design of this character. My only main concern for the sprite is the the eyes are hard to see because of the bangs. If you added some sway to those during walking animations so that you could see them fully on some frames it would likely work out. For a reference see http://ffhacktics.com/spr.php?id=BARU
I'm liking the portrait, but there are a few things that I'm concerned about. I'm just not sure what they are yet.
the eyes are almost hard to see because it is Asian so are small as to suit the image the neck of her dress is open and you will see a chemise
I really like updated portrait, ShiShi, as to the eyes on portrait, it really doesn't matter how small they are, you have to see the eye to not make it seem weird. I redid that small part on last page on the old version of your sprite, here:

As to the sprite, everything is looking great, with the exception of eyes, use the one I did as a reference. The current one will look very bad in-game compared to other sprites.
I feel like the eyes are hiding just a bit too much in the portrait, but I think it gives the character a bit of personality. It doesn't look bad, but I feel like I'm not seeing enough.
I like the work, Shishi.
edit: DId not see page 2 and 3 >_> Point still stands that the sprites are looking awesome.

Hm, te portrait on left is more original, but the hair shading isn't looking much like FFT style, and colors are very dark. Balmafula recolor works really good though, I suggest you work with that.

Being male or female doesn't affect this much in this case. Right band on female is oversized, shorten it by two or so line of pixels, and it will be set.

I dunno, I kinda like the white outfit, it sertainly could be used for last palette, but maybe not with blonde.
Here is a basic rundown how generic palettes look:
1st. usually blue, this is the palette the player uses, sometimes it is different, like on your sprite
2nd. Light blue, a palette for Hokuten, I think this is always light blue, for every generic sprite here
3rd. Black/gold, Nanten palette
4th. Green, Death Corps
5th. Pinkish, white or red, used by Church and Lionel
That;s the basic pattern generic sprites are using. To avoid some big changes, I usually change the primary color (for example, I have a sprite that has a lot of red color for the outfit, so instead of changing hair, skin etc, I just change outfit color). Of course you don't have to follow this pattern, it's just here to help you if you ever get out of ideas.
i thought third/nanten/southern sky were mostly red, and then 5ths/church was purple?
Not always. Mostly Nanten palette is black or gold, look at Lancer, or at male wizard for best examples. Purple is sometime included in 5th too, but not soo often IIRC.
Teal/blue and green for Hokuten. Black, gold, red for Nanten. Brown and green for Death Corps. Pinkish red, purple, and white for the other. It's hard to say what the primary always is, cause a lot of it depends on the sprite. Some of them can handle three colors, others can only handle one or two. It depends. Always take a look at the original sprites' palettes when you're making your own.

I meant the left arm in the first 3 poses is armored and the other 2 frames the right arm has that armor.

It does mirror, but here it mirrors wrongly. Easiest solution would be looking at Dart sprite from main page, Shishi, he has one armored arm and one naked, you can use that as a reference. And I can do the palettes for you, just send me a finished sprite and portrait.

make sure the portrait is 16 colors only next time.... also you need to make the main sprite 256x488
I uploaded a fixed version for you here that is 16 colors now :) So just insert it using the steps below in a 256x488 sprite sheet.
1.Do not share colors between your portrait and the sprite sheet.
2.The sprite sheet (before the portrait) needs to be 16 colors all in the first palette/color row.
3.The first color in that row should always be black.
4.The 16 colors for the portrait start on row 9.
5. Always start with the color R168, G160, B136. Those colors are what surround the portrait and make it look brown.
Great! If you will upload a normal sized sheet(256x488), like Mando mentioned, I could do the generic palettes for you.

Okay, I will try to do them today. And those spears look neat, I wonder how it would present in-game.
Only the sprite is paletted for now, cause I am kinda busy, I will get to the portrait soon. Overall I had to keep the main colors quite dark, since you use the darkest color for eyes etc., and changing it to a brighter tone ruins everything. Also, I fixed the eyes for you(again) on the forward side-view, do that for all the rest of the frames(me and Cheetah are nagging you about this since the beginning, hehe)"
A couple of errors i can see, the charging frames shoulders are darker than the normal skin tone (next to the dead water frames) and your back singing frames look a bit weird. At the moment, the head is higher than normal then moves down a pixel, whereas it should be normal height then move up one pixel (like you have done for the forward singing frames).

It seems I am the only one who thinks earlier portrait is way better. The new one has weird angle, not seen very often(if seen at all) in FFT, and the hair looks weird, both bangs have highlights. Personally, first version is better for me.
I agree with Kage, the shading on the first portrait is better. The second portrait has an odd angle, which is making the chin look too triangular. The ear could also be moved down a fex pixels and perhaps by removing the earring it would make him appear less feminine. His left bang has too many highlights and it seems like it is receiving light from a different angle. The top of the head is oddly shaded.

