The Balbanes Sprite Topic (Sprite Completed)

I'm not make him look exactly like Cid, his colors and everything can be different. It just should be similar as they were great friends, of the same rank, and fought together. I mean, the Shrine Knights were all of generally the same rank and all wore different colors and slight variations on their base gold armor. Look at Delita. He made his cloth shorter and it made him stand out from the others.

Basically, I'm saying that Balbanes doesn't have to be a carbon copy of Cid just with a lowered hood, but I think that he should look similar. Maybe borrowing the armor(and changing its color) but removing the gauntlets and changing his cape. He doesn't need to look completely like Cid, but they are similar people in rank, and considering what we actually know about them both, probably in personality.

Sounds like a good idea,but idk,I dont like Orlandu armor,it would look great on a Young Balbanes sprite,but the retired one,should look more stylish and less heavy and his portrait doesnt have an armor or at least looks like

However, take into consideration that his portrait is of him on his deathbed. People generally don't wear their normal armor or clothes when on their deathbed.

true,after this sprite I plan to concept the Young Balbanes and the armor idea is great for this,but for his aged sprite,I prefer his deathbed clothes or normal clothes(the ones the he prolly used to wear after retiring)

Rereading my post, I realize that I wasn't clear: though Balbanes was wearing a robe in his deathbed (which makes complete sense) it doesn't make sense that he'd continue wearing that robe had he survived and continued to battle on the field. I picture him wearing something similar to Dycedarg from the waist up, but with some kind of leg armor and a cape of some kind...

I like that idea,but I discard the cape,Wiegraf/Orlandu legs and Dycedarg's front and Reno's back,I cant do it since I work with paint.

He doesn't really need to wear armor, imo. That will make things harder.

its a pretty good draw,but its pretty difficult to choose the "Balbanes" among many options,Robe,Jacket,Armor,Armor/Robe,Heavenly Knight,I will make a concept for every idea and then choose the best,currently working on the robed one

If you have never played a game called Demon's Souls, then you don't know what it means to rape someone without armor (or a sword if your damn skilled).

But anyways that sketch is pretty good. I can see Balbanes wearing such armor, but needs more a flashy tone to it, since of course he is a decorated knight. I understand that it is just a rough sketch, but thats my 2 cents.

Actually, as someone pointed out Ramza and Balbanes both look to be wearing a similar outfit, this fits in very well with the theme of Ramza trying to emulate his father in the first chapter, he's the only one of the children that even copies his father's ponytail. I would wager a guess that Balbanes would wear something very similar to Ramza's first chapter clothes.

I think I'm gunna take a shot at a General and Young Balbanes sprite.

I still don't think that Balbanes would be wearing such a robe. Maybe on his deathbed. But commanding an army? Not really appropriate.
I get that Dycedarg wore close to the same thing, but Ramza was most like Balbanes, and Dycedarg was not. I would imagine Dycedarg's clothing would be the furthest in similarity from Balbanes.

Dycedarg carried the air of aristocracy about himself that I doubt Balbanes would. And as gorgeous as Bloodthirster's sprites look I do think it needs some tweaking. LD's suggestion about him and Ch. 1 Ramza having a similar outfit is downright brilliant. If you can make that look a little less childish, it'd be good.

I really hate Ch.1 Ramza outfit,it doesnt fits well in battles and it looks like a dress,but I think I can make something nice with it and add pants,Balbanes must have pants,Im currently choosing parts for RolyTunedIn drawing:

Delita 2 Arms
Wiegraf Ch.1 or Orlandu legs
Still deciding the chest plate,maybe Zalbag's

it is going to be Black/Golden without cape

btw,when I was customizing Orlandu legs for Balbanes,it looked very weird without the cape

I also did the armor/robe Balbanes,it sucks a lot,I will post it later
