Help! / Re: Weapon Guard/Parry: A question and a request.
September 13, 2023, 03:57:31 pm
Quote from: Orkney on September 13, 2023, 02:33:08 pmHi.

The two weapons evasion are used. The game set right hand evasion and left hand evasion. If a unit uses 2 weapons and weapon guard, the each weapon will have his evasion set in the hand holding the weapon.

After that each evasion data (Class, Right, Left and Accessory) is rolled separately against the attacker base hit%.

So, you "just" need a Hack to set 150% of W-Ev if the unit uses 2Hands.

Thx for the answer.

I don't "need", you can understand as a suggestion for the ASM Hacks collection. I think ASMs that let you pick values for the bonus% of W-Ev when using two swords or two hands would be a nice addition, specially because doublehanding is unbalanced in this matter with its sister skill.

Help! / Weapon Guard/Parry: A question and a request.
September 10, 2023, 01:18:37 pm
Straight to the subject.

DOUBT:

How the game calculate Weapon Evasion on units with Weapon guard and two weapons?

Does it add both numbers?
Does it make separate tests for each of them?
Or does it only use the 1st slot weapon and ignores the 2nd?

REQUEST:

I'd like to request to the ASM hacking community some fixes to weapon guard in these two cases:

1) Create ASM Ack to fix Weapon Evasion of dual wielding weapons, only if the 3rd scenario above where the evasion of the 2nd weapons is not added in anyway whatsoever applies, so the W-EV of both weapons are added.
Ex: Character has equipped a Sword and a Dagger. W-EVs are 10 and 15 respectively. Final W-EV is 25.

2) Create ASM Hack with adjustable bonus to W-EV, when a single handed weapon is dual-handed (when using Two Hands/ Double Hands) with default at 100%.
Ex. Sword has W-Ev of 10. When dual handed value goes to 20. Or to 15 if modder decide to 50% bonus.

Thanks to anyone that replies, the entire FF Hacktics have my gratitude and respect.

Help! / Re: Holy Knight Job, and other questions.
May 23, 2023, 09:44:24 am
You cant create new items, you have a limited number of item slots to work.

What you can do, is fo whatever you want with each slot. You can make a Bow an Harp, change the sprite, reach,  damage formula for weapons, give damage reduction to armor, etc.

1) I think it's possible but it would involve hardcoding, that would be above the level of regukar users such as you and me. The easiest solution would be using FFTPacher and making a useless job into Holy Knight, assigning the job skills properly.

2) Yes, probably he has innate maintenance, you can remove this easily using FFT Patcher in the jobs tab.

3) Yes, this can be made, again, through the FFT Patcher. No eventing needed.

4) Yes you can, just not sure if the animation would appear right, have to test it.

5) Yes, you can easily remove charge times of skills in FFTPatcher in the abilities tab.

Quote from: Daizengar on May 07, 2020, 03:52:59 pmHelp me out guys! There's a lot of info to go through and I'm just lost. Here are my questions:
1- What versions of FFT do I need to have to get this mode to work?
2- What tool do I need to use to update that file with the .ppf for Journey of the Five?
3- I'm using RetroArch to play my games, FFT WotL at the moment. So what core/ settings do I need to have to play this?
4- Is there a Chapter 2 yet?

Thanks in advance

Ansewring 1&4:

Theres no Chapter 2 yet;
You only need the original PSX NTSC ISO file to play it. Then apply the ppf file with PPF O MATIC to it and play it with an emulator or console.

My personal opinion is that character levels suck. I've left several games unfinished, like Jeanne Darc and Fell Seal, because of boring grinding to get levels to the same level of enemies, or trying to keep the whole party in the same levels so I can use them all.

The best way to deal with this to me is removing character leveling from the game altogether, balancing around it, and leaving customization to class, abilities and equipment. If a character is your party, he is ready to use. You don't have to give up characters because they got underleveled, and you dont have keep characters level alligned to be able to assess who is better at what.

My patch for example will have all with 255 stat growth modifiers in all stats(the minimum) and level 99 (so they cant gain levels).

If I new how to stop characters from leveling, I could set characters to a level in a permanent manner (like Orlandu Lv50, Agrias Lvl 34 etc... )

Storywise only Ramza and Delita will gain minimal stat increases every time they change sprites, they being game protagonists, and we watching their growth in game from squires to major players.

I think a stablished character like Orlandu, that is considered a Knight with 50 year experince, doesnt make sense he gaining levels in game, which takes place in a period of 1-2 years.

I have a suggestion to make the chemist a Supplier character. It would works like this, characters adjacent to him would be granted equip change the the same way monster skill enable monsters an extra skill.

