Ah? Glad to see you were able to get that up, yes aside from some major skill overhaul and the like from that demo... the scene is still the same, you have Cheetah to thank for the newer and improved version.

Sir LD, I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if someone suggested this before:
Can you lower the exp, JP gain and levels for all the units in the game? This way, it'll be harder
to achieve max level.

Hmm..?

Well I never did explain this did I...?

In Mercenaries you start at Level 10 (to show previous experience from the normal game's chapter 1), I will cut Exp gain, not so sure about JP Gain...

You can only get to Level 20 in the First Chapter Patch.

30 in the Second Chapter Patch

40 in the Third

and finally 50 in the Final Chapter (as a sort of reference to FFTA and because it's only 15 levels past the point of balance, if I recall right?)

oooh, balance is such a relative thing.

35 is a good balance point because that's the speed plateau for all the 100 SPM classes due to their default speed growths.  The same scenario is present at 18 and 52, for example, though a little varied.  But this also means levels 34/17/51 are where the biggest relative differences are (ie, most imbalanced), while 36/19/53 isn't that much different than the original points.  Think a tangent wave.

And then on top of this, as the overall speed increases, the potency/imbalance of charge time damage is inversely affected.  That is, a level 1 they're badass but at 99 they're a liability.

Starting at level 10 and capping at level 50 does wonders for that second note, especially when coupled with lower exp gains.  Good call :)

Meanwhile, by simply altering the speed growth/multipliers (while also limiting +sp gear, I suppose), both of these functions calm down quite a bit as well.

Something radical I'd like seen done is the duplication/modification of the Jump charge-time formula onto a lot of normal charge-time abilities so they remain as a ratio instead of an absolute, but that probably requires a metric asston of hacking.
Just another rebel plotting rebellion.

That is definitely an interesting suggestion... Zodiac said once about making a hack that scaled CT to level, I don't think he ever finished it though... if he had that would have definitely made it into Mercenaries.

The activity on the development for Mercenaries isn't isolated to one thread.  Try taking a look at the other threads, some of which get many posts a day.

Yes, that would be advisable. ^

But also yeah, he has a point.
For a newbie, he can't understand what's happening.

For reorganization, I guess LD should update the first post once in a while. :)

Haha... well there's the rest of this large Forum devoted to the Production of Mercenaries, currently on our plate is spriting and artistry, as well as a few gameplay ideas from time to time, but most of those have been ironed out. If you have any specific questions, I'll give you the answers you need, feel free to post them here.

That is in this topic, very... bad, if I do say so myself... it's a bit imbalanced, but Don't Use Wish if you plan on actually playing it.

Class balancing? Yeah. We need comments.
If you wanna help, read the jobs and try to judge
if they are balanced or not, or suggest something
that'll help this project.

Hmm. Guess i will.
But i don't have the Patch yet to look into it.
And the demo is too outdated.
Guess i will need to ask LD for that..
