I made a simple patch where his entire squire commands were replaced by Swordskills. Also I made it so Olan WILL Join ure cause after u rescue him in Chapter 3. Ramza's Support skills were heavily altered to make him a class even above Orlandu. Non-Charge and Teleport II was added to his skills however need 9999 JP each to master. Also the Swordskills were given MP Costs and the Ruin Sword Skills had their CT taken away. I may increase the mp costs of the Swordskills though to not make Chapter 1 & 2 so easy but this was a fun patch I threw together. Also I haven't figured out how to change his Job Class or Command Skillset name yet but u'll get the idea from the information below.

Edit: How does this look now for skills. He remains Squire until Chapter 4 then gets new skills. Cause by Chapter 4 I have Ramza and Orlandu doing most of the work anyhow. Won't modify the patch till I know this is good enough.

When I always played FFT when I was younger I always wanted Ramza to be able to learn the sword skills.

I even went on a rumour I heard about mastering every job would get you Heavenly Knight as an unlockable class. To no Avail... (And thats without the JP learn all abilities trick).

It's cool, not really neccesary for the game, this basically gives you a completely ultimate class right off the bat. Giving you access to Sword Tech's -and- Blade Grasp in the same class is pretty overpowered.

Well I could remove either Blade Grasp or Gained JP UP or perhaps both to make it more balance and more slow going. What I thought of doing actually is giving him like Statis Sword or Night Sword only in Chapter 1 and then teaching him Holy Sword Techs and Dark Sword Techs in Chapter 2. Then in Chapter 4 he would get the Destroy Sword techs and the Divine Sword techs.

The problem is giving a Holy Sword ability in Chapter One will make it a complete joke, and having various Holy Sword abilities throughout the other chapters also very easy.

If you want to do Chapter Progression, I would suggest giving the Ruin abilities first, as they are not completely overpowered.

Then in Chapter 2 giving some (not all) Holy Sword abilities, such as Stasis Sword, then Progressing to Night Sword, and the various Mighty Sword abilities, in Chapters 3 and 4.

However, if what you want to do is make Ramza completely awesome, you will succeed. Chapter progression would be probably for the best, as that is how Ramza's SuperSquire job works currently.

Could give him Destroy Sword skills in Ch. 1 and then Dark Sword skills in Chapter 2. Can't give him nothing in Chapter 3 cause his sprite or job command doesn't evolve until ch. 4.

ruin abilities in chapter 1 make sence because zalbag could have shown them to him, dark knight and possably some lower level holy sword abilities in chapter two make sence because he saw both gaff and agrias use them, in chapter 4 agrias would have bean in the party so much she could have taught the rest of the holy sword abilities to him, but I'm not sure how he would learn mighty sword abilities in chapter 4.

Meliadoul and Orlando join your party in Chapter 4.

Edit: Looking back I realize you know this, and you must mean by the beginning of Chapter 4.

He could "witness" it from watching Meliadoul use it in battle, but that is about the 2nd or 3rd battle of that chapter.

You could attempt to make it a "hit to learn" skill, in which you would have had to be hit by the ability to learn it.

Might work well.

I like those ideas. What about Blade Grasp and Gained JP UP should I keep those or remove them for something else. Also what kinda MP Costs should I do for the Sword skills? I like the idea of trying to learn the divine skills from a hit but I don't think Meliadoul has all 4 Divine Skills when u meet her in battle.

10 to 20 maybe as high 40, it's hard to find a balance that fits the entire game, also you might consider shock! because it can be a high power attack and it requires a sword, but on how he is suddunly able to learn it is also a mistery. Blade grasp in chapter two is fine, just put a high price on it say 1200(sorry if my spelling is off, I just got out of bed)

it'd all be really easy to explain if you could alter events completely then you could have Ramza go to his dad's grave and have some event happen which causes him to gain the swordskills

In my opinion, 20 MP for ruin sword skills is too high, it's basically a ranged power/mind/speed breaks, so it shouldn't be too high, and you need to remember that at that level your MP is quite limited, I would say 5-10.
Nightsword probably needs a beef up, its very powerful with its HP drain effect.

Others could use some minor tweaks as well, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah... only diff is that they are AoE and you'll hardly ever have them under 100%. Same as knight breaks, sure.

-3 Speed 97% to everything in the AOE? Yes plase!

-5 PA or MA 100% to everything in the AOE? OMG!

If those sword skills were given a lower MP cost than 20, I'd say that it should also have the AoE dropped to 1 square.

Off topic: I never get tired of watching Argg0's avatar. =D