Quote from: Nyzer on April 22, 2020, 08:58:14 pmUnless you are willing to learn how to write the ASMs yourself, do NOT plan your hack around them.

A lot of the time, on the rare occasions requests here ARE fulfilled, they're quick ASMs that the writers haven't tested.

That said, at least some of what you want could probably be done by the hack that attaches extra skills to weapons. Not sure how public that is though

Hi Nyzer. I've known this forum, played its hacks watched its youtube videos for a few years now, but only now I've decided to try and make my own mod.

I need to read a lot of stuff to catalog all you guys developed, there's a lot of hacks and tips lost in old topics, that is not in the FFT Patcher or the tools section. I consider myself smart, but I'm smart to also recognize what i don't know, and I'm not a data programmer, I have ideas of how ASM Hacks works, but I can't write my own right now. Once I've tested and done all I can with what is available, then I'll proceed to try and learn some ASMhacking to do wat I still need.

Right now, yes, the nullify EXP request for example. If no one develop one, for now I'll minimize stat growth to the minimum (255 C values rates in all stats).

The reason I'm launching ideas is: if someone find them interesting enough to develop, win for them and win for me, right?

Right now all i can do is that, try to inpire people.

Thanks to the hard work and support of the wonderful FF Hackticks Community, Final Fantasy Tactics is stil alive.

The hacks, softwares and resources the community has created allow others to create it's own versions of the game. In a way you have two roads to take from here:
improving the original to your personal taste, keeping it's original story,
or creating your own original story, battles and characters.

This mod went for the second part, in such a sucessful manner, that it is currently the best sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics we've ever got.

First let's talk about it's story. It's a good story, with clever ideas. I totally think Delita keeping Ramza as a sort of hostage, making him a nobble with false idenity under house arrest makes perfect sense, to keep him under control, but rewarding him for his efforts at the same time.
Also loved the way the used Brave Story to show us the fate of other characters like Orlandu.

The new story with Dante, Snake, Link and Cloud, is entertaining, full of great batttes and moments, even if the plot itself is rather simplistic,
but it hits the right mark by adding something not found in the original, its PSP re-release, or any other mod you may find: HUMOR!
The humor in this was very welcome, Dante by far being the best character of the four visitors to Ivalice.

The mod has great hacks, like the mark system, new jobs, new sprites, new skillsets, all done really well. A particular big plus to the brilliant event editing, you don't have to go further than Dante's great action packed awesome intro, to know what I'm talking about.

Well this covers the good part: the story, the humor, the originality, the visuals, the sprites, the mechanics, the hacks in general.

Now I have to talk about the bads, and I should say, these can be easily remedied spending two minutes on FFTPatcher, but unfortunately I have to review the mod in it's natural state, so there is some flaws.

The game is not well balanced, and is grind oriented, and grinding in it is particularly more difficult and time consuming than any other versions.

The great new classes and job system for example: good luck even unlocking them. Classes requirements are high, jp gain is low, and grinding is really hard due to very difficult battles. Specially in the beginning, you have only one or two sites to battle randoms, and you have to pray for the right battle to spawn, or you will get owned before you have any chance to learn skills and develop your characters. Gear and items are very expensive also. To make things worse the five main characters have few support abilities to learn in their base jobs. I'm no rookie, I've finished this patch twice, one this year and the other years ago, when the game was even more difficult, and I still found the difficulty in the grindings overwhelming several times.

But as I said, if you go two minutes in FFTpatcher and change all jobs requirements to 0, and job level 8 to unlock with minimum JP, you just made this 15+ hour patch much more fun. You now have full acess to the entire job tree form the start, and can purchase and experiment the skils with much more ease, and wont need to grind half as much.

I'll give this 4 (very good) out of 5 stars, because despite the (mostly fixable) balance and difficulty issues, where this patch shines, it shines baby. GREAT EVENTING, GREAT NEW MECHANICS, cool sprites and new job system, and above all, DANTE ROCKS!

Request: Draw Out Redesign Hacks

This comes in two ways, the first more simple and useful, the second is a really big push, but could be nice.

1) Draw Out considers the equipped weapon in its inventory.

This is for lets say, theres only one Masamune in the game, and you want to use the Masamune Draw Out while having it equipped, so it needs to show up in the inventory to be selected.

2)Assign each Draw Out skill to a.weapon type instead of individual Katana:

Why this? Hear me out.

Combining this with the first hack and Xifanie's Skillset X Innate All hack, we could have an specific skill locked to each characters equiped weapon type. This innate  wouldn't mess the game because monsters would have no weapon to acess it.

This could be a really cool way to give the game limits/finisher moves.

I particularly only need the first hack, but I guess I'm tripping a little.

