Glitchy Sprite problem

Using FFT Patcher I edited rad, lavian and Alicia in the 3 Orbonne events, inside of orbonne, the first battle and the beginning of chapter 2 when you can recruit them. Lavian and Alicia's sprites work fine without a hitch. Rad I have been having issues with though. I first changed his job to Rudvich's job and changed Rudvich's sprite with Shishi to the male warlock. In the inside Orbonne part it works fine but for the battle its just a big mess of glitch. I figured it might be Rudvich's sprite that was causing the issue, so I basically did the same thing but pasted over Barinten's BMP instead. I also have tried a different custom sprite thinking that might be the issue but that didn't fix it either. Anyone know what the problem is? Everything else works exactly how I wanted it to, just the sprite for rad I'm having problems with.

FFT can't display more than 9 unique sprites at once or you get glitch blocks; Orbonne is already pretty close to 9, IIRC, so you've probably added too many. Changing Fukes into an archer with Item would give you another slot and might fix Glitchrad.

well unique there is ramza, lavian, rad, alicia, agrias, gafgarion so that is only 6 I think but I will try maybe just keeping his normal sprite and see if that helps

If you're talking about the battle, you've also got the enemies: Lezales (male knight), the archers, and Fukes (male chemist), for 3 more.

Lavian and Alicia aren't distinct sprites by default (both female knight), so it seems like there should be 5 for your team and 3 for the enemy team, but I'm pretty sure there's another sprite loaded somehow, because I've run into the 9 sprite limit before when changing Lavian and Alicia to use separate sprites.

Not to mention... when you get glitch blocks, it's generally because you've hit the sprite limit. I don't think I've ever seen that before for any other reason.

the two you're forgetting are Delita and Ovelia who pop out of the back of the church when the battle finishes, so they have to already be loaded.

it suddenly makes sense that I can't think of any story battles with more than 3 special enemies.
