Help! / Glitchy Sprite problem
May 31, 2012, 11:31:58 pm
Using FFT Patcher I edited rad, lavian and Alicia in the 3 Orbonne events, inside of orbonne, the first battle and the beginning of chapter 2 when you can recruit them. Lavian and Alicia's sprites work fine without a hitch. Rad I have been having issues with though. I first changed his job to Rudvich's job and changed Rudvich's sprite with Shishi to the male warlock. In the inside Orbonne part it works fine but for the battle its just a big mess of glitch. I figured it might be Rudvich's sprite that was causing the issue, so I basically did the same thing but pasted over Barinten's BMP instead. I also have tried a different custom sprite thinking that might be the issue but that didn't fix it either. Anyone know what the problem is? Everything else works exactly how I wanted it to, just the sprite for rad I'm having problems with.

I would like to request a sprite for Golbez from Final Fantasy IV. I think if you tweak the Dark Knight Cecil sprite slightly and add a cape should be golden. Also Kefka from Final Fantasy VI? Thanks

Event Editing / Re: Event Editing 101 WIP

Thank you for the quick reply Elric. I downloaded the correct version of cdmage and that fixed that problem, and ended up running into another problem. I followed the first tutorial to the part where you actually patch the vanilla final fantasy tactics file with the modded ENTD, but when I tried patching it, a box popped up which said: An error of type System.IO.IOException occurred: IO error occurred. Is this a common problem people have had with an easy solution or did I do something wrong? Thanks again for all your help, real eager to get started on modding the best PSX game of all time!

Awesome tutorial, I am really new to this and it is very helpful so far. I'm still stuck in part one though, for some reason when I open up my .bin file in Shishi it doesn't have me restructure, not sure if it is because I had already opened it in Shishi Prior to this. When I open up the file in CDMAGE, it gives me error message: Data Track has errors in the file system, content of data track may be displayed incorrectly. It doesn't ask to continue Parsing. It then opens up the bin under session 1, then track 1 then it has battle and Dummy folders, but not all the other ones I need like Event, etc. I don't know if this is an issue I can fix somehow or if I need to make a new image file of the game or what. I have been able to successfully patch things before, such as sprite changes, text, etc. I downloaded the versions of things you have posted with the tutorial, so not sure if it might be something to do with those rather than the ones I had used before. Anyways, any advice I can get on these issues would be very welcome, thanks.

Wow, these tools look awesome, I'd love to try them out except for the federal crackdown on MegaUpload, unfortunately I can no longer download these through their mirrors. Is there somewhere else you can post them to for us to download? Thanks!

Nevermind, I figured out the problem, really noobish. I didn't have it set as a monster.

Help! / Help with Shishi Sprite Manager
May 17, 2012, 10:53:30 pm
So I downloaded the .bmp of the wolfman sprite from the archive. Everything worked like I wanted it to except for the animation itself is very glitchy. In the editor the yellow boxes don't fit around the whole image of each tile correctly. I'm wondering how do I fix that?

Help! / Re: Spriting Help

Okay, so used the newer software and it worked fantastic, I am very impressed. Changed the name of the class on almost every screen, changed the Larg sprite to the wolfman sprite I found. Only thing I'm wondering now is there a way to fix the sprite so it works correctly in battle? It seems rather glitchy, instead of moving its legs like the other people it seems to switch its bottom and top around almost looks like it is swirling around rather than marching in place. I saw a video on youtube of the same sprite and it worked correctly so any advice on how to correct that would be great. Thanks again.

Ahh yes, I must have been using an older version of it or something, as it didn't access my .img file directly. Thanks so much for the help and the welcome!

Help! / Spriting Help
May 16, 2012, 06:22:38 pm
Hi, I just registered to this site, am very new to this. I was trying to change a battle sprite, from the ARU.spr to the Wolfman sprite featured in the sprite section on this site. In the tutorial "How to replace in-battle sprites" by Lydyn I basically got up to the second to last step, import the saved .spr into the battle folder. I am not quite sure how to do that part though, I tried just dragging and dropping the new file into the .img file's battle folder, which did not work. I tried manually inserting the saved .spr file into the battle folder through windows, and it said not enough space on the disc. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong for this step? Also, on a secondary note, is it possible to hack in entirely new commands? Once I know what I am doing with this I want to attempt to make some kind of shapeshifter character that can shapeshift into a certain monster in battle, and use that monster's attacks, but I am not sure if that is even possible or too complicated to even attempt. Thank you very much for your help, this site is awesome. I am using psx version of the game through epsxe.
