The Lounge / Back after a break.

So it's been quite a few months since I was last here. I just downloaded the latest FFTPatcher and FFTacText (which fixed some text issues cause when I used it so long ago). I'm wondering, what else has changed in the time I was gone?

A few minutes ago, I went to test the minor changes I made to my project today. It ran well for a while, then the time mage graphic suddenly became blocky and my game started lagging hard. Eventually I lost all sound and the ability to receive input (couldn't press buttons). This makes me think I should redo my project from scratch, since some things have changed in the tools.

Pretty awesome. ^-^ I play the PSX FFT on my PSP since I don't like emulating it on the PC. ;x So now I (and other PSP players) have easy ways to record what we're up to. :3

Not sure how compatible these are with my firmware since I haven't tested. :x
If anybody knows more current methods, do share.

I'm trying to figure out how to work a buzz-cut hair style in just a 16 color palette. I'm already at 19 colors so I need to scale down on the colors I'm using. Tips would be much appreciated for the hair. x_x If you need to reference a buzz cut, use google. I used the Simon portrait as my starting point, so I'm happy with the shape of his cranium at least.





Because of the 16 color limit (I managed to stay at 16 on this one :p) I'm having a hard time making this look acceptable. :s


And well... this is the little I've done on my Soul Manipulator so far. The only "completed" sprite is the forward-facing one. Though, I'm not satisfied with the head. I haven't done much to this since I'm distracted with the patcher and text editor. ADD ftw!

Now that we're all having fun with the text editor and spell quotes, post some of the quotes you've come up with here. Silly ones, serious ones, experimental... etc..

PSX FFT Hacking / Just an idea.

I'm not sure what hacks we are currently capable of but here's an idea to throw out there. I'm basing this off of the ASM I saw for 'Innate Equip Change for all' and 'Innate Item for all',

Get rid of the bag as a weapon. Keep the shop symbols for it but change it to an accessory.
Equipping each has special effects:

C Bag- Chemist's bag: Innate 'Use Item'
P Bag - Poacher's Bag: Innate 'Secret Hunt' PA+1
H Bag - Helper's bag: Innate 'Use Item' Innate 'Throw Item'
FS Bag - Full-stock Bag: Innate 'Use Item' Innate 'Throw Item' Innate 'Equip Change' Move+1

I just see it as nobody seriously uses these as weapons. So if the pro hackers can change them into accessories and eliminate them as a possible weapon, we can have some pretty interesting accessories.

Been here a few days now. I'm not new to game editing but I also never got too deep into it (Shining Force 2). I'm currently trying to balance and create spells+classes for my own FFT project, as an opener in getting used to working around with FFT. When event editing becomes cleaner, I want to be able to make my 4 main character projects into "storyline" characters along the lines of Beowolf, Reis, and Cloud. If at all possible, add more Zodiac monsters. I've got a lot of ambitions but little experience and knowledge here.

I'd also like to create my own items and spells but we don't seem to be able to do this yet (i may be wrong, I've only been into this for a few days).

I've been playing FFT since it came out in the US and I've been using custom characters on it ever since I discovered you could around the year 2000 (I think).

I used to sprite back in my youth. I'm getting back into it now for my FFT projects.

PSX FFT Hacking / Formula question.

I've altered Spirit of Life to heal an AoE that effects both allies and enemies along with adding a Regen. I've come across a problem, though. It now heals virtually no HP and seems to always instakill the undead.

I want to heal from 1 to 186.

The formula is strange, though:
Recovers (1..Q-1) HP and adds a status effect, 00% if target already has it.

I have my Q value as BB, for 187... but I seem to always heal for 2 and kill any undead rather than just hurt them.
