Alma Gets a Job!

We have a total of 24 valid entrees into this Spriting Contest, this is an incredible turnout. The results of the vote will be announced at the time listed on the poll. Only 1 vote per user, please do not vote using alt accounts and it is generally considered poor form to vote for your own sprite. Please refer to the judging criteria for guidance in voting, though it should be noted that all the following sprites are considered valid entrees. Feel free to discuss or ask questions in this thread, however there is no need to post how you voted.

If you submitted a sprite that is not on this vote list, and you do not believe is failed to meet the submission rules, feel free to PM me with questions.

Judging Criteria:
1) Creativity: This covers both the job idea and the physical design of the sprite. Find original, intelligent, and witty ways to follow the general theme of the contest.
2) Artistic Ability: The more original elements incorporated into the sprite the better. However, make sure to balance this with the visual quality of the sprite. General pixel art ability, design, and palette choice are important here.
3) Valid Submission: There are clear expectations for submission, please try your best to follow them.

I think the pictures are a browser issue at this point. I have checked it out on several computers without using my login and it has worked.  I will provide a link at the top to the archived section stuff so people who are having difficulties can see it there. Unless someone else has a better idea, I believe this should do the trick.

As much as I enjoy Almabot 9001 (it's over 9000!!!), and the Lap Dancer Alma, for me it's pretty much a contest between Shiekma and Alma Aran.... But I think Ima have to go with Alma Aran.

That Dragon Warrior had a lot of potential but I think with more hard work it could win this contest.

I wish we could choose 3 options... because now we don't know the other sprites people liked that voted for Kage.

I agree xif, I liked many, but kage's naughty alma and ramza going WTF did it for me, haha.

I considered this, but ultimately it would have become too confusing. I would prefer this but I think we would need a more powerful polling interface so we could track who is voting where and prevent people from voting for the same sprite multiple times. For now this will work and perhaps we can work on refining things for the next contest.

Just general suggestion Dino, nothing to worry about.

Dino has a point though... I kind of made the sprite out of seriousness and not (lols) because it said competition. If I knew it was going to be a contest of what sprite can make me LOL or WTF more I wouldn't have bother with something so custom >.>

I mean seriously don't put this next time:

Just say "vote for whichever you like best!" (because that is what is really happening)

Maybe the poll should be restarted if people think so

The point of these competitions are to be entertaining and act as a community activity. Don't stress about the voting and just try to enjoy everyone showing off their ideas.

I agree with Cheetah here. Besides, we are in the middle of the contest, and changing any technical related stuff would get confusing. This all will likely be disscused before another contest.

Maybe *next time* we can be more specific or make the judging rules bigger and different colors.  I think it would be nice if everyone judged on the same criteria. If I saw the judging rules my vote would have been different.

So as you have all likely notice there is no third place yet. The first and second place winners were very clear, but almost every other sprite is very close to winning third given the wide spread of votes. I'm aware that Sheikma and Alma Aran are technically in the lead, but a difference of one vote is essentially meaningless. So there will be a revote, removing the first and second place winners, to establish third place. I will be reopening the poll today at some point and it will remain open for two days.

Oh wow! I am surprised no one voted for Conman- that bikini is to die for.

Hey, Cheetah. If you are going to re-open the polls take mine off too, I am starting work on Smash's Cecil and I don't need the distraction of those 2 sprites at the moment.

Not much to spoil when you know most people are extra perverted on this site st4r lol. The second I saw that submission, I was like... that is going to win.

Voting is reopened for third place to be decided. I removed Kage's Hulk Alma since his other entree has already placed. This saddens me because it was my personal favorite, but others should have a chance to place as well. The poll is set up in the same way and will end in two days.

I voted for Safari Alma because it was, imo, the best sprite of the whole lot. It was really terrific, and loved the custom work on it.

Don't be so modest lijj, safari alma was pretty good. I voted for Sheikma.
Oh, and You guys are retarded if you think I would get horny over some pixels. Kage did a great job with a custom pose of alma and he deserves the votes he's gettin'. I like all of them though, some of the under appreciated ones here are sheikma, lucavi hunter, white cleric, and alma aran.

EDIT: Oh, and especially YMCAlma, cause wolf, that would be an amazing generic female theif replacer.

You are talking about the green one?? I don't think it could be a thief maybe a guerrilla man or something like that but Lucavi hunter could work perfectly as a thief IMO.

Congratulations Wolfran, Alma Aran has taken third place in the Alma gets a Job sprite contest. An official announcement in the news section will come tomorrow.

I would like to give a shout out to all the contestants and especially to those new and old members who gave spriting a shot for the first time. The entrees were truly excellent and I hope everyone had a bit of fun as well.

People have already been asking about the next competition and wondering if we will try to make this a more regular activity. The contests and friendly competitions will definitely continue, mostly due to the amount of interest and quality of entrees in this current celebration of Alma's Birthday. Expect something a little different however.

If you have any comments or suggestions on how you would like to see the competition formats improved feel free to send me a PM.