I kinda like the new bangs. My advice is to make mouth linear, it will make it look great.
Edit: I just fixed it for you, since it was a small change. I also worked on the chin line, since it was pillow shaded. Zoom in to see changes.

Just noticed something miniscule as i was looking through the edits to the portrait. Due to the head horizontal flip, the light is coming from the same side of which the face would normally be directed towards. This means that the portrait should be reshaded due to the change of light.
In spite of that, the bangs are a lot better. Keep up the good work.

Could you post a bigger size for the sprite? Posting 1x and 3x sizes is how you should always post it, easier to crit that way. As to the portrait being invisible in game, give some more detail, there can be few ways why it is like this.

Closed eyes came out great, IMO. You might to add some lighter skin shade above her right eye though(it's just one pixel, but it will make a difference). I like this character. Is she hahing knifes attached to her belt?

Hmm? Is it some kind of make-up? Small overdetailing usually make sprite look messy, I would advice concentrating on portrait to show off the make-up, rather than sprite. I will open this sprite in Gale and take a closer look.

You first paste the palette of the portrait on the sprite's palette window, and then paste the portrait on the sheet. There is a great tutorial about it, let me get it.

Edit: First you need to drop the portrait to 16 colors. Before that nothing can be done. What program you use for spriting? Paint, Graphics Gale, Photoshop?

GG is best for messing with palettes. Basiclly, you know how a palette window looks like, right? It has 16 rows, each row can contain 16 colors. Simply put, First 8 rows are for sprite and its palettes, then starting on a 9th row begins portrait palettes. Basicly you paste portrait palette on 6th row, and then paste the portrait itself on the spritesheet. This is why sprite and portrait HAVE to be 16 colors, otherwise it won't display properly.
And other thing, when will you fix the eyes on sprite? Current ones look bad and don't fit into FFT.

Significantly better portrait. The eyes look a little small, and there is one strand of hair in the front that is going straight up. Otherwise a huge improvement and looking quite good.

If that is what you were going for than it is working pretty well. They eyes still look a bit off, but I couldn't tell you exactly what it is.

I like the Asian eyes a lot, so these aren't an issue for me really. Brown version is working as well. Just remember to fix the eyes on sprite.

In the fourth pallete of the sprite the background is white instead of black (RGB 000). And in the second pallete of the portrait is all messed.

Few things though, overall the portrait is quite dark, black hair, black clothes etc., since on sprite her clothes are white, why don't you change clothes on portrait to white as well? other things are the eyes, they don't look bad, but don't look good either. My advice is to use Balmafula's eyes and base it off that, follow the FFT style more. And make the mouth more visible, the pixels used for it are very light and make mouth almost not visible on normal view. The last thing is more of a question than a crit, you see on sprite her hair seems kinda short, but on portrait it is medium long, you may want to shorten it here and there. Other than these, it's a really nice piece of art!

should focus more on the sprite is black neck and the edges of the kimono are red
Interesting piece of portrait. For the hair, you need to shorten her right side to match with her sprite.
EDIT - Or you could swap with her left.
Ah, true, her neck is black on the sprite. Well that solves the problem I guess. Looking forward for updates.
I'm loving this portrait, and agreed with Kage's crits. The hair for the sprite is too messy at this point I feel.

Argh, Shishi, you need to make the eyes visible on the sprite, if you don't do this then it will look weird in-game, most experiment with eyes tend to end that way. Other than this though, great job.

First submit sprites, then it will be on main site, hehe. As to ISO problem, your ISO might be broken, I usually couldn't open ISO once I patched it, but when it was clean it should be all ok.

I think on the legs it is a bit off. the armor extends too far out so it makes it seem like part of her thigh is missing.

As for female Asura, she seems short, but it might just be her big, muscular legs doing it. You need to make them closer like mentioned earlier. And head on diagonal back frame should be moved to our right by one pixel.

Yeah, when you compare you can especially see how much bigger the Male is, more muscular too. Legs are really big, and female's body is rather small(as it should be, she is a female after all, heh). Post a small size of female, and I will try some stuff with her.
Now I see other sprites the Female monk has exactly the same size body and legs

I think you guys are being a little obsessive. These sprites are turning out really nice. Let him finish in peace. I think if he made the back 3/4 view any wider it would look weird.

the other day I was thinking about what it would look Belias FFXII version in tactics, I ended up doing to see the result and here is ! :twisted:

Please refrain from making extra threads to promote your work, its just plain annoying, it doesn't help with advertising your things at all and I have to clean it up its why this section of the forum is messy.
You've done some good colour choices for the skin and horns/feet/hands, I'm still undecided on the saturation of the red. Its just hard to make out what his face is supposed to represent, which is most probably due to his design in Revenant wings, try and simplify it or something. The only other thing I can suggest is making the cloth between his legs to look more like fur.
Another thing, its hard to see the sprite in 100% because it is blurry? I'm not sure what happened there.