Request ARH (ability requirement hach?)for Charge abilities.

I need Charge abilities to be integrated with the ARH spreadsheet, to make some abilities only available to bow users and some only to crossbow users.

This is specially to crossbows to give them a mechanic where they need to be reloaded, so this is why the CT requirement. O want to make crossbows powerful but slow, more close to the way they really were. This way I would nerf their normal attack, and they need Charge to function properly.

If you have other ideas to how I can make a "crossbow needs to be reloaded mechanic" Im all ears.

Help! / Re: Job Points multiplier?
April 22, 2020, 11:43:07 am
If you wanna speed up JP gain, and you have FFT Patcher, you don't need a hack for it.

Job levels only effect is determine JP gain after an action.

If you go to the Job Levels tab on Patcher, you can set low values to reach the next job level, and in no time you'll be level 8 earning 40jp per action.

Example job level 2: 200 JP, level 3 250, Level 4 300... Level 8 500.

Help! / Re: R/S/M modding questions.
April 22, 2020, 11:26:11 am
I'm not finding the option to mark the topic as solved. But I'll share a experience I had testing with you.

I testes the equipment with r/s/m skill, works perfectly, its an AWESOME mod, so thank you guys for it.

I've tested Ramza with Counter on his sword and dragonspirit as reaction, Agrias with counter (sword) and regenerator, Lavian with two counters (sword and reaction).

Here comes the weirdness:

O attacked each character a dozen times, Lavian as expectedly didnt counter twice a single time, so no big deal.

In both Agrias and Ramzas cases, the counter from the equipment overwrited the reaction skill in the status screen.

But in Ramza's case, in battle dragonspirit took priority and every time he reacted, always was with it,.none with counter.

Agrias case is more curious, because she was almost the polar opposite of Ramza with counter taking over regenerator, being the reaction used multiple timea.

But there's a reason I said almost. Of the dozen times Agrias reacted, there was a aingle one when she reacted with regenerator, not counter,.showing that the game indeed recognized both reaction abilities. Happened only onve and I dont why it was.

Maybe this could be further tested, but I guess is not worth the trouble. As I said It's lame in the way the weapon Reactiom skill shows up in the status screen overwriting the one you set up.

Just thought it was worth to mention the test.

Main request: Nullify EXP gain hack.

Hi guys,  I'm a bit desperate, cause my patch, the way I envisioned it, really need a hack that nullifies EXP Gain. I want the characters to stay stuck on the level that I set for them on the FFT Patcher.

Extra challenge: Job multipliers scale with Job levels hack.

And MUCH more complicated, is it possible, a hack where class stats multipliers, scale with job level?
Ex:
job level 1 = 100% multiplier (stays the same)
job level 2 = 105% multiplier
Job level 3 = 110% muktiplier
job level 4 = 115% multiplier
job level 5 = 120% multiplier
job level 6 = 125% multiplier
job level 7 = 130% multiplier
job level 8 = 135% multiplier
Mastered = 150% multiplier

I dont know if I really would use this, if this is indeed possible, but I find this much more interesting than leveling up to level 99 through EXP.

If Gallione/Igros Castle is north and Zeltennia is south, east would be Fovoham/Riovanes Castle.

Gaffgarion is said to be a disgraced Knight, and Barinten is also said to have commited war crimes (like burning the Galtennas village) so it makes sense that they might have worked with each other.

Help! / Re: R/S/M modding questions.
April 18, 2020, 04:43:26 pm
Thanks Xifanie, so no worries for the several supports then.

I figured the reaction thing would be complicated to have more than one. I wished the game checked for some sort of priority order, and this priority could be edited so I could move the situational ones like Critical: HP restore to the top and counter to the bottom so if one above was not appliable the game could check one below.

I really wanted to give close weapon combat a weapon range element where daggers/fists would be striking (rng 1) with no counter, swords/axes/maces would be striking with counter and polearms/staves/whips would be lunging also with counter.

This way a spear user would counter both sword and dagger attackers, and when attacking could only be countered by the sword user if only one panel away.

And sword users would counter dagger users but not be countered by them.

Hi Everyone, I love a Song of Ice and Fire almost as much as I do Final Fantasy Tactics.
I know I'm not the first point out but FFT shares more than a few narrative similarities with George RR Martin masterpiece.
Let's see some of'em.

The Kingdom:

Both Westeros and Ivalice were seven kingdoms prior to unification and remain as seven provincies.

In both worlds a prosperous kingdom was destroyed by a calamity that might have involved natural disaster or magical elements (Valyria/Murond)

In both worlds from the fall of ancient civilizations a important element of its culture was lost to time (Magic in Westeros, advanced technology in Ivalice).

The Previous War:

Both works start after the end of an important war that shaped the Kingdom (Robert's Rebellion/50 Years War

Ned Stark = Barbaneth Beoulve

Both Ned and Barbaneth die in the first book/chapter.

Both are recognized nationwide as one of the most honorable and righteous man the kingdom.

Both are great swordsman and war heroes that proved instrumental in the Previous war.
Both have several siblings, including adopted ones.

Both in contrast to their flawless reputation fathered bastard children who they protected.

Both died due to being betrayed.

The King's Death:

In both works, after the start of chapter 1, but before chapter 2, the King dies and this leads to a sucession war. Both dead kings were seen as weak incompetent.

The War of the Roses'esque War:

Most similarities between ASOIAF and FFT are due to the fact that both are inspired by England's War If the Roses.

In both ASOIAF and FFT the majority of the story takes place during a civil war that starts in chapter 2 (War of the Five Kings/ War of the Lions).

In both the civil war starts with the death of the previous king, and a sucession dispute ensues.

In both the rightful heir claim (Joffrey/Orinas) is disputed because rumors indicate that the heir was not fathered by the late king.

In both the queen's family (Lannisters/Largs) takes power in the first moment.

Both queens became incompetent rulers and are arrested during the war because of It (Cersei/Louveria).

In both one party is headed by the queen's house trying to secure the claim of a probably ilegitimate child, against a relative of the late king (Stannis/Goltanna).

In ASOIAF the northern Stark army crest has a white background and rebel against the southern Lannister army whose most prominent color is red.

In FFT the Order of the North Sky represent the White Lion and battles the Order of the Southern Sky, whose most prominent color is red.

In both the Church capitalizes on the peoples suffering from the war to rally their support.

In both the war is being secretly manipulated by a third party (Littlefinger/The Church).

The Secret War:

In both the civil war that rages the country is not the major threat, that one being the one presented by an ancient race of supernatural beings that were defeated in the past, but long forgotten. (Others/Lucavi).

In both cases the supernatural enemies can reanimate the dead.

In both cases the kingdom is oblivious to this real menace.

Ramza=Jon Snow

Both Jon and Ramza are the bastard child of the above mentioned praised honorable war hero, and are constantly compared to him.

Both have a very strong bond with a suster.

Both are very righteous, brave, with a strong sense of justice and do not discriminate people due to birth status. And skilled swordsman.

Both have been accused of being naive.

Both uncover the real supernatural threat and try to warn the world about it to little avail.

Delita=Littlefinger

ASOIA doesn't have a Delita character, that being a sort of co-protagonist whose story is greatly intertwined with our hero protagonista.

But there's a Lot of similarities between Delita and minor character Littlefinger. Let's compare:

Both are lowborn characters that lived in a highborn enviroment. (Adopted by major houses).

Both suffered the greatest tragedy of their lives due tô the condition of being lowborn (LF had his heartbroken being forbidden to court the woman he loves and humiliated, Delita saw his sister slain, sacrificed for not being important enough).

But tragedies are related to a loss involving the most important woman of their lives.

But vowed to become powerful and change their lot in life.

But were sucessfull seizing positions of power due to years of preparation, through a séries of lies, betrayals, false alliances and even murder.

Extra: Incest?!

I was going to make a whole Cersei=Louveria paragraph, but most of their similarities are already where I pointed the civil war similarities.

One thing I was going to put there, is that I was pretty sure that the game hinted in some moment that Orinas could be the child of incest between Larg and Louveria, creating another major similarity with Cersei.

But Im not entirely sure of It, I dont remember exactly where I got this Idea from, and didn't find anything about it online.

So you guys enlighten me, is Orinas father, Duke Larg?

I'll point out more similarities If I remember.

Help! / R/S/M modding questions.
April 16, 2020, 05:14:58 pm
Hi guys, I'm a huge fan If yours. First time modding, few quick doubts?

#1) How many RSM skills the same unir can have?

I ask this because the game allows 1 slot each, with patcher we can set more the 4 inherent ones, and with orgASM we can give give innate ALL to dozen more, half of which (Defend, Weapon Guard, Secret Hunt, Move fins Item, etc) I wish to use. So there's a limit to this?

2) Can a unit have more than one reaction skills? How this would work?

I ask because I want to give ranged weapons like Spears and longswords automatic Counter (so they have a range advantage over daggers and fists for example) but then I fear It would render the reaction skill slot useless. Can a character have a weapon that grants Counter, learn and use Dragon Spirit for example?

3) Why the Weapon Guard Innate All hack from OrgASM v491 isnt on v492? Should I be worried when one hack doesnt make It to the next version of FFTPatcher?
